10 PneumoniaCheck PneumoniaCheck is a specimen transport and storage container designed to collect uncontaminated lung samples, noninvasively. Patients simply cough into the device. It uses fluid mechanics to separate upper and lower airway aerosols to collect uncontaminated lung specimens. PneumoniaCheck is designed, and tested for PCR analysis, which can provide next day results. Uncontaminated identification of lung specimens is critical in effectively treating lower respiratory infections such as pneumonia. This identification may lead to decreased antibiotic resistance, hospital length of stays, and overall healthcare costs.
