2 Why Trakai half marathon? This modern resort is a particularly appropriate place to hold international competitions. Both, Lithuanian runners and Trakai guests gathered from abroad, will be able to kill two birds with one stone try their strength at a running track and after the race explore the city, where every step is filled with Lithuanian history, and also try Lithuanian Karaites culinary heritage. Running route, as well as Trakai city, in comparison with many other routes is one of the greenest as it stretches along the coast of the lake and go into the city. The city itself is just 30 km from Vilnius.

3 Trakai Trakai a small Lithuanian city who had played a major role in our nation s history. Historical capital of ancient Lithuania fascinates with its wooden architecture, medieval castles, and magnificent scenery and at the same time a modern face of the town. Trakai cannot be imagined without the residencies of Lithuanian Grand Dukes living earlier in the Island and Peninsula Castles, karaites ethnography as well as sacred exhibitions. The pride of Lithuania, Trakai is the only in all Eastern Europe, situated in the island. At the end of the 14th-15th century Trakai castle was a summer residence of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania. Nowadays Trakai can be proclaimed being one of the most visited spots on the cultural tourism map. The medieval character of Trakai is used by numerous knights clubs that regularly organize their tournaments. The staging of ancient battles adds more effect to the Trakai castle. For visitors and tourists alike Trakai always proves to be an unexpected wonder. One can find wildlife reserves, landscapes, ornithological and other sanctuaries. The Trakai historical national park, which covers over 8,000 ha, preserves the regions uniqueness and its nature. It is the only one of this type in Europe. The heritage of Trakai cuisine is also very unique.

4 History In 2007 the first 15km running took place in Druskininkai. In a 10km running and in Druskininkai halfmarathons (21,097 km) were held. By moving this event closer to the capital, to Trakai, in 2013 we expect even greater popularity of the event.

8 Event s program The 10th of May 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. registration and issuance of numbers at Vilnius, Žemaitės g. 6 (athletics centre). The 11th of May 4 p.m. - 9 p.m. registration and issuance of numbers (Trakai,...) The 12th of May Issuance of numbers for participants of: 21,097 km., 10,5 km and relay races from 7.00 a.m. till 9.00 a.m. For other events till a.m. Starts: a.m. - 21,097 km a.m. - 2x10,5 km a.m. - 10,5 km a.m. Nordic walking 10,5 km a.m. 1 km Me and my family a.m. - 1 km a.m. - 5 km a.m. - Nordic walking 5 km

9 In Trakai half marathon 400 occasional PUMA running T-shirts for participants who registered first for half-marathon; All the participants who will finish the distance within the time limits will receive commemorative medals; We will organize a fair of sponsors and sport inventory at the event place; The largest team of the event (company, club, party) will be awarded; Runners who finished a half marathon (21,097 km) event will be able to get a free massage at the event place.

The sportiest collective of the event will become a team that will bring the biggest number of participants to the event. This team will be awarded with Trakai district municipality s special cup.

13 Free accommodation For participants convenience we offer a free accommodation at a Trakai primary-school s sport hall, Birutės street 42. To a start point 1,5km. Arrival is on the 11th of May, 2013 from 9 p.m. A participant should have his own sleeping bag and mattress. Places can be reserved till 6th of May by info@sportorenginiai.lt.

14 Why it is worth to run in Trakai For the last 10 years I live in Trakai, but here has probably never been a running competition of this level... On the 12th of May, 2013 the General Financing Trakai half-marathon will be held here. The idea of this event was very kindly met and unanimously approved in Trakai municipality. This shows that such events are very welcome and needed in this town! In order for the half-marathon to migrate from Druskininkai to Trakai a lot of people put their efforts and I think they will help even more for this half-marathon to become a massive, high-quality, fun and traditional event. Working as an athletics coach in Trakai, I encourage children to exercise and I will contribute whatever I can that sports fans and professionals would love the upcoming event. I know that a unique route filled with breathtaking views and history awaits the competition s participants.
