2 WELCOME TO BLOODFEST 7s 2018!!! In our 21st year we are providing the biggest Bloodfest experience ever with our new home at Round Rock Multipurpose Complex. The brand new complex features professional fields and facilities, including a large festival area and sponsor suites. We are very excited to work with the City of Round Rock and look forward to making this one of the best Bloodfest experiences ever! Another Bloodfest partner and the origin of our namesake- We Are Blood- continues to be a focus of our tournament efforts. The Central Texas blood bank supplies over forty hospitals in a ten county region and is vitally important to the health of our community. Through our partnership, we provide awareness for the center and its impact on the community and also promote blood drives.for more information and a listing of events please visit weareblood.org. Besides being the largest rugby tournament in Texas, Bloodfest is also home to a variance of rugby opportunities rivaling any tournament in the country. Our club has a long tradition of an all-inclusive environment and we continue this philosophy in our event planning. We pride ourselves in offering brackets for young and old and playing abilities across the board. We are very excited for our new and continued partnerships and the growth of Bloodfest 7s for the enjoyment of all participants and attendees. While the venue may change, our commitment to providing the BEST summer rugby experience for ALL spectators, sponsors, and participants continues. We are excited to welcome everyone, whether this is your first or 21st Bloodfest, and hope everyone has a successful and safe tournament experience! 4 BLOODFEST 7s RULES & GUIDELINES EVENT RULES Place all trash in trash cans. Drink responsibly; including more water. Alcohol must remain in the fixture. Outside alcohol is prohibited. DO NOT provide minors with alcohol. Avoid profanity, our kids are watching. Public nudity will not be tolerated unless allowed by a paramedic. Fighting will not be tolerated. TOURNAMENT RULES KICKING; As directed by the referee prior to the game. However, whether from behind or in front, not retrieving a kicked ball will be strictly enforced and will result in a free kick to the opposition. All teams should have a chaser. UNIFORMS: Torn shirts or jerseys are not allowed. Players must leave the field and replace a jersey (similar to blood sub). Also, players must match, or come close to matching, to the discretion of opposition and referee. POOLS: The Tournament Director has the right to move a team up or down a division to maintain competitiveness for playoffs. TIE BREAKER: (1) head-to-head; (2) within pool; (3) point differential SUBS: Five (5) subs maximum; unless noted at Captain s Meeting CIPP: ALL PLAYERS MUST BE CIPP REGISTERED, per ruling by USA Rugby. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. Offending teams/players may be kicked out of the tournament and subjected to future bans from Bloodfest 7s and other Huns RFC tournaments. Everyone is expected to treat the referees with respect 4

5 PREMIER AND OPEN DIVISIONS These divisions operate under the same rules. Teams must designate a 14-man roster to the referee tent prior to the playoffs. Twelve (12) players per game max. Pool play may end in a tie. Playoffs will be sudden death, if needed. SOCIAL DIVISIONS Open rosters, but remember this is a social tournament. Recruiting a ringer is not encouraged. Twelve (12) players per game max (with injury exception). Once a player leaves the pitch, they cannot return, even for an injury replacement IF other players are available. And, as we like to keep Bloodfest fun for all players, should ALL parties in a given match agree the substitution rule can be amended. Otherwise, standard Rugby Sevens laws apply. Pool play may end in a tie. Playoff will be sudden death if needed. SUPER SOCIAL DIVISION All players on your roster MUST be informed of the rules below and by stepping on the field it is assumed they have agreed to participate in this division. ALL PLAYERS MUST BE CIPPED! 1. Open roster, unlimited subs at stoppages in play. 2. No kicking for points. Try s scored based on zone ball is placed (center = 7, near center = 6, away = 5). 3. On a non-injurious penalty with play stopped, aggrieved teams can choose back 10 -or- 10 push-ups to the offending team and a scrum. Failure to comply is another penalty. 4. No player under 200 lbs (as determined by referee) shall score a try on a single run of more than 50% of the field. 5. Referee has discretion to implement Spirit of Super Social penalties when warranted. 6. Failure to retrieve a ball after a try will result in a penalty at the discretion of the referee. 7. If a player's score put a team up by 13+ points, scoring player is sin binned to the center of the field. Players are added for each additional score and subtracted when the team behind scores. The scoring sin bin is mid-field and this area is in play. Should a player leave the center area to interfere with play, a penalty try shall be assessed and that player removed from the game. 8. No game may end in a tie YET no tie may be broken on the field. 9. This is a Super Social Division. Should the referee, Division Coordinator, or Tournament Director believe a player is not playing in the spirit of the Super Social division and Bloodfest, he will be asked not to play any further Super Social games. 10.
