Total Man Games Lost: 0 Storylines For Tonight s Game Blue Jackets Set to Drop the Puck on their 11th NHL Season: Columbus opens its 11 th season in the National Hockey League tonight against the Nashville Predators. Columbus has posted a mark in its previous 10 season-openers, scoring 26 goals and allowing 25 in those games. Eight of the games have been decided by one goal or less (3-3 tie vs. St. Louis in 2001) with three decided in overtime. The Jackets have gone in their last five season debuts. Nash Enters Ninth NHL Season: LW Rick Nash enters his ninth NHL season in just eight games shy of 600, 12 points shy of 500 and 28 shots shy of 2,000 for his career. He has collected and 1,972 shots in 592 career NHL games en route to being the Blue Jackets all-time leader in games played, goals, assists, points, power play goals (77), power play points (163), gamewinning goals (42), shorthanded goals (12), hat tricks (5), shots on goal, multi-goal games (41) and multi-point games (122). He has scored at least 30 goals in five of the last six seasons, eclipsed the 30 assist mark in five-straight and has recorded 65-or-more points in four-straight campaigns. Ironman Umberger Looks to Build on Career Season: LW R.J. Umberger has set the franchise record for consecutive games played, playing in 246-consecutive games, a streak that began Oct. 10, He broke Jason Chimera s record of 243, which was set Oct. 9, 2005-Apr. 5, Umberger has played in 249-straight games overall, dating back to Apr. 2, 2008 vs. Pittsburgh (with Philadelphia). Last season he set career highs in points (57), shorthanded goals (3) and games played (82-tied), while falling one goal short of matching a career best (26). He has averaged nearly 25 goals per season over the past three campaigns and has hit the 50- point mark in three of the past four seasons. Off-Season Acquisition Carter to Make Blue Jackets Debut: C Jeff Carter was acquired by the Blue Jackets from Philadelphia in exchange for Jakub Voracek, a first round pick (Sean Couturier) and third round pick (Nick Cousins) in the 2011 Entry Draft on June 23, He is expected to make his Blue Jackets debut tonight, after spending the previous six seasons with the Flyers. With Philadelphia, he notched and a cumulative plus/minus rating of +51 in 461 games, including a 46-goal season in He has scored 30-or-more goals in three-straight seasons, leading the Flyers in goals all three campaigns. Tonight s Opponent Nashville: Tonight marks first of six meetings overall and first of three at Nationwide Arena this season between the Blue Jackets and Predators. Columbus is all-time against Nashville, including a mark at Nationwide Arena. The Blue Jackets suffered only one regulation loss to the Preds in Columbus since the start of the season, going during that stretch. Talk About of Goal Scorers: With the acquisition of Jeff Carter, the Blue Jackets now boast two of the NHL s elite scorers. LW Rick Nash, who shared the Maurice Rocket Richard trophy with Atlanta s Ilya Kovalchuk and Calgary s Jarome Iginla in , has scored 259 goals in 592 career NHL games, while Carter has 181 in 462 games. Owning the Dot: With the addition of C Jeff Carter, the Blue Jackets bolstered their success in the face-off circle. Carter joins C Antoine Vermette and C Samuel Pahlsson, who helped Columbus rank eighth (tied) in the NHL in face-off win percentage (51.2 percent) last season. Vermette ranked 14th (tied) in the NHL in face-off win percentage (55.6) in , Pahlsson won 52.0 percent of his face-offs to rank second on the team, while Carter would have ranked 19th (54.7 percent) in the NHL last season had he hit the

The club ranked fourth in (52.3 percent), 11th (tied) in (51.2) and ninth in (51.0). Blue Jackets Play 16 Back-To-Back Sets: Columbus plays in 16 back-to-back sets this season. The Jackets play one home/home set, home/road sets five times, road/home sets on five occasions and five back-to-back road/road sets. Columbus is all-time in the first game of back-to-backs and is all-time in the second game. COLUMBUS For the third time in four seasons, the Predators begin their season away from Bridgestone Arena, taking on the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight at Nationwide Arena. It marks the first time in franchise history the two Central Division foes have faced off on opening night. A season ago, Nashville compiled a record of against the Blue Jackets. In the final regular season game at Bridgestone Arena, the Predators jumped out early with Patric Hornqvist continuing his assault on the Blue Jackets.
