9 Today's Game Tonight the Dallas Stars host the Phoenix Coyotes in the two teams second meeting of eight this season. The Stars defeated the Coyotes 5-3 in Phoenix last Saturday night. This will be the third and final game in a three-game homestand for the Stars as Dallas was defeated by the Sharks 4- on Monday night and were downed by the Chicago Blackhawks 5-4 on Wednesday evening. Dallas is 4-5- against the Western Conference this season and are 3-- versus the Pacific Division. Lifetime Series STARS VS. COYOTES ALL-TIME ( ), HOME (3--9), AWAY (35-4-4): In a series that dates back to when the Winnipeg Jets entered the NHL from the disbanded World Hockey Association, Dallas has held the advantage with a record...since the franchise moved to Phoenix prior to the season, the Stars are against the Coyotes...On Oct., 7 at Phoenix, Mike Smith became the first goaltender in franchise history to earn a shutout in his NHL debut by stopping all shots he faced in the Stars 4- win. Devin Setoguchi, making his NHL debut, tallied two goals on two nifty passes by Joe Thornton that helped lift the Sharks to the victory. Mike Ribeiro and Matt Niskanen (first NHL goal) gave the Stars a - lead midway through the third period. However, Setoguchi scored twice in a span of :34 and then Steve Bernier ice the game just :7 seconds after that as the Sharks took the game from the Stars 4-. Mike Ribeiro led Dallas with a goal and two assists, while Brenden Morrow collected three helpers and Mike Modano notched a goal and an assist in the victory for his first multiple-point game of the season. Jere Lehtinen scored Dallas' only goal, 6:5 into the contest which gave the Stars the - lead. However, Brian Willisie tied the game at the middle of the second period and Alexander Frolov put Los Angeles up for good with a goal :4 into the third period. Marty Turco suffered the loss in net for the Stars, despite stopping 8 of 3 shots in the game. Brenden Morrow scored two minutes into the game on the power play to give Dallas a lead they would never relinquish. Mike Ribeiro, who posted a goal and an assist, gave the Stars a - lead and Jere Lehtinen posted his first goal of the season to lift the Stars to a three-goal lead. 22 Phoenix Coyotes Notes The Phoenix Coyotes travel to Dallas tonight to take on the Stars in the second of eight meetings between the Pacific Division rivals this season. The Coyotes dropped a 5-3 decision to the Stars on Oct. 7 in a game that saw captain Shane Doan collect three points ( goal, assists), including the th goal of his NHL career. Radim Vrbata and Daniel Carcillo also scored in the game while Ed Jovanovski recorded two assists. Doan leads all current Coyotes in career scoring against Dallas with --4 in 63 games. The Coyotes' lone victory against the Stars last season came in Dallas on Jan. 9.
