I am a rodeo cowboy who loves Jesus and wants to bring others to know Him. I am a Lifetime Gold Card Member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. VISION: Reach rodeo cowboys and cowgirls with the Good News that Jesus loves them and Jesus Saves. Through this, their families, friends, and the many people they contact around the world, including ranchers and others in the horse and livestock industry will know God cares for them and Jesus is Lord. EXPECTATION: See people saved, set free, healed spiritually, physically, and emotionally, filled with the Holy Sprit, and living a life pleasing to God. He Has Fire In His Eyes Jesus will look much, much different the next time all earth sees Him. Revelations 1:14 His head and His hair were white like white wool, likes snow; and His eyes were like a flame of fire. Hebrews 12:29 for our God is a consuming fire. (Check out Hebrews 12:25-29) Hebrews 10:30-31 For we know Him who said, VEN- GEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY. And again, THE LORD WILL JUDGE HIS PEOPLE. 31 It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God. (See Hebrews 10:26-31) How do you picture Jesus? What does He look like to youin your mind? Close your eyes for a few moments and picture the way you think He looks. Bible stories and books, television, and movies have shown us Jesus. The next time the world sees Jesus He will have fire in His eyes. Let s see how Revelations shows what He will be like when He returns. Revelations 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond servants, the things which must soon take place... 7 BEHOLD, HE IS COMING WITH THE CLOUDS, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen. 8 I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, who is an who was and who is to come, the Almighty. 12 Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands; 13 and in the middle of the lampstands I saw one like a Son of man, clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and girded across His chest with a golden sash. 14 His head and His hair were white like white wool, like snow; and His eyes were like a flame of fire. 15 His feet were like burnished bronze, when it has been made to glow in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of many waters. 16 In His right hand He held seven stars, and out of His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword; and His face was like the sun shining in its strength. 17 When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. And He placed His right hand on me, saying, Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, 18 and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades. He tells us who have received Him as Savior to not be afraid. Fire Consumes or Fire purifies. The Fire of Jesus will consume His enemies and those who reject Him. The Fire of Jesus will purify His disciples; those who receive Him as Savior and Lord. The fire will burn the sin and junk out of our lives, and cause the glory of God and His goodness to shine through us to others. We will also be presented as a holy people before the Most High God. He always prefers restoration over judgment. Jesus brings restoration to our lives. The Holy Spirit is ever present to help us in times of need. Joey Sonnier is rodeo cowboy and saddle maker from Louisiana. He lost several years of his rodeo career due to some bad choices. But the Lord has restored him and renewed his youth. He is back riding in the Saddle Bronc Riding at rodeos across the country. He has qualified for The American One Million Dollar Rodeo. And he has qualified for the PRCA South East Circuit Finals in 2016 and When I first saw Sonnier he was making a very good saddle bronc ride at a rodeo in Fairfield, Texas. I saw him a few more times in the next few months. I thought, Who is that? Where did this guy come from? Where has he been? Here he looked to continued on page 2 continued on page 4

2 continued from page 1 He Has Fire In His Eyes Jesus will look much, much different the next time all earth sees Him. This Month s Message by Ronnie Christian We are to be shining for God now. Matthew 5:16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. In the Old Testament Moses and all Israel followed the cloud by day and the fire by night. In the New Testament we have the Holy Spirit to lead us, guide us, teach us, and to empower us. The infilling or outpouring of the Holy Spirit will fire you up to serve God. Those who don t know Jesus as Savior; those who have rejected Him will burned up like grass. See what John the Baptist said. Luke 3:16-17 John answered and said to them all, As for me, I baptize you with water; but One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to untie the thong of His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 17 His winnowing fork is in His hand to thoroughly clear His threshing floor and to gather the wheat into His barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. So Jesus will baptize us in the Holy Spirit and fire for power when we ask, or His fire will burn you forever. See what the Bible has to say about the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 13: Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet cast into the sea, and gathering fish of every kind; 48 and when it was filled, they drew it up on the beach; and they sat down and gathered the good fish into containers, but the bad they threw away. 49 So it will be at the end of the age; the angels will come forth and take out the wicked from among the righteous, 50 and will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. And another passage mentions the fire for the unrighteous. Matthew 25:41 Then He will also say to those on His left, Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; Hell was prepared for the devil and his fallen angels, not mankind, so don t go there. It is awful. There is total separation from God, from love, and there eternal torment. I asked what you see when you picture Jesus. What is He like to you? I usually see Him as friendly, smiling with kind eyes, and accepting as a friend. I had a recent vision of him where He looked much different than that. It was just a quick flash. I saw the consuming fire in His eyes. The fire I saw was like many laser beams, very bright coming out to expose, examine and consume or purify whatever He saw in us. Shortly after that He let me know His smiling friendly face and eyes of love were still there, but hidden temporarily with the fire in His eyes. He has a work to do with the people on earth when He returns. Receive Jesus as Savior and Lord: Romans 10:13 for WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED. Jesus will forgive your sins, purify your spirit and soul, and give you power to be an over comer in this life and into eternity. Ask Jesus to baptize you in the Holy Spirit and fire. Jesus said in Acts 1:8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth. Pray: Lord forgive my sins. I believe Jesus died on the cross to wash my sins away, and rose again on the third day. I receive Jesus now as my Savior and Lord. I receive eternal life.help me to live a life pleasing to my Father in 2 Heaven. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen Read: (Read Romans 3:10; 3:23; 5:8-9; 6:23; 10:9-10, 13; John 3:16; Luke 11:13; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:38). Read the Bible daily, pray daily, get water baptized, ask Jesus to baptize you in the Holy Spirit, meet often with other believers. Live in the fruit of the Holy Spirit. See Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. The Baptism of Fire: Lord Jesus I know I need power to be an over comer in life and serve you with power. I ask You, Jesus, right now to baptize me in the Holy Spirit and Fire. I receive from You now. I believe in the gifts of the Spirit and I will operate in those gifts as You lead me to. Now begin to pray. You may begin to prophesy or speak in an unknown tongue. If you pray in an unknown tongue, that is your spirit talking to God. The Bible says when we pray in tongues we are speaking to God and not man; we are speaking mysteries. It will always edify you. And when we are edified, we can build up others. You will have more boldness in your witness for Christ in word and deed.you will see yourself operating in the gifts of the Spirit shown in 1Corinthians 12: For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills. 3 Protection IN Situations That Pose Danger Protection in times of storms, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, fires, shootings, rodeo and other sports competition, and situations that pose danger. Protection comes by trusting God, faith in God and His Word-the Bible promises, confessing God s Word, angels, pleading or applying the Blood of Jesus over yourself, your family, your property and possessions. Psalm 91 is known as the Protection Psalm. Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God. Remember to abide is to live, to dwell there, not just visit occasionally or stay off at a distance. When we are close to God we are in a safe place. There are times when we are so close to God that no devil, demon, person, or any trouble can cause us harm. Psalm 91-New King James Version He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust. 3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler. More on Angels Protection--- Psalm 34:7 The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them. Hebrews 1:14 (about protection of angels) Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation? The Blood In Exodus when the firstborn in Egypt were all killed the Hebrew children, Israelites, were passed over and protected when The Angel of the Lord saw the blood on their doorposts. It is the Lord s Passover. (See Exodus 12:1-9).The blood of Jesus will cause death and danger to pass over us when we remember by faith to plead the Blood of Jesus, or apply the Blood of Jesus over our lives, our families, our animals, property, and possessions. The Blood of Jesus is what protects us from hell and gives eternal life. Romans 5:8-9 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 4 Joey Sonnier continued from page 1 Joey Sonnier, his wife Michelle, children; Kade, Kenley and Kiley. be about 30 years old or so and he is riding great. That was in 2015; he was 35 years old. He is now 37 years of age. As I got to know Joey and become friends I found out more of his story. You will read here why he was not seen on the rodeo trail for a few years. His is a story of a man getting his heart right with God through his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Then we watched as God restored to him the desires of his heart. The following verses are fitting for him Joel 2: 12-13, Now, therefore, says the LORD, Turn to Me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning. 13 So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the LORD your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm. 25 So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust, The consuming locust, And the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you. 26 You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, And praise the name of the LORD your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you; And My people shall never be put to shame. Matthew 11: (Jesus said) Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Life and his rodeo future as a young man looked good. He got involved in drugs, which has taken many good men and women down. So the price had to be paid for his bad decisions. The Lord was ever present working on Joey s heart, ready for him to yield to God s way of doing things, and God s plans for him. Also the good news for him is that his family stood with him as time went on. They were there for him to help him and encourage him in the restoration process. He married his wife, Michelle, on August 18, They have a son, Kade (18) and two daughters-kenley (8) and Kiley (2). Here is a summary in Joey s words: He says, I roped calves A Story of Restoration!!! A Call to Repentance!!! through High School rodeo days. I always wanted to ride Broncs, but parents wouldn t let me. After my High School roping horse died, instead of getting another calf horse I got a Bronc Saddle. I filled my PRCA permit that same year and made the Circuit Finals in the Saddle Bronc Riding. That was in I rodeoed pretty hard in 2000 my rookie year I won about $20,000. The guy I rodeoed with got hurt and went home during the July 4th run of rodeos; that s when I got started on drugs. I hadn t gotten much sleep when I got to the Greeley, CO rodeo, and had to be in Park Rapids, MN the next afternoon. I was exhausted. A guy gave me a little bag and told me to put this in some coffee; it would keep me awake. It was meth. In the Fall of 2000 I enrolled at McNeese State university. I won our college Region that year and made it to the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR). The next year I was winning the Region again when I started having problems with my shoulder dislocating. I had surgery in the spring of I took almost a year off. This is when my drug problem escalated. I got on a few broncs in 2003 and 2004 but I couldn t kick my drug habit and I ended up quitting. In 2006 my wife and I started dating. From then until July 11, 2013 I was doing drugs off and on. That s the day I was arrested. I spent a few months in jail. While I was in there I got to do a lot of reflecting on the poor decisions I had made and the people I had hurt and influenced in a negative way. I decided when I got out I didn t want to be like that anymore so I asked GOD that day for help. I started reading my Bible a lot and doing a lot of praying. 5 Joey Sonnier - A Story Of Restoration!!! A Call to Repentance!!! continued from page 4 and would call on Him when I needed Him, but I hadn t ever sincerely asked Him for help with my addiction until then. I got to come home in November. In January of 2014 I took my family to the rodeo here in Lafayette, Louisiana. This was the first rodeo I had been to in years. I made a decision that day that I wanted to ride again. And Joey was restored to his passion for riding Saddle Bronc horses. He began riding good again, traveling hard and winning. Joey rides Saddle Broncs in a saddle he made for himself to ride in. Others have noticed his talent as a saddle maker and they have seen him ride good and win in the saddle he made. They now want one also. He has a back load of orders for Bronc Saddles. His saddle making business is keeping him very busy between rodeos. Some he makes for the Miniature Saddle Bronc Riding events for young kids starting out. So Joey is able to be a part of the next generation of Bronc Riders careers. He also is able to use his story to help guide them in life s paths. And some PRCA Bronc Riders are now using his saddles and ordering from him. Joey is ready to share his story with his fellow rodeo cowboys to help them not make the decisions he made. He does not walk around feeling ashamed and condemned. He walks around feeling the love and forgiveness provided through Jesus death on the cross. He was winning at the rodeos, but knew he needed to change his lifestyle. He knew he was not pleasing to the Father in heaven. He said to me that he gave his life totally now to God. He commented, It hurts my heart now when I do it. I asked him. How long do you want ride Bareback Horses? How many years do you want to lose? Then I pointed Joey Sonnier out to him. I said, See that guy? He lost about 10 years because of drugs. God had restored him, and he is riding again, but those years are gone. I told Joey about the conversation and pointed to the young man. Joey said, I will talk with him. The young guy asked to meet to talk and pray about his temptations and choices. He was open to help and counsel. However, he disappeared for awhile and I did not see him later that night. I found out that Joey and him met in the dressing room after they rode, and talked for about half an hour or more. Joey told him to call if he ever needed too, even if it is 2 a.m. in the morning. I saw that young fellow the next afternoon at a rodeo. He was in the alley way of the arena before the rodeo. We visited. I rebuked the spirit of bondage to drugs in his life. He got baptized in the Holy Spirit right there. He said, I want to be baptized.( in water). I had just noticed a water trough in the rodeo stock pens. And I said, We can do it after the rodeo. Joey was able to stay after he rode and rejoice with us at the baptism at the rodeo. Joey still has some rodeo goals he would like to accomplish. So we should keep on seeing him riding Saddle Bronc horses, and enjoying the rodeo lifestyle and using the talent he has been blessed with. Life with its ups and downs have forged him into a better man, because he has in eyes on Jesus. We can get bitter or better. Joey decided to be better. Joey is ready to use his experiences to help others when the occasion arises. God works good out of our messes when we let him. Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. He is able to restore us, use us, and even help us get a good name back. We are glad to see Joey walking in the steps Jesus lays out for him now. We expect to keep hearing good things in is life as a rodeo cowboy riding Saddle Bronc horses, making saddles for his fellow competitors, and be a good example to those around him. He is now letting his light shine for Jesus. and the future looks much, much better. Keep your eyes on Joey Sonnier- he is a restored man. Thank You Jesus! 6 The Promise of Jesus Our Savior over 800 years before He was born in the stable in Jerusalem. Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. Immanuel means God with us! Jesus is Lord! Box 187, Blanco, Tx ON THE TRAIL We are back at the Fall PRCA Rodeos in Texas for ministry of the Word of God. And we are seeing good fruit as we disciple the cowboys and cowgirls. One young rodeo cowboy man confided in me recently at a rodeo that he had been smoking pot. He had been winning recently, but knew it was still not a good thing to be doing. He said, I have given my heart totally to God now, and it hurts my heart when I smoke that stuff now. He said It s an addiction. I need to stop. I introduced him to another cowboy who had lost years of rodeo competition and other things due to that habit and addiction. They talked for awhile, and I missed getting to counsel him later. But the next day I saw him again at before rodeo in the alley way. We spoke for a while. And I cast out the spirit of bondage which produces addiction and other sinful habits. He was baptized in the Holy Spirit right there in the alleyway before the rodeo. He said, I want to get baptized. He meant in water. I had just noticed some water troughs in the cattle pens before we talked. I thought, I can see myself baptizing someone in that water trough today. And sure enough it happened. We baptized him in water in a horse watering trough behind the rodeo arena that day with friends and others looking on. We saw him a few times since then and he is doing good in his walk with the Lord. He told my wife, Cherlyn, Since the deliverance and baptism he has not had any desire to smoke pot. We pray he stays free and has a good long successful rodeo career, and lives in a way that pleases the Lord. We spoke recently on such subjects as Protection from God and His angels after the mass shooting in Las Vegas, NV in October. Protection comes with faith, trust, angels, confessing and believing God s Word, and applying the Blood of Jesus over yourself, family, animals, and possessions. We ministered to disciple people recently at the Texarkana, Tx and Hempstead, Tx rodeos on such subjects as Protection (Psalm 91); Forgetting the Past and Pressing On to the upward call of God in Christ Jesus ( Phil 3;12-14); Deliverance from Generational Curses and Root Spirits which causes iniquities to be prevalent in our lives. (Read John Merry Christmas and have a 8:31-32, 36), and on Eternal Life and Abundant Life through Jesus Happy New Year on your Trail of Life. Christ (John 3:16-17, John 3:36, John 10:10). God s Best to you. I also counseled a couple about fornication-the sin of sex out of Ronnie Christian marriage. They were attentive. They want to serve God. I gave them the Sex Talk. It s about 30 second talk. We have seen about 10 couples get married after hearing this talk. We give it and let them go. The Holy Spirit works on them, and they decide to get their relationship right before God. Speak the truth in love and people will listen to you. Give them God s Word and let Him talk with them. If they are serious in wanting to be right with God they will repent and change the way they are living. They will desire to. This is true with any lifestyle or sinful habits we discuss with people. We are seeing people on the rodeo trail desire to serve God willingly when they make Jesus the Lord (Master) of their lives. Living a Christian life as Jesus desires for us is easy when we want to. It is hard when people try to make you. But when you fall in love with God and realize His way of doing things is the Best way to live, it becomes easy. It is easier to do something when you want to, not when you are made to. We will be at the WNFR again this year Presenting Jesus at the rodeo, trade fairs, Casinos and Hotels, and other places. Shawn Davis, General Manager of the WNFR is always helpful to provide Cowboy Preacher, Coy Huffman, and myself access to the contestants to give a very short message and pray with them just before competition each night. It is called Power Up. We do this just before the Grand Entry. When we say, Amen, they take off on their horses to the arena to compete. We encourage them with the Word of God for their competition and their personal lives. The rodeo world is blessed to have a lot of Christian cowboys and cowgirls, and rodeo committees that welcome us to have Cowboy Church and minister the love and power of Jesus. It has changed a whole nation (people group) known as rodeo for the good. Love of God and neighbor flows at rodeos. Thank You Lord!
