1 19 th April 2015 Dear Members, The following exciting announcement was recently released by the Australian 16ft Skiff Association. To compliment this information the club would like to provide all members with some exciting updates on the funding support packages and prize money for the 2015 / 2016 season at Manly. From the Australian 16ft Skiff Association 18 th April 2015 Dear Members, The ASSA would like to provide all members with some exciting updates on the new 16ft Skiffs which will be ready to race in season 2015/16. NEW 16FT SKIFFS The ASSA in partnership with Manly 16ft Skiff Sailing Club, the Belmont 16ft Sailing Club and the NSW 16ft Skiff Association, recently placed an initial order for 8 new 16ft Skiff hulls which are now available for purchase. These hulls have been sourced in an attempt to reduce the escalating cost of a purchasing a new 16ft Skiff, further to facilitate a short acquirement time for members wishing to purchase the new skiffs. As part of the hull acquirement process the ASSA in conjunction with Manly Skiff Club have sourced suppliers that have supported the project and offered heavily discounted pricing for multiple orders. This has allowed the ASSA with financial support from Manly to offer complete, ready to sail skiffs for an affordable yet highly competitive price. To date those suppliers being Ronstan, CST and Truflo sails. We thank those suppliers for their support in start-up. Further expressions of interest are available and application can be made through the contact below.

2 These new hulls will be available for purchase and collection prior to September 2015 and we are now able to provide details of the packages available for hulls and complete skiffs, the estimated pricing (TBC after prototype has been received and reviewed). We note that the values are subject to change without notice The following two packages are now available, with additional parts or packages to possibly be made available in the future: 1. NEW HULL PACKAGE (Package 1) = $20, plus GST This package includes the hull, one carbon centreboard 180cm long, one fitted rudder, and one cradle. The hull is full carbon with high heat foam. The hull will be delivered in "carbon black finish" ready to sail (purchasers may paint the hull in alternative colours at their own expense and arrangement if required). The hull, including solids and kick out bars, is ready for fitting including jib tracks. A centreboard box is used which allows for use of other centreboards. No tiller extension is included. Estimated weight of hull will be 57 to 60kg. 2. COMPLETE NEW SKIFF PACKAGE (Package 2) = $46, plus GST Includes everything listed in the "NEW HULLS" package plus: Truflo Sails package consisting of 1 x No 1 Main (choice of clear skiff cloth), 1 x No 2 Main (choice of clear Skiff cloth), 1 x No 1 Headsail (clear cloth), 1 x No 2 Headsail (clear cloth), 1 x No 3 Headsail (clear cloth), 1 x No 1 Spinnaker ( 1 colour), 1 x No 2 Spinnaker ( 1 colour). We note similar packages are available from other suppliers however minimum orders of 5 skiffs apply CST Spars package consisting of (all in high modulus carbon) 1 x No 1 Mast and Spreaders, 1 x No 2 Mast and Spreaders, 1 x Boom (oval or rectangle), 2 x whisker poles, 1 x spinnaker pole. The mast include keyways and mast plug, gooseneck fitting and D1 fitting. They do not include stainless head fitting, this is included in rigging package. The pole includes dolphin striker and keyways. It does not include aluminium pole end, this is included in spar fitout package. The boom includes vang attachment, mainsheet attachments, gooseneck and outhaul precut holes ready for spar fitting package. The spar package is available for separate orders and does not need to be made as part of the complete hull package. Fitting package consisting of Ronstan fittings for a full boat fit out (fitting to boat included), mast step, spinnaker bag, EVA foam to gunwales (top sides and cockpit - colours available but awaiting confirmation), cradle fittings and straps, foot straps for floor. Ropes package consisting of all ropes required including rigging and set up. Spar fit out package including turnbuckles (to be calibrated) and wire rigging for 2 masts (with fit out as per standard skiff with turnbuckles on shrouds, D1's and D2's), 2 x Stainless mast tops, 3 x forestays, boom fit out, spinnaker pole fit out including aluminium end plug.

3 ITEMS NOT INCLUDED: Tactic, foil bags, gunwale foot straps, mast stepping and tune, tiller extensions, 2 nd centreboard, trailer, cover, any other item not specifically noted above as an inclusion. Please note that these prices are expected to be very close however variations may be made after the prototype has been evaluated and any required changes made. The price is also subject to change due to the AUD exchange rate at the time of purchase. Pricing is for the initial batch of skiffs and will be reviewed batch by batch. In the initial batch there is one prototype and 8 hulls available. The ASSA would now like to ask for expressions of interest from members wanting to buy packages in the form of an to the NSW ASSOCIATION DELEGATE to the ASSA Mr Clint Bowen(clint.fluid@gmail.com), confirming which of the above two packages you would like to purchase or part packages where available. Allocation will be made in order of receipt of an expression of interest. Should you be offered a package you will be required to place a non-refundable deposit of $1, immediately to hold your package allocation until final pricing is confirmed. Upon confirmation of final pricing you will be required to top up your deposit to 30% of the total package value, followed by payment of the 70% balance before taking delivery of the package at some stage prior to September Should there be any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to make contact on any of the details shown below. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE NEW 16FT SKIFFS To assist members in purchasing new 16ft Skiffs the club has made the following financial assistance packages available to members who meet the associated criteria: 1. FOR PACKAGE 1 ABOVE HULL ONLY Eligible members who purchase package 1 will be granted a non repayable subsidy equivalent to 10% of the hull cost. So should the Hull package be confirmed at a cost of $20,000 excluding GST, the club will provide a non repayable subsidy of $2,000. The purchaser will be required to pay the remaining $18,000 plus GST ($19,800 including GST).

4 2. FOR PACKAGE 2 ABOVE COMPLETE NEW SKIFF Eligible members who purchase outright package 2 will be granted a non repayable subsidy to the value of $13,000. So if the cost of the package is confirmed at $46,000 excluding GST, the purchaser will be required to pay the remaining $33,000 plus GST ($36,300 including GST). OR Eligible members who purchase package 2 above may apply for, and if accepted, received repayable funding assistance of $30,000 from the club. With this option the club will provide a non repayable subsidy equivalent to 10% of the purchase price. So if the cost of the package is confirmed as being $46,000 excluding GST, the purchaser will receive a subsidy of $4,600 and funding assistance of $30,000, leaving $11,400 plus GST ($15,540 including GST) to be paid by the purchaser. The criteria to be eligible for this package includes, but is not limited to, the purchaser being a member, all prize money will be allocated to repaying the $30,000, A minimum of $10,000 per season must be paid off or the purchaser must top up the repayments to this level from personal sources, The entire skiff will remain in ownership of the club until the $30,000 is completely repaid, the skiff must sail in 80% of club scheduled races each season. The criteria required to be met for all financial assistance packages includes but is not limited to the following: All owner/s must have sailed at least 2 seasons in 16ft skiffs at Manly. If the prospective owner/s have sailed 16ft skiffs at any other club more recently than their last 2 seasons at Manly, then they are not eligible until they have completed 2 Manly based seasons sailing 80% of club scheduled races. The only exception to this rule is owner/s who have started 80% of club scheduled 13ft skiff races in the season immediately prior and the owner/s were eligible to compete for the 13ft Skiff Australian Championship held during that preceding season (specifically age). Application for these funding packages must be made in writing to the Board of Directors and the Board reserves the right to accept or decline any such applications at its sole discretion. Successful applicants will be required to sign an agreement accepting all the terms and conditions before funding will be available. The club would now like to ask for expressions of interest from members wanting to buy 16ft skiffs and take advantage of any of our financial assistance packages in the form of an to the Commodore, Mr Grant Windsham (grant.windsham@transportsafetysolutions.com.au), confirming which of the above two 16ft skiff packages you would like to purchase and what financial support package you would like to apply for.

5 FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE SECOND HAND 16FT SKIFFS To assist members in purchasing second hand 16ft Skiffs and gear the club has made the following financial assistance package available to members who meet the associated criteria: Advances of prize money will be available to eligible members up to an amount of $10, not exceeding 80% of the value of the purchase. Any member who sailed in the 13ft Skiff division at the club in the previous season, completing at least 80% of club scheduled races and were eligible to compete for the 13ft Skiff Australian Championship in that season (age rule), may apply for up to $13, not exceeding the value of the purchase. Application for these funding packages must be made in writing to the Board of Directors and the Board reserves the right to accept or decline any such applications at its sole discretion. Successful applicants will be required to sign an agreement accepting all the terms and conditions before funding will be available. PRIZEMONEY FOR 2015/16 SAILING SEASON Currently we have reviewed and finalised the prize money payable for 16ft skiffs recorded as a starter and or a finisher in any club programmed event at Manly. These amounts have been increased to the following: 16ft Skiff Start = $200 16ft Skiff Finish = $200 These amounts are halved for skiff owners who last sailed 16ft skiffs at another 16ft skiff club. This is a significant increase in money paid for participation in 16ft Skiff races at the Manly. We are now reviewing prize money offered for performance based results and will advise details when resolved. Prize money for St George based 16ft Skiffs, along with 13ft Skiff prize money, and the advance of prize money system for 13ft Skiffs, is unchanged for 2015/16 season. Grant Windsham Commodore
