I have learned how to handle, raise and budget for a project steer. For my 4H project, I have raised and shown steers for 2 years.

Slinky did great and I have much more confidence now. I also like going to the livestock judging contests. I won Grand my first year in 4H! This year I joined the Vets 2 Be 4H club.

Volunteer of the Month Kim was nominated for putting in countless hours of service as a Leaders Association Board member, a club leader, and the small animal superintendent. Oh Lord.

My name is Mattie Gaynor and I am 11 years old. I have so much fun learning and making friends in 4H. I have learned how to handle, raise and budget for a project steer. For my 4H project, I have raised and shown steers for 2 years. I had a difficult steer the first year but this time I started handling my steer "Slinky" 3 months earlier. I realize now it takes a lot of time and hard work to have a well behaved steer. Slinky did great and I have much more confidence now. I also like going to the livestock judging contests. I won Grand my first year in 4H! This year I joined the Vets 2 Be 4H club. I get to work with animals and watch surgeries. I can't wait to see what other clubs I can join! I think I've been involved in 4-H for about 12 years and a 4-H Leader for 8 or 9 years. My projects have included rabbits, poultry, archery and horticulture. which I would like to do again in the future once I get used to working full time again. 4-H is important to youth because it gives them the opportunity to explore and grow in so many different activities. Youth learn so much from goal setting to organizational skills. The list of things they learn from 4-H is long and if I were to try and list them all we would have a 4-H novel on our hands. I have seen so many young adults including my 3 children finish 4-H to become amazing, productive adults that had the skills and confidence to do anything they put their minds to doing. They are offering classes in their areas of expertise as a way to raise funds for their trip. Hannah Mansur, Aidan Haney qualified for the FCS Skill-a-thon and Katie Jones in an alternate. Record Book Judging Turn in your Record Book by October 15, 2018 for judging!

Get your record book closed out and done before next year s record book check-in! What is recommended for your record book at judging time?

Talk about your experience through the entire 4-H year. Include what you did with your club, when you got your animal, why you choose the project that you did, how you did at fair.

Make sure that you list all the activities you participated in through out the year in your resume. These will be very useful later when applying for scholarships.

6 Record Book Judging Turn in your Record Book by October 15, 2018 for judging! Make sure your story is completed all the way through fair, project records are closed out, and all is ready for the judge. This is not a requirement, but it s highly recommended! Get your record book closed out and done before next year s record book check-in! What is recommended for your record book at judging time? Here are some suggestions for you to get your record book in tip top shape for the judge. 4-H Notes/Story for the year that we just completed ( ) should be complete all the way thru fair. Talk about your experience through the entire 4-H year. Include what you did with your club, when you got your animal, why you choose the project that you did, how you did at fair. This is your story and your memory page for this past year in the 4-H program. Resume is completed with club meetings held/attended and projects updated. Make sure that you list all the activities you participated in through out the year in your resume. These will be very useful later when applying for scholarships. Especially your community service and leadership! Project records for the current year must be completely closed out. Remember to keep your livestock check stub for important information needed on the financial summary. Your financial summary has to be completed and closed out. Make sure that you have depreciated your inventory. Advancements must show progression from year to year. Previous 4-H year story and project records, including financial summary, must be completed and closed out for the year. Optional to include up to 3 pages single sided of pictures behind the Notes Page.
