2 Riptide Women's Competitive League Executive: Established in 1999, by Susan Simmons with the help of Janet McPherson and Debra Cocks, SLVA was founded in Keswick indoor volleyball courts of Northern Ontario. The team players unique style of never say die volleyball came up with the name SLVA and hence the league was developed. In the 2015 season we started amalgamating the SLVA league under the Georgina Riptide Volleyball Club Association umbrella. We are proud to announce that the 2016 marked the first official transition from SLVA to the Georgina Riptide Competitive Ladies League. 3 Riptide Women's Competitive League Rules and Regulations Games are expected to start promptly at 7:30pm 2. Each set will consist of 2 games which are played to 25 points; you must win by 2 points (time permitting), or the first team to 27 points. 3. Each set consists of 2 games; 1 point will be given for each game won. 4. Each team can have 2 time outs during a game. 5. A substitution can be made for a player at any time during a game. However, if you wish to put that player back into the game, you can only substitute them into their original position. 6. If a team is short players they can call a player from the spare list, or borrow a player from another team (other than the one they are playing) and only if the player wishes to go. Borrowed players must stay for the entire game. Spares or borrowed players must be of equal or lower rating for the replaced player. To AVOID default of a game you must have 4 or 5 players (minimum of 4 original team members with teams of 7; minimum of 5 original team members with teams of 8) on the court when ref calls game start <this includes your maximum of 2 spares and/or borrowed players of equal or lower rating> 7. In the event that multiple teams are short, the team who called the spare, keeps the spare provided that the spare gives them a 6th player. In the event that the spare is a 7th player, the team who called the spare must send a player to the team who has the fewest original players provided the player is of equal or lower rating for the replaced players. 8. Any team who calls out a spare must pay at $5.00 flat fee. Pease write the name of the spare, date and put the money in the envelope on court two which will be collected by the treasure (Minnie). 9. When a spare has been confirmed captains should post in the chat letting other captains know which spare they have picked up. Alternatively, send an to all captains. The message needs to include the name of the spare as well as the name of the team member they are sparing for. 10. During the playoffs, if a team is short players and needs to borrow or use a player from the spare list, they can do so, but any new player picked up must have played 10 individual games to be eligible to play in the playoffs. (To be reviewed before play-offs). All rules listed in Rule #5 are applicable. 11. During the playoffs, chosen ball will remain the same for all teams to be consistent. A vote will take place. 12. If a player becomes pregnant they must inform their captain/executive by their 3 rd month. The player may continue to play until they have reached 20 weeks. 13. For any player needing to be replaced, a refund will be given provided that a permanent replacement player can be found. Once a permanent player has been assigned, the refund will reflect the start date of the new permanent replacement. 14. After 4 weeks if a player is still injured, they will be assigned to the spare list. Team captains and executive members will execute their rights to have a team pick up a replacement player. Once a permanent player has been assigned, the refund will reflect the start date of the new permanent replacement.

4 15. Each team should supply a linesman and scorekeeper for each game, unless you have 6 players or less. 16. If the school buses are cancelled, volleyball is cancelled. Any cancelled games will be played at the end of the season, provided there is time. An will be sent out and captains must call their players. 17. Players are to be 19 years of age or older to play. 18. The red team on the schedule is assigned set up of the court. This team needs to arrive by 7:00pm to ensure the net is up by 7:25. No warming up until the net is up. 19. It is both teams responsibility to take down the net. 20. Both teams are responsible for putting away the equipment in the lockers and assigned storage space on Court 3. Please remember to remove the score sheet and leave it on court 2 before locking the items in lockers (or give it to Kristen). 21. We cannot be responsible for personal items. Please leave your valuables at home. 22. Registration must be paid in full by start of season. Fees are collected prior to season start. Fees are due Tuesday October 2 nd, Players must not wear jewelry and where necessary must be taped to the body so as to disallow any movement or any injury to them or anyone else. Delay warning will be issued by the Referee if jewelry is noticed. Second offence on that team then Referee issues Delay Penalty (yellow card) and a point is awarded to the opposing team. 24. Any player, who has not been in attendance for 3 consecutive play dates and not contacted her team captain, will have her eligibility for play be reviewed by the executive and a dismissal may result without possibility of refund. 25. Any player who needs to withdraw must inform her captain as soon as possible (so they may seek a replacement for your position). Refund may be possible if you are replaced with a full time player refund is typically equal to the registration fee paid by the new player. 26. Upon notification of a player who withdraws from a team, the captain must identify the situation to the executive for review and replacement immediately. The replacement player must be of the same rating or less (at the discretion of the executive), and must be on the spare list. Team captains will be involved in the decision. 27. Use of feet to play the ball is legal If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact any member of the executive.

Act as the liaison between league and the Recreation Department Hold Captains meetings as required Organize the registration process Organize the acceptance of new teams/players to the league or waiting lists Organize the division of the teams within the league Finding/assigning referees Distribute a team list with both work and home phone numbers to team captains (2 per team) Assist the Treasurer in preparation of estimated/actual budgets Assist Team Captains with any questions or complaints Ensure copies of rules and season schedule placed in each scorebook by season start Encourage Teams to carry 8 players per team Review rules each year with Team Captains Conflict resolution/solutions process to be developed Treasure: Work closely with the President in preparing estimated/actual budgets Monitor all information related to costs for the league Submit monthly reports to the President, bank reconciliation Collection of registration fees and deposits as required Determine prorated fees for new players and ensure fees are collected Co-ordinate submission of Sponsor fees/issue receipts as required/team Shirts Prepare season and playoff schedules To assist with other duties as assigned Secretary: Ensure accurate minutes are taken and distributed to the Executive in a timely manner Ensure accurate weekly game standings are posted before game time every week To update Manual and Team Lists as required all new information should be given to the Secretary To assist with other duties as assigned Assistants: To update spare lists To update team lists as required To assist with banquet To assist with other duties as assigned Team Captains: Commit to your team by organizing spares, rotations, playoff dynamics, throughout entire season regardless of injury, pregnancy, or other implication. Attend, participate in and provide feedback at all league events including registration/tryouts, Draft night, Captains meetings To ensure your team helps set up and take down net as designated regarding the schedule Collect spare fee ($5 dollar) and submit to Minnie in envelope with name and date of spare To co-ordinate spares as required and ensure spare fee is paid and SPARE To post in the chat to let other captains know once spares have been confirmed

All complaints on the court must be directed by a Team Captain to the Referee. Assist in obtaining sponsor(s) for your team To monitor the attendance of their team players and submit updated rating sheets at end of season Referees: Follow the most current OVA rules The referee is responsible for bringing his/her own whistle The referee is responsible for the game ball during playtime. The ball must be returned to the referee once a game has ended.
