Nick hands him a phone. Casey dials a number. INT. 'S HOUSE Charlie picks up the phone. Hello? Hey Honey, It's me.

35 Where are you calling from? Is everything alright? How is Sam? I'm fine, Sam's Fine. Are you watching the game? No? Whats going on? I can't talk... Just put the game on... and call my parents. I love you. Bye. Love y- Charlie puts on the tv. INT. MADISON SQUARE GARDEN - HOCKEY RINK Casey Carter puts on his mask and steps onto the ice. He skates towards the goal. INT. 'S HOUSE Charlie is watching the game. TV ANNOUNCER 2 Someone has just got into net for the Rangers. Number one, Carter. TV ANNOUNCER I'm just getting word on who the mystery goalie is. (beat) Making his NHL Debut for the New York Rangers, Former #1 Draft Pick, Casey Carter. Charlie smiles, cheers and jumps up and down. INT. MADISON SQUARE GARDEN Sam, Jake, Emma, Fred, Griff, and the rest of the ninjas are chanting Let's go Carter. INT. MADISON SQUARE GARDEN - HOCKEY RINK Boston heads into the offensive zone. The pass around and a player fires a shot towards the net. Casey Carter makes a

36 great save for his first nhl save. We follow the game action as Casey is playing great in net for the Rangers. Quick flashes of the fans cheering, Sam cheering, the ninjas cheering, Jason Trudeau looking on, and the scoreboard. The score is still 1-0 Boston. The horn goes off ending the first period of play. Luc Roman skates over to Casey Carter. Casey takes his helmet off and skates off the ice with Luc. LUC ROMAN How does it feel to play in the NHL? Amazing. INT. MADISON SQUARE GARDEN The two announcers are sitting with the ice in the background. TV ANNOUNCER The Rangers need to win this game to keep their season alive. They lose and their season is over. Win and they're in the playoffs. Seams simple enough. First Boggs goes down, then Kowowski goes down. In comes Carter Casey... TV ANNOUNCER 2 It's Casey Carter. TV ANNOUNCER Who is Casey Carter? I'll tell you who. He's a former first round draft pick by the NY Rangers... about twelve years ago. TV ANNOUNCER 2 Casey was a forward back then... a great goal scorer who got the call to play for the Rangers. TV ANNOUNCER And that's when tragedy hit. On the way to the game a drunk driver hits Carter's car, takes off and (MORE)

37 TV ANNOUNCER (CONT'D) leaves Carter and his driver for dead. TV ANNOUNCER 2 The driver died. Doctors were worried Casey wouldn't survive the night. He survived with a broken back, broken ribs, spinal damage, and swelling in the brain. He spent a couple of days in a coma. TV ANNOUNCER They were worried he wouldn't walk again let alone play hockey. Here he is playing hockey for an NHL team trying to lock down the final playoff spot on the last day of the regular season. TV ANNOUNCER 2 It's time to take it back down to the ice as the second period is set to begin. INT. MADISON SQUARE GARDEN - HOCKEY RINK We follow along with the action on the ice. The action is going back and forth with neither team able to score a goal. Casey Carter is keeping the Rangers alive by making some great saves. Casey gets the puck and passes it to a defensive player. The defenseman passes it to a forward. The forward passes it to another forward who takes a slap shot. Luc Roman is standing in front of the goalie. Luc deflects the shot passed the goalie and into the back of the net. INT. MADISON SQUARE GARDEN Sam Carter is cheering. (chanting) Luc... Luc... Luc... INT. MADISON SQUARE GARDEN - HOCKEY RINK We follow along with the game on the ice. There is only five minutes left in the second period. EXT. MADISON SQUARE GARDEN - BOX OFFICE

38 Charlie along with Anne Carter and Tom Carter walk up to the Box Office. TICKET SALES PERSON Sorry. We are sold out. The game is on a tv in the background. But... My husband is Casey Carter and these are his parents. Who? The goalie. TICKET SALES PERSON Casey appears on the tv. Charlie points at the tv. He is. TICKET SALES PERSON One moment please. INT. MADISON SQUARE GARDEN - HOCKEY RINK The game continues. Casey makes a great save as the second period comes to an end. INT. MADISON SQUARE GARDEN Nick is walking with Charlie, Anne, and Tom. NICK Sorry about the wait. The game is sold out but we were able to get two seats by the Rangers Bench. The third person can take Casey's seat with his son and friends. Mom, Dad, you take the seats by the bench. I'll go sit with Sam. TOM No. You and Sammy take the good seats. ANNE Yeah, you guys take the seats.

39 Are you sure? Yes. ANNE Nick, can you take us first to where my son is sitting? NICK Yes, of course Mrs. Carter. They get to the seats. Sam looks over and sees them. Sammy. TOM CARTER Grandpa, Grandma, Mom? What are you doing here? We saw dad on the tv and we couldn't miss seeing him play live. Charlie greets Jake, Emma. Fred and their families. How is this possible? A couple of injuries and a quirky rule. FRED MACKIE It's a miracle. We are witnessing a miracle on ice. Sam, do you want to go sit with me by the Rangers bench. What about everyone else? There are only two seats. Grandpa and Grandma should take those seats. They're old, their eyes aren't as good as ours.

40 Charlie & Emma laugh. TOM CARTER Sammy, you and your mother should take them. OK. If that's what you want. Charlie and Sam are sitting in their seats by the Rangers bench. They stand up and watch the Rangers players come out and sit on the bench. Casey walks past and sees Charlie and Sam. He puts his hand up and touches the glass that separates them. Charlie puts her hand up next to his. She mouths I Love You to Casey. Casey mouth's it back to her as he heads back onto the ice. The third period begins with a great save by Casey. The puck goes back and forth down the ice; neither team is able to score a goal. Both goaltenders are having great games. Montage of highlights from the third period. The game remains a 1-1 tie with only 3 minutes left. Casey takes the puck and passes across the ice to Luc Roman who breaks past the defense and has a breakaway to the net. Luc fakes to the glove side and shoots to the stick sides and puts the puck into net. TV ANNOUNCER Luc Roman gets his second goal of the game and the Rangers have taken their first lead of the game. With a minute left Boston pulls their goalie and a sixth skater comes on the ice. With the extra player, Boston takes over on offense. Casey makes some big saves. The horn goes off. TV ANNOUNCER And the game is over. The Rangers are going to the playoff led by the outstanding goaltending of Casey Carter. TV ANNOUNCER 2 Casey Carter didn't allow a single goal.

41 The Rangers players come off the bench and celebrate on the ice. Casey takes of his helmet. He looks at the sold out crowd; who are all on their feet chanting Casey. Casey waves to the crowd. - KID (V.O.) I will make history.
