O Leary was honored as the Big Ten Player of the Year and named a second-team All-American. OSU fi nished second in the Big Ten in 1990, making another NCAA appearance. An all-region selection, she was named to the All-America third team and became Ohio State s all-time career kill leader with 1,802. O Leary played in 122 of 131 matches in her four-year career. Her teams were (.634) in her career and (.769) her fi nal two years. Additional playing experience came from her participation in the United State Olympic Festival in 1989 and her selection to the USA B Team during the summer of During her high school career she was an 1987 all-state selection and named the AA Player of the Year. She was the Cincinnati Hills League Player of the Year from O Leary is a member of the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame. She was the team leader in kills (422) and attack percentage (.257). O Leary was selected to the North team of the United States Olympic Festival. Named the Big Ten Player of the Year as a junior, O Leary also was selected as an all-region selection and named All-American in leading Ohio State to the Big Ten championship and its fi rst-ever NCAA appearance. She set season records for Ohio State in kills (640) and kills per game (5.08). The Big Ten Conference leader in kills per game (4.91) she ranked 18th in hitting effi ciency (.243). Nationally, she ranked seventh in kills per game. During the summer of 1990, O Leary played with the USA B squad. As a senior, O Leary was a first team All-Big Ten selection and an all-region pick. Her play guided the Buckeyes to its first-ever Big Ten Championship in 1989 and back-to-back NCAA appearances. A two-time All-Big Ten and all-region selection, DiPronio was honored as an All-American in her senior season of She came to Ohio State after spending 1987 training with the Canadian Junior National Team. The Most Valuable Player of her high school team for three years, DiPronio s squad won the City Finals in She also played field hockey, badminton, basketball and ran track and fi eld and was a participant in the Ontario Provincial Canada Games. As a sophomore, DiPronio set Ohio State assist records for a game (80) and season (1,326) while setting new standards for assists per game for a season (11.84). She ranked third in assists and eighth in aces per game in Big Ten play. An All-Big Ten selection as a junior in leading Ohio State to the Big Ten Championship, she also received all-region honors. She set Buckeye season records for assists (1,514) and assists per game (12.51) while finishing seventh nationally in assists per game. Received All-Big Ten, all-region and All-American honors in her senior year as she directed the Buckeyes to a second-place finish in the Conference and to another appearance in the NCAA Championship. Her kill in game three gave OSU a win and her 24th kill of the match proved to be the match-winner for the Buckeyes in a 3-1 upset of the Cornhuskers. Her senior play earned her All-Big Ten, all-region and all-america honors while establishing Ohio State season records in digs (483) and digs per game (4.24). Chellevold finished the season ranked 19th nationally in digs per game. As a junior, she set the current Ohio State match record for digs with a outstanding performance against Indiana when she recorded 41 digs. A second place fi nished in the Big Ten sent the Buckeyes again to the NCAA Championship. She played in 33 of 34 matches as a sophomore as the Buckeyes won the Big Ten Championship and played in its fi rst NCAA championship. A preseason ankle sprain slowed her freshman season in which she played in 30 matches, starting eight. Named the California Class 2A Player of the Year in high school, she was a two-time allleague selection in volleyball. Chellevold help her team win two CIF championships in volleyball. She also played soccer and softball. She is a sales representative for First Impressions. They have a baby girl, Emma. One of the most competitive student-athletes to step on the floor for the scarlet and gray, Wissler was honored as an All-American her senior season. In her career she swept the major awards in the Big Ten including Freshman (1988) and Player of the Year (1991) and was a three-time All-Big Ten pick. She also was selected as the Ohio State Female Athlete of the Year in her senior season. Her play was one reason Ohio State reached the NCAA National Championship Semifinals in her final year. She ended her career as the OSU career leader in hitting percentage (.287) and in digs (1,341). Her dig records still stands today. Wissler still holds Top10 career positions for Ohio State in 12 of 16 categories. An All-Big Ten and all-region selection as a junior, she participated in the United States Olympic Festival that summer. Again Wissler received All-Big Ten and allregion honors as a sophomore as she helped the Buckeyes win the Big Ten Championship and participate in Ohio State s fi rst-ever NCAA Championship. A broken hand in preseason practice caused her to miss the first nine matches of her freshman season. She was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year for her play the rest of the season. Honored by her home state as the Alaska Sportsperson of the Year, she also played for the South team in the United States Olympic Festival the following summer. A high school All-American, Wissler was listed among the Top 50 high school seniors in the country. A two-time all-state selection, she was named the Athlete of the Year. She also was a member of her school s swim team and was listed in Who s Who among High School Students. A gifted player who capped her Buckeye career with All-America honors twice, she was named the National Player of the Year in her senior season. Honors continued for Davis after her playing career ended as she was honored as the Ohio State Women s Athlete of the Year and later the Big Ten-Suzy Favor Women s Athlete of the Year. Davis also earned the Honda Sports Award winner for volleyball. Following her graduation, Davis played overseas for a time before returning to join the USA National Team training program. In her four years at Ohio State, Davis played in 125 of 126 matches. Her squads were (.825) overall and (.875) in Big Ten play. She was Ohio State s career leader in assists (5,483) and assists per game (12.87). She remains ranked in the Top 20 for Ohio State in aces, aces per game, digs and digs per game. As a senior, Davis was the NCAA Assists Per Game National Champion with a per game average. She had an extended summer practice camp with the U.S. National Team and played for the Gold Medal East team at the U.S. Olympic Festival. In her junior year, she set the Ohio State match record for assists with 81 against Purdue and broke that mark a week later with 83 against Penn State. As the Big Ten Conference assist champion, she average per game. During her sophomore season, Davis was named an alternate to the 1993 World University Games squad and then trained and traveled with the U.S. B team in Germany. In her freshman season, Davis was the Big Ten Conference leader in assist per game with a average. She directed the offense to a five-game win over Penn State in the NCAA Regional Semifinals and to a 3-1 upset victory over host Nebraska to secure a berth in the National Semifinals. An all-state selection in high school, Davis was twice a unanimous all-conference selection and was selected to her school s Wall of Fame. She married Erik Johnson, an assistant women s basketball coach at Boston College. They have three children Daly, Avery and Davis. Jobst helped Ohio State establish its volleyball program as one of the top programs in the nation. In her four years with the Buckeyes, Jobst played a major part in the four-year (.825) overall record and its (.875) Big Ten mark. OSU won two Big Ten titles, participated in four NCAA Championships, advancing to the NCAA National Champion Semifinals in 1991 and Her senior season saw the Buckeyes finish the season as the fourth ranked team in the country. Jobst ranks in the Top 10 in 11 of 16 Ohio State career categories. She ranks fifth in career kills (1,434), fourth in aces (157) and seventh in assist blocks (260). During 1996, she played in the Switzerland Professional League against former teammate Laura Davis. The following year Jobst played with the Canadian National Team. A co-captain her senior year, Jobst was a second team GTE Academic All-American. For her play, she was named a first team AVCA All- American and named to the Volleyball Monthly second team. As a junior, Jobst received numerous academic and playing honors. Individually she tied the Ohio State match record for kills with 35 in the Buckeye win over Penn State. She was named the Big Ten Player of the Week in her sophomore year for her play in home matches against Michigan and Michigan State. Jobst was one of three freshmen to be ranked in the top 20 in Big Ten hitting efficiency, finishing 10th at.293. In high school, Jobst was selected to the City All-Stars and was named the most valuable player her senior year. She played four years for the Provincial teams (one year in Alberta and three years in Ontario), twice being named a Provincial All-Star. She was considered the No. 1 high school player in Ontario for her final two years and was named a 1991 Junior Olympics All-American. Her squad fi nished ranked No. 4 in the country that season. A three-time All- Big Ten selection, Jackson participated in three United States Olympic Festivals. She started 102 of 122 matches and won 96 matches (.787) overall and was (.825) in Big Ten play. Jackson ranks third in career kills (1,463) for the Buckeyes. She is second in attack percentage at.344 for her OSU career. She is seventh in career aces (137), seventh in solo blocks (67), fi fth in assist blocks (322) and total blocks (389). A team co-captain as a senior, Jackson was an AVCA All-District selection as well as All-Big Ten. She scored double-fi gure kills in 29 of 30 matches. An All-Big Ten and AVCA All-District selection in her junior season, Jackson was an honorable mention Volleyball Magazine All-American. Finished the regular season ranked third in the country in hitting effi ciency at.408. That mark established an Ohio State season record. She led the Big Ten in hitting effi ciency at.417. Named the Big Ten Player of the Week three times, she had double-figure kills in 23 matches. Named honorable mention All-Big Ten as a sophomore, Jackson fi nished fourth in the Big Ten in hitting efficiency (.351). A sprained ankle before the NCAA match with Long Beach State limited her play in the match. Honored as the Big Ten Freshman of the Year as she was ranked fi rst in the Big Ten in aces per game at.55. Jackson was the top ranked freshman in three of four league statistics, except blocking, were she was the second ranked freshman. Set a school record in hitting effi ciency at Cincinnati to start the season with a.900 mark (9-0-10). Tricia Stragliotto came to Ohio State after spending 1992 with the Canadian National Team and 1991 at Western Michigan University. A three-time All-Big Ten selection, she was a main offensive threat in Ohio State s run for the 1994 Big Ten Championship and its advancement to the NCAA National Semifinals. She is one of 15 Ohio State players to record 1,000 or more kills (1,211) in her career and she accomplished that feat in only three years. She rankes 12th in career hitting efficiency (.264) and is fourth in career digs per game (2.99). An All-Big Ten selection as a senior, Stragliotto was an AVCA All-District selection. She was named a second-team AVCA All-American and an honorable mention Volleyball Magazine selection. She had double-fi gure kills in 26 matches and double-fi gure digs in 20. She had a career-high 30 digs at Illinois. An honorable mention All-Big Ten selection as a junior, she recorded a career-high hitting efficiency of.733 ( ) at home against Michigan. That mark equalled the sixth best match performance in Ohio State history. Stragliotto recorded doublefigure kills in 21 matches and had double-figure digs in 17. She played setter in OSU s match at Michigan in place of Laura Davis, recording a career-high 37 assists in the 3-1 win. In her first season with the Buckeyes, Stragliotto became eligible for the second match of the season and started the remaining 29 matches. She was an honorable mention All-Big Ten selection. Prior to coming to Ohio State, Stragliotto played with the Canadian National A Team, playing with former Buckeye Audrey DiPronio. She also played for the 1989 Canada Games Team and for the National B Team in She attended and played one year at Western Michigan University. Named her high school s Athlete of the Year as a senior, she also was named the Mississauga Athlete of the Year. Five-time district champion in high school, she was her team s most valuable player four times. A Provincial All-State for four years, she played with former Buckeye Gabriele Jobst on both her Provincial and club teams. Wouters was selected as the Ohio State Female Athlete of the Year. A fi rst team All-American in her junior season, Wouters was the Big Ten Player of the Year. She was twice selected as the AVCA National Player of the Week and was the Big Ten Player of the Week four times. The Big Ten record for kills fell with her 45-kill performance at Iowa. Wouters finished the season as the NCAA Statistics Champion in kills per game with a 6.43 per game average and was the Big Ten champion in kills per game with a 7.41 average. Her 765 kills for the season set Ohio State and Big Ten records. Double-fi gure kills in all 33-matches with eight matches of 31 or more kills. Prior to coming to Ohio State, Wouters played two years at Southwest Missouri State where she was named Newcomer of the Year as a freshman and was an All-Missouri Valley Conference selection. She began her career with the Buckeyes by being named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in A member of the Big Ten All-Freshman Team, Virtue was also named to the Asics/Volleyball Magazine Freshman All-American Team. She averaged assists per game as OSU was on the year. As a sophomore, Virtue was an American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Mideast Region selection and was named to the All-Big Ten team. Virtue averaged assists per game in leading the Buckeyes to a 26-7 record, finishing fourth in the Big Ten. Named an Asics/Volleyball Magazine Honorable Mention All-American as a junior, Virtue was an All-Big Ten selection. She was a Verizon Academic All-District Second Team selection and was a member of the SPHINX Honorary. Virtue was the NCAA National Statistical Champion with a per game average and the Big Ten Statistical Champion with a average. Ohio State was 27-4 overall on the year, finishing second in the Big Ten with a 17-3 record. The Buckeyes advanced in the NCAA Championship to the regional semifinals. Virtue was an honorable mention All-Big Ten selection as a senior and was named the female recipient of the Big Ten Outstanding Sportsmanship Award. Averaging assist per game in the Big Ten Conference, she was the league statistical champion. Virtue became Ohio State s all-time career assist leader in the fi nal regular season match against Purdue with 5,546. Virtue closed out her career as the Ohio State career assist leader with 5,648 and her assists per game was the best mark in the history of Ohio State women s volleyball. Despite a career that saw her injured several times, Virtue is one of the great Buckeye setters. While at St. Francis High School, Virtue was a member of the 1998 United States Junior National team that won the gold medal at the NORCECA Championships in Mexico. 7 Ohio State women s volleyball only four-time All-American, Stacey Gordon was honored as the 2004 American Volleyball Coaches Association Co- National Player of the Year and the Asics/Volleyball Player of the Year. Gordon was twice named the Ohio State Female Athlete of the Year (2002 and 2005). A four-time All-Big Ten selection, Gordon was the Big Ten Player of the Year in 2002 and She ended her playing days as the Ohio State career leader in kills with 2,798, kills per game at 6.12, digs with 1,572, digs per game at 3.44, points with 3,094.5 and points per game at She ranks third all-time in NCAA kills with 2,798 and third in kills per game at Gordon recorded double-fi gure kills in her last 110 matches and 123 of 125 in her career. She posted 67 double-fi gure dig matches and was named the Big Ten Player of the week a record 16 times.
