Finishing of the deck is standard gelcoat. The sloped edge near the side deck, besides the sprayhood, can be dangerous when you pass by. The handles on the deck are not built in like we see on the Sense models, but this offers more space below deck and it is not a problem for the movement on board. Page 5

The deklayout is unique with its new features, including two sun beds under the spray hood. The rectangular portholes and stretched out window on the upper deck give the Oceanis 55 a modern look. The right angles are also reflected in the interior. This silhouette of lines is also to be found in the shape of the hull. Page 7

9 Question Response Details Stay on board Finishing and quality Performance The wide stern creates a large cockpit where you can relax during your sailing trip or when you are in a harbor. The seating position for the skipper is rather Spartan. A plus point is the swimming platform that can be folded to a seating position. Below deck we see a spacious living room. In the new Oceanis 55 we recognize no traditional charter boat. The new Oceanis has the character of a luxury cruiser, as we see in the Sense models The finish is superb and the quality of materials is excellent for a model series that can be purchased as a charter boat. A nice detail on our test boat are the white steering wheels that are made of fiberglass (GRP) instead of stainless steel. Opening and closing of the covers of the storage spaces in the cockpit was not as smooth, despite the existing gas springs. The Oceanis 55 behaves during our test as a real globetrotter. The shape of the hull and the double rudder provides optimal steering effect and ensures that the boat is reliable even in heavy seastate. On downwind we hear somtimes a vibrating noise coming from the rudders, but this is not really a problem. The Oceanis is very easy to sail when your sails are properly trimmed. Even when we release the steering wheel the boat remains on course.
