4 Tour of Santa Clara Senior Center / Aquatic Facility, 4/26/07 City of Berkeley: John Rosenbrock, Paul Church and Audrey Cazden (typed up notes from tour) One Warm Pool: Jo Ann Cook and Juanita Kirby Councilman Hunsacker Aquatic Consultant Trish Soto ELS Architects: Ed Noland and Dave Petta Overview of facility: Larry Wolf, Director of the City of Santa Clara Dept. of Parks and Recreation Pool tour: Trish Soto, facility designer; Jessica Carter, Senior Center Coordinator State of the art senior facility, built along with a new fitness center in February, 2007 and attached to existing Santa Clara Senior Center (cost: approx, $14 million, provided by local business taxes) 3 pool system; different temperature and uses 1. Lap pool: 82 degrees, 3 lanes Lap swimming, limited to 6 swimmers / lane H 2 0 (Water ) Aerobics Pilates 2. Therapy pool ; 92 degrees Has special features (limits the uses and population served) Underwater grab-bars Dry ramp With these special features it must always be supervised by a therapist The general public cannot be allowed in the pool Numerous classes Arthritis Low Back Post Stroke Ai Chi Beginning Conditioning Group classes are held under the auspices of Santa Clara Unified School District Adult Education Therapists are also certified by the Adult Education department FYI: possible revenue source is reimbursement for water therapy, must meet Medi-care guidelines: -Must be one on one -No one else can be in the pool during therapy sessions Task: Confirm Medi-card reimbursement policy 3. 29 Guldmann Lifting and Transferring Accessories On the following pages we present a wide range of lifting and transferring accessories. In combination with our mobile and ceiling-mounted hoists, these accessories will help ensure that lifting and transferring of people with disabilities is completed in a safe and comfortable manner for both the user and caregiver. A condition for working efficiently and safely is to choose, in every instance, the correct type of product in the proper size and understand its use in the best possible way. At Guldmann, we constantly strive to simplify our products and to make them more user friendly for the daily work environment. We offer guidance for selecting the proper products and training programs for individuals and professional staff.
