1 MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET OXIQUIM requests its clients or who receives the present Material Safety Data Sheet to read carefully so that he knows and understands the dangers associated to the product. It is convenient that the reader consults reference works or experts in the product in order to understand and to use the information contained in the present MSDS. In order to assure the correct manipulation of the substance, you should: 1.- Communicate yours employees, agents and contractors or any other person that can use this material, the information contained on this safety data sheet as well as any other information related to the risks and measures of security. 2.- Give a copy to each one of your clients for this product, and 3.- Provide this same information to each one of their clients for this product, besides of requesting to their clients that notify to their employees, clients and other users of the product with this information. 2 Section 3: Risks Identification Label : CORROSIVE Hazard clasification of the chemical product: Health: 1 Flammability: 0 Reactivity: 0 a) Health hazards : Harmful when it gets in contact with the skin, and when it is swallowed Effects of an acute overexposure (only once): Inhalation : May cause irritation in nose and throat, and nauseas Skin contact : The prolonged contact may cause serious burns. Eye contact : It exists danger of permanent damage and serious burns. Ingestion : It causes nauseas, sickness, vomits and stomachaches. Effects of a chronic overexposure (long term): There are not known adverse effects of long term exposure to the product. Medical conditions that are going to be aggravated on exposure to the product : People with lung conditions should not be exposed to the product. If you present skin allergies it is also recommended to avoid the product. b) Risks for the environment: The spillage of the product in rivers and courses of water could be harmful for aquatic life. The corrosive character of the product, impels to have special precautions in this field. c) Special hazards of the product: The product has a light toxicity, increased due to the corrosive character of the product. Section 4: First Aid Measures In case of accidental contact with the product, take the following measures: Inhalation : Remove victim from contaminated atmosphere. Obtain immediate medical attention. Skin contact : At least for 15 minutes wash with a plentiful of drinkable water.remove contaminated clothing as soon as possible. Eye contact : Immediately wash with large quantities of water. Obtain immediate medical attention. Ingestion : Wash mouth with water. Afterwards, dirk water or milk. Get medical attention. Notes for the medical doctor: It doesn't exist specific antidote. 3 Section 5: Fire fighting measures Extinction agents: The product is not flammable. Special procedures for fighting the fire: Refrigerate containers exposed to the fire. Attack the fire from the longest possible distance. Personal protection equipment for fighting the fire : Not necessary. In case the product gets involved in fire, use breathing autonomous protection (SCBA). Section 6 : Measures to control spills or leaks Emergency measures in case of a spill of material: Make a dam around the area in order to contain the spillage. Mix with sand in order to make easier its recollection and further disposal. Personal protection equipment for controlling the emergency: Autonomous breathing apparatus (SCBA), and appropriate protection for eyes and skin. Precautions to avoid damage to the environment: Avoid the spill of product in sources of water. Cleaning methods : After picking all the material, the remains may be washed with abundant water. Waste disposal method : The recommended method is incineration in facilities devoted to this kind of disposal. Section 7: Handling and storage Technical Recommendations: The product should be protected from heat, because temperature accelerates its maturation. Precautions to take : Protect from direct sun rays. Specific Recommendations about safe handling : The product should be managed with the cautions associated to corrosive products, with a light toxicity. Storage conditions : It should be stored in a fresh and dry place, protected from direct sun rays. Recommended and inadequate packing : High density polyethylene drums, and iron tanks.
