1 CHEETAH SAFARIS NEWS LETTER 2013 First of all the CHEETAH SAFARI team would like to thank God for the special talent and blessings the BIG Lord gave to us in To our clients, agents, guests and friends, all who are considered as part of the CHEETAH SAFARI family, thank you for being an integral part of the Sport of Kings. Men and women prepared to spend their money on the most effective form of conservation - Sport Hunting - ensures that the generations to come can have the same privilege and experience. CHEETAH SAFARIS SALUTE you Thank you! The CHEETAH SAFARI team is proud to share with you our action filled 2013 newsletter. After the closing down of hunting in Zambia last year CHEETAH SAFARIS still had an amazing blessed season thanks to all our trusted clients and friends. For us, it was like always, a great honor to have hunted and shared some special moments with special people. Thanks again to all our dearest clients; old and new. Regardt had to do the marketing by himself this year due to unforeseen medical issues with Pieter. He was back in the US with the annual marketing season in January attending the Dallas Safari Club and Houston Safari Club shows. CHEETAH SAFARIS would like to thank these organizations for the shows. a Special thanks to Regardt for the marketing as well as Robert Hibbert and Steve Crawford for all their generous help during our marketing season. We would also like to thank everyone that took the time to stop by our booth to talk to Regardt about our passion. We hope to see you all soon in Africa. The pre-season marketing is going well with only a few spots left open for Sadly Regardt had decided to move on after 8 years with Sable Safaris, we wish him all the best. His hard work, loyalty and great humor will be missed. There is still no news on when Zambia will reopen hunting concessions on State land. Private fenced game ranches as well as Bangwelu Swamps have reopened in the meantime. We will keep you posted on any further developments in this regard.

2 The CHEETAH SAFARI season started early this year. We were back in the saddle mid March. CHEETAH SAFARIS had the honor to witness young inexperienced boys and girls growing into complete hunters with the passion only real hunters have. Well done to these future hunters. Always remember hunting is by far still the most effective form of conservation. Garrett and Stacey Gleim from Gainesville Florida, on their 4 th safari with us, were the first clients for this year. They hunted with us for the past 3 years in succession, collecting species between Zambia and SA. Still needing the Rhino, Garrett s aim on this trip was to complete the Dangerous Seven as well as shooting a bigger buffalo. Late rains made the hunt difficult. Garrett got his Rhino on the 3 rd day of his safari. The team did several DNA tests and inoculation on the rhino while it was down. Garrett and Stacey with his Rhino bull

We had the privilege to hunt lion with Todd a few years back in Zambia, this time he brought his lovely daughter Rachel on her first African Safari. We hunted our private area with cameraman Robert who caught every moment in HD. Rachel arrived with a pink crossbow, let me tell you; this girl can shoot..! Guess it is moms DNA right Todd?! J We had a blast and enjoyed every moment with the Branson s. Todd sat back and watched in awe how his little girl filled up her bucket list.

The swamp people did extremely well. Chuck bow hunted with Pieter and harvested Zebra, Gemsbuck, Kudu, Buffalo, Bushpig and Eland.

7 In June our next first timers to Africa were farther Chuck Anslemo, wife Catherine and son Nick. Joining them was Josh Duplantis and his dad Troy Collins all from Lafayette, TX. Cameraman Robert captured every moment in HD. The swamp people did extremely well. Chuck bow hunted with Pieter and harvested Zebra, Gemsbuck, Kudu, Buffalo, Bushpig and Eland. On the 5 th day just before dark they stalked up to 5 buffalo bulls and Chuck had his first member of the Big 5 in the salt. Well-done Chuck! The CHEETAH SAFARI team is proud to be part of your fist step towards the Big 5. Chuck with his awesome Kudu Big old Buffalo gave us the run around

8 Son Nick hunted with PH Jacques Loots. Like father like son, Nick also bow hunted and shot Kudu, BWB and Baboon. The young man was pumped up and could hardly contain himself seeing all the animals around the blinds every day. Fist day hard shot Kudu for Nick Old BWB

Pro-Iceman Josh hunted with PH Hendrik and caught up fast. Josh harvested Blue Wildebeest, Impala, two Zebra, RHB, Waterbuck, Steenbuck, Eland, Kudu and Warthog.

Pieter convinced Catherine to hunt and off she went with future PH s Christo Bothma and Alex Robberts. She harvested a Blue Wildebeest with cross bow.

10 Pro-Iceman Josh hunted with PH Hendrik and caught up fast. Josh harvested Blue Wildebeest, Impala, two Zebra, RHB, Waterbuck, Steenbuck, Eland, Kudu and Warthog. Josh with his old impressive Waterbuck Old heavy horn Kudu with Tac15 When Catherine finally got over her jetlag, she joined her husband in the blinds. Pieter convinced Catherine to hunt and off she went with future PH s Christo Bothma and Alex Robberts. She harvested a Blue Wildebeest with cross bow. Catherine also enjoyed a few side trips and activities. Thank you Catherine for being the team leader and setting up the group. Thank you guy s for memorable moments in the bush and around the beer pong table. CHEETAH SAFARIS had a blast and we can t wait to have the swamp people back. See you guy s in January.

11 Old friends Rick and son Nick Mitchell was next on their 2 nd trip with Cheetah Safaris. Joining them after a photographic safari at Madikwe National Park was the rest of the family mom, Cyndee and son Brand from Houston, TX. Ricks priority was to hunt a big old buffalo. Rick and Pieter stalked up to 3 old bulls and watched them fed for an hour. Rick made an excellent shot with a 416 WM on his buffalo and set the standard high for the boys, well done Rick! Rick with his old impressive Buffalo Since Nick hunted with us four years ago he was still in the killing mood and this time collected Roan and Tsessebe (with crossbow). In our North West area he shot Springbuck, White Blesbuck and Black Wildebeest. Nick shot extremely well with both weapons showing his true marksman skills. Great job Nick.

12 Nick with impressive 27 Roan Tsessebe with Tac 15 Brother Brand also showed that he had the skills and harvested a very impressive wide horn kudu bull with the crossbow.

CHEETAH SAFARIS moved camp to the Kalahari for the next hunt with Mr. Vianellie from Italy. We had lots of laughter with him hearing all his hunting tales from around the globe. Since he hunted Africa 14 times, his only goal was to bag a big male lion, which has eluded him. After tracking down several trophy lions, Pieter decided to let him take an old male on day three. Mr. Vianellie - funny man - did just that and bagged himself a handsome full mane King of the African bush. Well done Sir, can t wait for your next trip in 2014.

14 Old full mane Kalahari Lion 5 Star accommodations in the Kalahari Lion hunting area. Next up was the perfect example of a happy family, first timers to the dark continent farther Joe, mom Sharon, kids Sydney and her brother Jack Von Rosenberg from Burney, TX. Robert did a splendid job recording the familyhunt on video. Pieter hunted with Joe and Hendrik with Sharon while the kids swopped between mom and dad. Let me tell you, this family was all natural born killers. Joe bagged Impala, Warthog, Zebra, Nyala, Gemsbuck and RHB.

17 Sydney was not holding back, she did extremely well and harvested Kudu, Steenbuck, Blesbuck and Impala. Sydney shot Kudu with Tac15 After their hunt the family spent 3 more weeks in South Africa and travelled to Cape Town and Kruger National Park on sightseeing trips. CHEETAH SAFARIS had a blast with the Von Rosenberg s and we can t wait to have them back in Africa before Jack and Sydney go their own way. See you guy s in January. In August, John Henderson and his lovely wife Mary from Houston, TX hunted with Pieter in Thabazimbi area for Leopard, Sable and Buffalo. John was originally booked into Zambia but after the unexpected closing of hunting John had to rescheduled his trip and joined us at CHEETAH SAFARIS for the hunting trip of his life time... The hunt was on and soon they had several baits out after John collected some animals. They had several average males and many females feeding during the first week. Pieter decided to wait for the perfect Tom.

(During Pieter s 24 years of Buffalo hunting he has never seen any buffalo being that smart) I have heard SA fenced hunts are easy according to critics.. Go figure! Hunting in another concession, the last day, John finally shot his buffalo on a dead walk with a great shot through the hart at 120 yards. The big boss buffalo John work so hard for Mary and Carina were just as busy with day trips to Predator Parks, Curio Shopping, Elephant Back safaris and went to a Spa. Well done Sir John, next year we are going after Lion and Elephant. Can t wait.

Soon we found out that the Lott s were here to hunt Pieter and Jeff with his big old Buffalo Sable - what a way to end another great hunting day!

22 Jeff and Pieter bagged Waterbuck, Sable, Buffalo, Roan, Eland, Steenbuck, Warthog, two RHB, BWB, heard of Impala s, Zebra, Nyala, Kudu, Bushbuck, Gemsbuck, White & Common Blesbuck, BlackWB and Springbuck. Jeff with 27 Roan History was made at CHEETAH SAFARIS, as the father and son duo were the first to both bag the spiral-horns-slam of Southern Africa during the same hunt. 23 Funny man Jett was not playing around either, he bagged Waterbuck, Nyala, Kudu, Eland, Bushbuck, Gemsbuck, Impala, Blesbuck, Zebra and 17 Vervet monkeys. See you guy s in January for a good old Texas chopper hog hunt looking forward. A special thanks to our friends Brent and Jenny Smith who have put the Lott s into touch with us. In October, CHEETAH SAFARIS had the pleasure to hunt with old friends Brent and Jenny Smith from Snyder, TX. Mr. and Mrs. Smith were on their 4 th hunt with us and on his 3 rd elephant bow hunt. Brent s main objective was to clean kill an Elephant with bow and arrow. (Remember we had a close call with a charge in 2011 in Zambia and last years razor / arrow malfunction in Zimbabwe) Pieter, Carina, Brent and JenJen chose to hunt in the Matetsi area of Zimbabwe. Being that late in the season temperatures was well into the 100 s degrees Fahrenheit, brutal to both the hunters and animals. After 9 day s of hard hunting and 100 s of gallons water, Brent finally got his chance for a rematch with Mr. Jumbo.

A happy Brent with the long awaited last member of his BIG 5 quest Early on day 7 of the hunt the team spotted 2 sets of large bull tracks and the hunt was on.

Waiting more than 45min for the perfect shot, Brent made a great shot and bagged himself a grand old Elephant with over 50lb tusks. It took one well-placed arrow for the bull to expire.

They went on sight seeing the Victoria Falls, Curio Shopping, had Spa treatments, Sundowner Cruise, Crocodile Farm Tour, dinner and lunches at a variety of restaurants and so much more Well done

25 A happy Brent with the long awaited last member of his BIG 5 quest Early on day 7 of the hunt the team spotted 2 sets of large bull tracks and the hunt was on. After 3 hours of tracking Pieter and Brent stalked to within 30 yards of the big old bull and his askari was resting under a Mopani tree. Waiting more than 45min for the perfect shot, Brent made a great shot and bagged himself a grand old Elephant with over 50lb tusks. It took one well-placed arrow for the bull to expire. While the men were hunting Brent treated the ladies with a stay in the Victoria Falls Hotel from where they had a fun filled schedule. They went on sight seeing the Victoria Falls, Curio Shopping, had Spa treatments, Sundowner Cruise, Crocodile Farm Tour, dinner and lunches at a variety of restaurants and so much more Well done on completing the BIG 5 in great style Bwana Brent. No one I have hunted with has practiced harder or had been more focused than you were. I salute your persistence. Brent s next quiz is to re-shoot his Leopard and Buffalo with bow to complete the Big 5 with bow. We can t wait to have you and Mrs. JenJen back with us in Africa to be part of your next quiz Brent.

Our K-9 team did some welcome recovery work. Zett did great backup work with ageing rock dog Bullet. We also made a new addition to the snake brigade Wurm and Mot.
