4 Swimming Dragon "The rising of the body is said to be like a flying dragon ascending to the clouds,, and the lowerings are said to be like a coiling dragon entering the sea." from 'The Swimming Dragon' - Tzu Kuo Shih (1929- ) Swimming Dragon is an ancient Taoist Qìgōng 氣功 exercise that imitates the sinuous serpent-like movements of a slender dragon swimming in the sea. The image of a dragon is often used to represent the internal action of Qi 氣. This Qìgōng 氣功 cleanses and removes blockages from the endocrine system to stimulate the metabolism. It enhances and drains the lymphatic system to help boost the immune system. Meanwhile fats and toxins will be mobilized into the lymphatic drainage network to be expelled. It can improve general well-being and tonify the metabolic system, help to control appetite, slenderize the waist, hips, thighs and buttocks. It is also reputed to be the most effective Qìgōng 氣功 practice for balancing body weight. The movement massages the internal genital organs, stimulating the Essence - Jīng 精. This can help with rejuvenation and balancing sexual energy. It can also improve the condition of many chronic problems around the lower stomach, genital organs and improve the fertility and sexual performance. Swimming Dragon is an excellent way of promoting healthy function of the triple warmer and the Dan Tián's - Dantián 丹田. Swimming Dragon moves joints and muscles that may not have been moved for a long time and some 'popping' and 'cracking' may be heard during the exercise. The Swimming Dragon Qìgōng 氣功 consists of three parts: Soaring Dragon Feeds on Qi 氣. Swimming Dragon. Sitting Dragon. For the best results Swimming Dragon is performed for 20 minutes, or 20 repetitions.
5 Characteristics of the Swimming Dragon A vital component of Swimming Dragon Qìgōng 氣功 is to: Imitate the serpent like movement of a swimming dragon. Smile down into the organs. Successful Practice For successful practice: Imitate the serpent like movement of a swimming dragon. Synchronize the movements with the breath. Sink your weight down, keeping your weight even. Pull the 100 Convergences - Bǎi Huì 百會 (DU20) up to lengthen the spine. Maintain a relaxed Lower Dan Tián - Xià Dantián 下丹田 (LDT). Keep the thighs gently squeezed together. Keep the palms gently together to integrate yin and yang and to ensure no Qi 氣 escapes. Move as naturally as possible. Keep the breath and body movement relaxed, steady and even. Scan your body, and relax tense points. Think of youthfullness & the blossoming of the prime of life. One movement should take one minute. Practice 20 minutes daily for the maximum benefits. Contraindications Swimming Dragon should not be practiced if any of the following apply: Balance and physical ability should be given due consideration. Practice should be at least one hour after a meal.

Creates beautiful skin & helps eliminate wrinkles due to aging. Reduces tension by relaxing the body & calming the mind. Massages deep muscles all the way to the bone. Naturally improves posture.
