Sailing holidays Z01: Crossing the English Channel, sailtraining Category E/A We will set sail on the first day, from the city center of Rotterdam off to Scheveningen, through the iconic Erasmus bridge. The next day we will cross the English Channel to Whitby, a distance of 230 miles with shipping lanes lots of shipping traffic and oil rigs. An educational crossing where we will sail through the night and where we have to use the radar and AIS, but we will also practice with ship light recognition. Whitby is a very beautiful and charming old fishing port. If the weather cooperates we will have some time left to recover and enjoy the cozy English atmosphere and sights After a night of rest, we sail further along the English coast up to Scotland. The wind determines the destination, but if it works out, we can make a stopover in, for example, eyemouth or the cozy Stonehaven. Also active sailing in a watch system and we have to keep a sharp lookout for shipping, fishing and wind farms. This sail-training ends in Peterhead. A working harbour full of supply vessels for the oil rigs. We We will end the trip in the pub, for a meal and a beer. Read more about our sail training Sailing holidays Z02: East coast Scotland & Orkney Islands Category B A sailing holiday along the Scottish east coast with authentic fishing villages and working harbours like Peterhead and Wick, but also the atmospheric small harbour of Whitehills. The day distances vary, depending on weather and tide, between 25 and 47 miles. The sailing area, the Moray Firth, is full of marine life, and we have seen many seals, special dolphins, but also orcas and whales before. From the mainland we will cross over to the Orkney Islands. To do this, we have to sail over the Pentland Firth, notorious for its strong tidal streams, which can reach 16 knots with spring tide, very special so to say. Next we will sail into the shelter of Scapa Flow, where we will spend the night on a very small island where we can take a short walk with beautiful views of the island Hoy and Scapa Flow. The next day we can take a long walk to the famous 'Old man of Hoy' with spectacular views over the ocean and the steep cliffs. Via the atmospheric port of Stromness we will sail outside to the island of Rousay, a beautiful sailing trip and a rustic spot. The next day we can take a nice walk to an estate with a beautiful garden and trees, which are fairly rare here in the north. Or alternatively, the enthusiast can visit some impressive excavations of the Bronze Age. The last day we will sail a short distance to Kirkwall, where we end this sailing holiday. The daily sailing distances are between 25 and 47 miles.

Sailing holidays Z03: Orkney & Shetland Isles + Fair Isle Category B/C An unique sailing holiday, from the cozy village of Kirkwall we will sail between the islands to the East. The wind will determine the exact destination and depending on the weather we will cross over to Fair Isle the next day, a distance of about 38 miles. Fair Isle is definitely a highlight where we will stay for a day to make a walk to the spectacular north coast. The atmosphere on the Island is unique, there is nothing in the harbour except stunning nature and a Bird Observatory, which is also a relaxed bar where we have a beautiful view of the harbour (with many seals) and where fans can learn more about all the special birds (such as the puffin or Skua). In the evening we will walk from the harbour up the cliff where we can see hundreds of Puffins go ashore on their way to their nest, due to the lack of tourists we can approach them up to one meter, an unforgettable experience. Then we cross over to the Shetland Islands, wether dependent most probably grutness Voe. where you can take a nice walk to the cliffs with stunning views over the Atlantic Ocean and Sumburg Head. Or alternatively you can walk to Jarlshof with prehistoric and Viking excavations. We will end this sailing voyage in the atmospheric harbor of Lerwick, where we will have dinner in a delicious restaurant. The daily sailing distances are between 20 and 38 miles. *If you would like you can book an extra night aboard in Lerwick, based on Bed and Breakfast for 50, so you can so that you can enjoy the town on your own. Sailing holidays Z04: To Fair Isle with Puffin photography Category B/C This trip is specifically focused on photography and extra time is scheduled for this. You ll get plenty of time (and some explanation) of how to set up your camera and take the most beautiful pictures. From Lerwick we will sail the first day to Grutness Voe, where you can take a nice walk to the cliffs with stunning views over the Atlantic Ocean and Sumburg Head. Or alternatively you can walk to Jarlshof with prehistoric and Viking excavations. The next day we cross over to Fair Isle. We will and end these sailing holidays in the authentic harbor of Scalloway, where we are going out for dinner. The daily sailing distances are between 18 and 38 miles. The above schedule is subject to weather, wind and tide.

Sailing holidays Z05: Crossing from Shetland to the Faroe Islands Category A/B Depending on the weather, we will sail a short stretch on the first day, to a Voe (bay) or harbour on Mainland Shetland. In this way, everyone can get used to the ship and the sea in an easy way. Then we have a distance of 185 miles to go to the Faroe Islands. With good weather conditions this will be about a day and a half non-stop, but it can also take a bit longer. Nevertheless, a nice journey in the wake of the Viking trail and what makes it very special is that the sun is hardly going down. If the weather cooperates, we have a few days left to explore the Southern Faroe Islands. Like Suduroy. Where we can make a beautiful walk to a beautiful cave and then enjoy a delicious snack in a cozy café afterwards. A spectacularly and beautiful sailing area. We will end this sailing holiday in cozy Tørshavn. The daily distances are between 20 and 185 nautical miles. The above schedule is subject to weather, wind and tide. Read more about our sailing holidays around the Faroe Islands Sailing holidays Z06: Explore the Faroe Islands Category C This sailing voyage is in a truly unique sailing area, with fantasy-like landscapes, high steep cliffs and beautiful waterfalls. It is also called little Iceland, but in terms of sailing it is even better because there are several islands and inlets where we can also sail with bad weather. Nature is spectacularly beautiful, a combination between Fair Isle and the Isle of Skye. Rough, desolate and spectacular cliffs. Abundant wildlife, houses with grass roofs and with a bit of luck we might encounter Whales or walruses. The conditions can be challenging, but because of the many islands, fjords and Sounds there are also many possibilities with shelter. In short, it will be a voyage of exploration, where we will visit as many different islands as possible, depending on the possibilities. The breathtaking Bird Cliffs of Vestmanna will be on the program where. In good conditions we will also sail past the famous 'Stack Drangarnir', where the surrounding rocks and islands are even more impressive. Also some sightseeing is on the program, such as a bus tour to the beautiful waterfall of Gasadalur (optional, so not included in the price), or just walk up to a high mountain for beautiful views, the Cherokee will stay in the harbor that day. We will be in port or at anchor every night, which of course leaves time for land reconnaissance.because it does not really get dark, there is even extra time for this. 7 Sailing holidays Z09: Crossing from the Faroe Islands to the Outer Hebrides Category A/B Depending on the weather, we will sail the first day to one of the southern islands of the Faroe Islands. In this way, everyone can get used to the ship and the sea. Then we have a distance of 200 miles to go to Scottish waters. With good weather conditions, this will be little more than one and a half day nonstop, but it can also be more. The destination is determined by the weather, Kinlochbervie on the Scottish mainland, or perhaps an anchorage on the west side of Lewis or Harris. With very good weather we could even sail to St. Kilda. A particularly beautiful island in the middle of the ocean, uninhabited and on many people s bucket-list. Conveniently, the sun almost does not go down so far north, which means we can benefit from the daylight for a long time. If the weather cooperates, we have a few days to explore the Outer Hebrides. We will end this sailing holiday in Stornoway, where we end the trip in a nice restaurant and a cozy pub. The daily sailing distances are between 40 and 230 miles. Read more about our sailing holidays around the Faroe Islands *If you would like you can book an extra night aboard in Stornoway, based on Bed and Breakfast for 50, so you can so that you can enjoy the town on your own. Sailing holidays Z10: Island hopping Hebrides Category C The first day will sail south, along the impressive cliffs of the Shiant islands, where we possibly anchor, depending on the weather. Then we cross over to the beautiful port of Gairloch on the mainland, where enthusiasts can make a beautiful walk. The next day we go to Rona, a beautiful island with a sheltered anchorage, which former Vikings and smugglers loved to use. Then we will sail further to Portree on the isle of Skye where we remain a day to make a walk (4 hours) to the impressive Storr, where we have a beautiful view over the Isle of Sky, sea and surrounding islands. Alternatively, it is also possible to make a nice bus tour on the Isle. The daily sailing distances are between 10 and 30 miles. Sailing holidays Z11: Island hopping: Inner Hebrides Category C The first day we will sail a short distance and we will anchor in the beautiful Loch Duich in front of the famous Eilean Donan Castle, which we will visit with the dinghy. A nice and attractively furnished castle on a lovely spot. The next day (or evening, depending on the tide) we will sail through an infamous tidal race, the Kyle Rhea, to one of the most beautiful lochs in Scotland, where we drop anchor. Then we sail to Mallaig, a nice place with a new marina, luxurious facilities and a delicious baky. The next day we will, depending on the wind, anchor at the most spectacular anchorage of Scotland and make a spectaculair walk. After that we sail to another beautiful anchorage in a narrow and shallow loch in the Mainland. We also go to the picturesque and lively harbor of Tobermory (whiskey distillery next to the port). The last day we sail through the Sound of Mull and end these sailing holidays in lively Oban, where we will have a nice supper in town. The daily distances are between 10 and 25 miles.

Sailing holidays Z12: Sailing holidays Crinan Canal & the Clyde Category C/F A short sailing voyage, ideal for an introduction to the beautiful Scottish West coast. From Oban we set sail south over the 'Corryvreckan'. Famous for its strong currents and Eddies, but also with beautiful nature and many islands. We ll go through the sea lock of Crinan, where we can go ashore for a nice walk through a beautiful rustic landscape. The next day we ll sail through the Crinan Canal, Scotland's most beautiful short cut through the Highlands. A channel with 15 narrow locks where we just fit into, and we can operate them ourselves. A very special experience through a beautiful landscape. We stay in the canal for one more night. The next day we sail to open water again to the beautiful harbor of Tarbert. We continue around the island of Bute. Very nice and very narrow, which means som active active sailing and enjoying the beautiful nature. Via the Firth of Clyde we sail to Greenock, where we go out for dinner to finish the sailing trip. The daily distances are between 15 and 25 miles. Sailing holidays Z13: Sailing from Scotland to Northern Ireland Category C From the Firth of Clyde we will sail to the island of Bute and Arran, two beautiful islands where there will be some time left to make a stroll. We then sail to the Kintyre peninsula, Made famous by Paul McCartney from the beatlles.the next day we cross over to Glenarm on the Irish coast, where enthusiasts can make a short but nice woodland walk. Via Carrickfergus we will sail to bustling Belfast where you can take a typical English Black Cab city tour to see the characteristic Murals, a political tour explaining the troubles' that still slumber. Titanic enthusiasts can take a visit to the new and impressive Titanic Museum. The day distances, these sailing holidays are between 11 and 29 miles. If you would like, you can book an extra overnight stay in Belfast on the basis of Bed and Breakfast for 50, - so that you can enjoy the city on your own or visit the Titanic museum for example. Read more about our sailing holidays in Ireland. Sailing holidays Z14: Sailing holiday Ireland Category B/C From Belfast we sail up to the Irish Sea and head to the beautiful and large marina of Bangor. The next day we will sail, when wind and tide allows, to Strangford Lough. Here is a very strong current so the conditions should cooperate. The next day there will be the opportunity to go to the "Mount Stewart garden, this botanical garden is in the top five of the world and is definitely recommended. At the end of the day we go to the other side of the entrance, one mile away to the pretty village of Portaferry where you can make a nice walk in the evening. Most probably, we will sail the next day to Carlingford lough, an impressive fjord with strong currents and wonderful views on the Mourne mountains and with a nice authentic village. The Irish are the most friendly and hospitable people of Europe and the pubs are a nice closure at the end of the day. We sail further on to Malahide, a longer day of sailing with 39 miles, where we have to go through a shallow river entrance with the right tide. A beautiful place and a little seaside resort of Dublin. We end this sailing holiday in the vibrant and charming Dublin, where we, obviously, walk into the old town to eat at a pub and listen to traditional Irish music. The daily distances this sailing holiday are between 11 and 39 miles. Read more about our sailing holidays in Ireland. *If you would like you can book an extra night aboard in Dublin, based on Bed and Breakfast for 50, so you can so that you can enjoy the town on your own.

Sailing holidays Z15: Crossing; Ireland - U.K. Cornwall (320M) Category A From Dublin we will set sail to Fallmouth, across the Celtic Sea, to the Scilly islands and beautifull Cornwall. Weather and tide will ultimately determine our route, but the plan is to do this in legs. The first day we will remain at the Irish coast, so that everyone can get used to the ship. We then cross over to the Scilly islands, a distance of about 200 miles. If the weather cooperates, we will have some time to look around in this beautiful area and prepare for the next leg to Falmouth. On this leg we will go round Land's End and sail into the English channel. Falmouth is a lovely and cozy harbor, where we will end the trip in a nice restaurant in the evening and of enjoy a beer in a cozy pub. A special sea sailing voyage with probably beautiful sunset and sunrises, dolphins. This sea sailing voyage is a nice combination of making miles, sail at night, but also with a nice variety on shore. Sailing holidays Z16: Discover Cornwall & Devon Category C/F From beautiful Falmouth we sail past medieval harbors on the British Southwest coast to Exeter. The ports are beautifully situated on wooded estuaries, with a cozy British atmosphere. On the program are the picturesque towns of Fowey and Charlestown, where there will also be time to walk around. In short, a relaxed sailing holiday in a beautiful sailing area that is very different from our other sailing areas. When I first came here 2 years ago, I was amazed by the beauty of this area. Because of the many bakeries that are still here, we will also have fresh bread and croissants from the bakery almost every morning for breakfast The day-distances vary between 6 and 22 miles. Sailing holidays Z17: Devon, Britanny & Channel Islands Category B/C From Exeter we sail South along the coast from Devon to Salcombe and Darthmouth. A beautiful and picturesque river estuary. Then we cross over to the Channel Islands, a distance of 66 miles, so that means we will arrive late. We probably go to a nice anchorage at Herm or Sark. The next destination depends on the weather forecast, another Channel Island or maybe we sail to Brittany. The island archipelago of Ile de Brehat is one of our goals as well as the beautiful estuary to Lezardieux where there is a marina. At Ile de Brehat we go at anchor and ashore for a beautiful walk. The tidal range (difference between ebb and flood) is huge. This is one of the charming things of sailing in this area, strong tidal currents and a large tidal difference of up to 12 meters with spring tide. "Not for the faint hearted" as the British say. Due to the large tidal difference the scenery is constantly changing and with the many unique rock formations that is a wonderful sight. Next we sail back to the Channel Islands. Also a special sailing area with the typical British friendly atmosphere and beautiful scenery combined. The tide is the clock and we will have to sail with the flow and calculate when we can go in or out the harbors. After, or before the sailing, there is also time to walk along the coast or in the cozy towns. This sailing holiday is a nice mixture between the French and British culture, with delicious croissants at breakfast and cozy pubs in the evening. Moreover relaxed sailing along beautiful scenery with spectacular tides and also time for sightseeing. We end up in St. Peter port on Guernsey. The day-distances vary between 7 and 66 miles.

Sailing holidays Z18: Crossing; Channel Islands to Holland (365M) Category A From Geurnsy we set sail to Cherbourg in Normandy, perhaps with a short tidal-stop on Alderny to cross the 'Alderny Race' under favorable conditions. From Cherbourg we shall sail over the English Channel to Rotterdam. Weather and tide will ultimately determine our route, but the plan is to do this in easy legs, where we will visit the nicest ports. The first day we sail to Honfleur, a beautiful picturesque medieval village. A Leg of about 85 miles where we have to sail up the Seine and go through a lock, but totally worth it. This beautiful village is still entirely in the Norwegian style (built by the Normans) and there are a lot of terraces at the harbor. If the weather cooperates, we arrive early in the (next) morning, so we still have time to stroll around. The next day we will sail 65 miles further to Dieppe, a typical Norman port with usually quite spectacular entrance at the characteristic wooden harbor head perpendicular to the current. Then we sail to Dover, one leg of about 80 miles. Dover is a working harbor, but particularly famous due to the 'White Cliffs' and with ferries coming and going all the time. Nice to see and therefore we will have to ask permission to enter, probably a nighttime entry. If the weather cooperates, we still have enough time to visit Dover Castle, or to walk on the white cliffs of Dover with stunning views across the English Channel. Then comes the last leg of 140 miles to Rotterdam, our seasonal closure. The approach of the New Waterway is impressive and the last part the city center is very nice with the beautiful new skyline. We will sail under the iconic Erasmus Bridge.
