Introduction The bikefitting.com cycle measurement is characterized by the precise measurement of exact anatomic marks. In this manual you will find a practical description of this method. The drawings explain the various names of the measurement tools. When measuring, the cyclist needs to wear his/ her cyclist outfit, but be barefooted. Total length measuring device Torso length measuring device Inseam-bar Shoulder width device Platform Heel stop Toe stop
Height When measuring the height, the cyclist has to be stand straight. Height ATTENTION: The height should be read off at the top right corner of the pointer. Height reading point Bare feet on the platform
MANUAL JIG Foot length As far as the foot length is concerned both the left foot and the right foot are to be measured. The foot must be placed with the heels against the heel-stop. The toes should be stretched out. No claw toes! Both feet are placed on the platform and the innerside of the feet are lined up with the foot prints. 300Reading point foot length Feet line up with the prints Heel contacts heel-stop
Inseam The inside leg length should be measured as follows: The cyclist stands with both feet on the platform and he/she pulls the grey T-bar slowly into the crotch. The situation is now as follows: Both legs are flat on the platform and the inseam-bar leans on the crotch very firmly, almost to the bone. Read the inside leg length at the top right corner of the pointer. Reading point inside leg length Feet on platform
Torso length MANUAL JIG The torso length is measured on top of the sternum. This has to be measured with the torso length measuring device. The pointer should be on top of the sternum and must be fixed when the cyclist is standing straight (relaxed) with shoulders loose and breathing out. Reading point torso length Top of the sternum The cyclist stands up straigt with shoulders loose
Arm length The arm length (the distance from the palm of the hand to the top of the shoulder bone) is measured on the left side as well as on the right side. The arm is stretched out as much as possible. The hand has to be in one line with the arm. The marking point on the shoulder bone top can be found by pressing gently in that area. The second way of finding this mark is by holding up the arm and a fold of the skin will appear at the shoulder top. Center the pointer of the torso measuring device in the middle of the shoulder top mark, and read the size at the top right corner of the pointer. Let the customer take hold of the aluminum bar of the inseam measuring bar, stretch the arm and read the size at the top right corner of the pointer. The arm is streched out Shoulder bone top Reading point arm top Reading point arm bottom
Shoulder width The shoulder width is measured with the sliding gauge from the left to the right shoulder top. The cyclist has to cross his/her arms. As a result of this the shoulders are slightly folded. The upper edge of the sliding gauge should be parallel to the outside of the shoulder bone top and is pressed firmly against the shoulder tops. The shoulder width is read on the measuring wall at the inside of the adjustable part of the sliding gauge. Enter the data in millimetres into the computer Top of the sliding gauge is in one line with the outside shoulder bone Read the shoulder width inside of the adjustable part of the sliding gauge Shoulder width
