7 TONIGHT S STORYLINES PRESEASON ROUNDUP: Calgary finished the NHL Preseason with a record. Newcomer Michael Frolik and rookie Sam Bennett led the Flames with four points apiece, five players had a pair of goals and Bennett and Matt Stajan were tops with three assists each. Jonas Hiller, Joni Ortio, and Karri Ramo all had goals against averages of less than 2.00 while their save percentages were all over.940. AND THEY RE OFF: Tonight marks Calgary s 43 rd season opening game and their record is in those tilts. The Flames have opened the season at home 23 times where they hold a mark. Calgary has hosted the Canucks in ten season openers and are in those meetings. DEBUTANTS: Calgary s summer acquisitions Michael Frolik and Dougie Hamilton will make their first regular season appearances in a Flames uniform tonight. Frolik, a 27-year-old Czech right wing, played all 82 regular season and four playoff games for Winnipeg last year and was tied for fifth in the NHL with three shorthanded goals in the regular campaign. Hamilton, a 22-year-old defenceman and Toronto native, set career-highs for game played (72), goals (10), assists (32), and points last year, he led Boston in assists and also in power play points with MOLSON CANADIAN NHL FACE-OFF: The official NHL season-opening celebration takes place today at historic Fort Calgary. The party will feature live music performances, prizes and giveaways; NHL alumni and special guest appearances; merchandise available for purchase; and sponsored hockey activities, interactive games and product previews. The free hockey and music festival is family-friendly and will begin at 3:00 p.m. at Fort Calgary and will culminate with a live viewing party for the Flames home opener. DID YOU KNOW? Chris Higgins played 12 games for the Flames in and had a goal and two assists. Brandon Prust was drafted by Calgary in the third round of the 2004 NHL Draft and had two stints in the organization, both ended with his trade. The London, Ontario native played 78 games with Calgary and had seven points (2G, 5A) and 133 PIMs. FORMER VANCOUVER PLAYERS ON THE CALGARY ROSTER: Mason Raymond was drafted by the Canucks in the 2 nd round (51 st overall) in the 2005 NHL Draft. The native of Cochrane, Alberta spent six seasons with Vancouver and played 374 games, recording 178 points (80G, 98A). Raymond also took part in 55 post-season games with Calgary s BC rivals and managed 19 points (8G, 11A) in those tilts.

10 Calgary Flames: Head Coach and Player Bios Head Coach: Bob Hartley Hartley is in his fourth year as the Flames Head Coach. He coached in his 800th NHL game on November 18, 2014 and registered his 400th NHL win on December 4, 2014 against the Colorado Avalanche. Hartley became the head coach of Quebec s AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears where he won a Calder Cup title in 1997 after going to the Memorial Cup with Laval Titans in 1993 and two Championships at the helm of the Hawksbury Hawks (CJHL) in 1990 &1991. A season later, Hartley was hired as the Colorado Avalanche bench boss. During his five seasons, the Avalanche won four division titles and made four appearances in the conference finals. In 2001, Hartley won a division title, a President's Trophy and the Stanley Cup. Hartley s tenure with the Avalanche ended in December of Hartley was then appointed head coach of the Atlanta Thrashers where he spent four seasons and led the franchise to its first ever playoff berth.
