4 nordic hot tubs range WHAT SHOULD I CONSIDER WHEN BUYING A HOT TUB? Buying a hot tub can be a daunting process when there are so many to choose from in the marketplace today. Nordic hot tubs are produced and developed in the USA with over 30 years of experience in the field. When deciding on the right size of hot tub that will suit your needs, one important point to consider is the capacity. Many manufacturers provide outside dimensions to demonstrate the size of the tubs they offer. However, if the internal shell is shallow then the actual bathing space is reduced. To enjoy your tub to the maximum, the water should reach shoulder level otherwise the hydrotherapy pulsation of the jets cannot massage the tension from areas such as the muscle tissue between the shoulder blades. By checking the volume of the spa, you can decide on which will provide you with the most roomy seating and spacious loungers. All Nordic hot tubs are designed with the depth in the seating area and not the footwells to maximise the hydrotherapy effect. WHERE COULD I PUT A HOT TUB? Generally hot tubs are placed outside; All the better to enjoy the contrast of the cool air and the steamy water in the tub. However, they can be located in buildings such as conservatories etc if suitable ventilation and drainage can be available and the floor is of a type to withstand the full weight of a garden spa. ARE THEY EASY TO INSTALL? All Nordic hot tubs are easy to install. All equipment and plumbing is fitted during the manufacturing process so each spa is supplied as a complete unit ready to place into position. Access can be made to most sites, however difficult they may seem. Most hot tubs can be manually lifted into position although suitable lifting apparatus is used where necessary. Each Nordic installation is discussed in detail and assessed individually to ensure that each tub arrives and is placed in position as smoothly and easily as possible. WHAT SORT OF PREPARATION IS NEEDED? You will need to ensure that a suitable dedicated (RCD protected) 30 amp electrical supply is in place and a solid, level concrete base or paved area suitable to accept the full weight of a hot tub. All the specifications for each hot tub are given in this brochure and the Nordic Sales Office are on hand to advise on individual installations. 4

5 nordic hot tubs range HOW DO YOU FILL AND EMPTY THE HOT TUBS? The hot tub is filled easily with cold water from a garden hose so no extra plumbing is necessary. The built-in heater takes around 24 hours to reach the ideal temperature of approximately 38ºC. After the initial set-up process of ensuring the water is disinfected it is ready to use. Emptying the hot tubs is equally easy. Each tub has the facility to pump the water out to the nearest drain via a hose so eliminating the need for costly or complicated emptying devices such as auxilliary pumps or removing the water by bucket. Each Nordic hot tub has an access panel on each side to ensure maintenance can be carried out as easily as possible. All parts of the plant equipment and pipework are easy to see and are accessible. ARE HOT TUBS EXPENSIVE TO RUN? The average cost of running a hot tub is approximately per month (based on prior research), depending on the usual running temperature, the size of the tub and how often it is used. Each Nordic hot tub features a standard Economy setting which can be set during those times when the spa is not being used. This reduces the temperature by approximately 10ºC which means that it is still warm enough to reheat in a relatively short time when you wish to use it. In addition, each Nordic hot tub is supplied with a fully insulated rigid cover to insulate the interior. This is also backed up by a soft, floating cover (insulated foam), which sits inside the spa, floating on the surface of the water to prevent wasted heat loss. HOW DO I KEEP THE WATER CLEAN? Nordic hot tubs are easy to maintain. All spas feature a top-loading filter chamber. Each chamber contains the filter cartridge which is straightforward to remove and clean. Inside the cartridge is a chemical feeder cylinder which can be filled with your chosen sanitising agent (such as bromine or chlorine tablets, for example). The automatic filtration cycles are pre-programmed and will ensure the water is regularly fed through the weir to filter out particles of debris and stop them floating back into the water. Each spa also features a bank of suction nozzles at foot level to clear small particles from the bottom of the tub. HOW DO I PREPARE THE HOT TUB WHEN I WISH TO USE IT? A straightforward procedure is to always ensure the water is chemically treated and ready for use. Then, allowing a little time, check the temperature of the water and adjust if the economy setting has been used. When the spa is ready, simply lift off the covers and get ready to relax! The soft, insulating cover can simply be rolled up and stored while you are using the spa. All spas feature a top-loading filter chamber Ozone function is fitted as standard to all Nordic tubs and this works alongside regular chemical treatment. Using the ozone function means that fewer chemicals are needed which is better for the environment and kinder to the skin. With standard use, a hot tub should be emptied around 3-4 times per year to refresh the water. Our installers will leave you with a chemical starter kit together with an easy-to-follow guide to help get you into the routine of looking after the spa water. Following the simple instructions will ensure that the water is always pure and ready to use whenever you feel like relaxing into your hot tub. 5

6 nordic hot tubs range RIGID INSULATING SPA COVER The rigid, insulating cover is specially manufactured in a lightweight material with a central fold and is attached to the spa using clips mounted to the side of the tub, for extra security. It very easy for one person to remove by hand. Alternatively, a Cover Butler is also available to order together with a cover stand. This is a large framework that you can use to remove the cover which releases it onto wooden supports. These prevent the cover from picking up loose debris from the ground when it is stored. Designed for strength, beauty and easy maintenance THE SPA SHELL When choosing a hot tub, it is vital to ensure that the shell is built to last. All Nordic hot tubs are manufactured using a patented 4-layer process called Durashell to give exceptional resilience. Durashell combines Aristech Quarite acrylic sheet layered with double strengthening materials, ABS and Hyrizon. The hot tub is then insulated with a thick layer of highdensity polyurethane foam. ARISTECH PLUS QUARITE ACRYLIC Quarite acrylic is a tough, non-porous material which resists the staining which can occur from a build up of body oils and lotions enough to ruin some non-acrylic spas. Very easy to maintain, Aristech acrylic should simply be sponged with soapy water. No additional polishing or waxing is needed to maintain the finish. Robust enough to bear high temperatures, exposure to sunlight, sanitising chemicals it is even resilient enough to resist denting, cracking and chipping. 8 nordic hot tubs range CABINET Although the shell of the hot tub is fully insulated, another thick coating of high-density foam is applied inside the wooden cabinet. This extra insulation not only helps the spa retain the heat for longer warm air is recycled from the internal cavity helping to lower the daily running costs. All cabinets are hand-made by carpenters using pure Californian redwood, using the same techniques as traditional furniture makers. Californian redwood has a distinctive, richness in colour and is also milled from sustainable forests to conserve our natural resources. If desired, the cabinet can be treated with a suitable wood preservative. If left untreated, the redwood will turn silvery grey in colour with time. Nordic hot tubs are available as Natural Redwood, Pale Redwood (Clear sealed) or Coastal Grey. NON-SLIP SURFACE All Nordic hot tubs have an easy-access, non-slip step to walk in and out of the spa. Specially designed and sealed to withstand damage from the elements or any cleaning materials, they are easy to use and completely safe. Made from tough Lexan plastic with Piezo touch switches, the control pad is filled with silicon to keep all the components safe. With no moving parts or air gaps, the unit is sealed to avoid corrosion or electrical faults. The Soft-Touch controls are back lit to ensure they are easy to read at night. Controlled by a micro-processor, the controls have a diagnostic feature so that any problem that could occur is clearly visible on the display. 9 nordic hot tubs range ENERGY CONSERVATION SYSTEM Heat produced by the plant equipment is not vented away, but recycled. As water moves through the hydro system towards the jets, it draws in air which is known as Venturi. This air is taken from the warm insulated air circulating inside the cabinet and helps warm the water in the jets Saving money and conserving energy. Manifold plumbing FRAMEWORK In addition to using the solid Durashell moulded interior and the finely constructed redwood cabinets, the framework of the hot tub is equally important. All Nordic hot tubs have a pressure treated framework to ensure that the unit is manufactured correctly and is free from warping or movement to ensure the longevity of the spa. The moisture resistant polyethylene base protects the underside of the hot tub from dirt and debris that could rise on installation. MANIFOLD PLUMBING The manifold plumbing is designed to balance water pressure distribution and reduce the number of plumbing joints. This maximises the water flow and minimises the stress on joints over many years of use. High-flow pumps HIGH-FLOW PUMPS The efficient and reliable High-Flow pump system is used in all hot tubs. Either one or two pumps are used in the spas to ensure that the jets are continuously served with a strong flow of warm water. Hot tub heating system HOT TUB HEATING SYSTEM A 5.5kW heater in used in all hot tubs to ensure the quickest and most efficient heating time is achieved. AIR BLOWER A fully adjustable 3-speed air blower is fitted in all spas. Rated at 1.5kW, this is one of the quietest blowers available, to ensure all you hear is the bubbling of the water and not the plant equipment. Air blower 9

11 nordic hot tub jets ADJUSTABLE / FIXED EURO JETS These hydro jets create a variable water flow for a gentle or powerful massage function. These automatically function when the hydro pump is activated giving the effect of litres per minute. They are usually fitted in groups for maximum performance. LUXURY SPA JET A fully directional jet The water flow can be easily decreased by up to 95% if you wish to adjust the massage function, by simply rotating the jet face clockwise or anti-clockwise. SWIRL BLASTER JET A powerful single 2cm ( 3 4") rotating nozzle which can be adjusted to a maximum 26º to reach the upper body and shoulder muscles. The flow of water can also be decreased by up to 95% by rotating the jet face. JUMBO JET A magnificent 200mm (8") diameter back jet that provides a really powerful massage function. The fully adjustable nozzle path can control the flow of water from 9 80 litres per minute. ROTO-MASSAGE JET A powerful multi-nozzle jet which rotates to provide a vigorous massage effect on the back muscles. 11

12 nordic hot tub jets WHIRLPOOL JET A supreme jet which diverts all the water partially or entirely from the pump and through the nozzle, to give a powerful whirlpool action. It is easily operated by rotating the face to turn on or off. PERSONAL NECK JET A completely flexible jet positioned one each side of the neck to release tension in the upper shoulder muscles. Positioned just above the water level for maximum effect and operated by a simple push/pull action. PLUS 31 AIR INJECTOR / PLUS 9 AIR INJECTOR These recessed mounted air injector jets provide a relaxing champagnebubbling sensation. They are automatically activated when the air blower is operated. HAND-HELD JET This dual nozzle jet allows bathers the freedom to direct the flow of water as they choose. Simply clipping to a suitable jet, the water is directed through the flexible hose (supplied with certain models). A full specification of the individual jet configurations is given with each model. However, the manufacturer reserves the right to change the type and quantity of jets supplied without notice, in the aid of product development / improvement. 12

A 10-function programmable control provides 30 different pulsating wave massage patterns to the body. WAVE-MAX SEAT (full back massage) The Wave-Max seat has 20 jets that step five gentle streams of water, one row at a time for a spine-tingling effect. The flow of water can be locked at a level of 1-3 rows to continuously massage one area of your back at a time. WATERFALL JET A new addition to the comprehensive series of jets. Reminiscent of the sound of naturally flowing water, the Waterfall Jet is designed to stimulate the senses and encourage the bather to fully relax in gently swirling water. HYDRO-MAX SEAT (neck, shoulder, back and calf massage) The Hydro-Max seat provides a selection of vigorous and gentle jets for a targeted massage function to upper and lower body. AROMATHERAPY An easily accessed canister built into the spa shell is specially designed to hold the Aromatherapy beads. The lid simply twists off to allow bathers to fill the system with the special beads whenever they wish. The aromatherapy essences are drawn into the spa system to allow the fragrance to burst through the spa jets SPA PILLOWS All spas with Hydro-Massage seats are fitted with cushioned spa neck rests for the bather to fully relax. Alternatively, these innovative weighted pillows can be freely used with any hot tub. REDWOOD STEPS Sturdy redwood steps are available for easy access when stepping in or out of the hot tub. Easily portable, the steps can be positioned beside the hot tub or stored during the seasons when the spa is not being used. UNDERWATER LIGHT All tubs (excluding Compact) are supplied with a gentle underwater light to enhance the relaxation process. However, you can enhance the atmosphere and allow the water to radiate with the optional atmospheric fibre-optic lighting. The colours gently merge through shades of a warming red glow, golden yellow, Mediterranean blue and a refreshing green. The soothing colour variation stimulates the senses to intensify the therapeutic action of colour saturation. VIBRA-SOUND CD / RADIO SYSTEM The hot tub experience can be completely enriched with the addition of the Vibra-Sound CD/Radio system. Consisting of a 200W unit with a total of eight speakers. Four Vibra-Sound speakers and two Sub-Woofers are built into the shell which transmits the sound through the water to create the amazing effect of actually feeling the music.
