Highlights 11/12 Review of Fall grades Four Student-Athletes 4.0 GPA s; seven President s list; six Dean s list Baseball- 2.94; Softball- 2.57; Volleyball Review of Section 16 Report and Comparisons with other colleges Review of Athletic Department Community Service activities. 2 Athletic Advisory Committee February 26, :00 PM Minutes Present: Josh Holt, Steve Husebye, Cindy Lackey, Virginia Leach, Donna MacDonald, Scott Pennington, Jason Trantham, Melanie Wagner, Patti Weasel, Mike Matulia, Tammie Drunasky Absent: Debra Dabney, Allison Rehbaum, Alissa Sustarsic 1. Approval of Spring Minutes: Reviewed Athletic Advisory Committee Meeting minutes. Patti Weasel motioned to approve the minutes, Cindy Lackey seconded and they passed unanimously. 2. Highlights 11/12: Disseminated and reviewed. There were nine Academic All-Americans, which is an LSSC school record. Melanie Wagner was voted by the student-athletes as Professor of the Year. 3. Review of Fall Grades: Disseminated and reviewed honor roll list including four student-athletes with a 4.0 GPA. The overall GPA s were baseball 2.94, softball 2.57, and volleyball Section 16 Report: Disseminated and compared to state results. Our success rate is higher than the state average. LSSC s graduation rate for was 78.5% compared to the state average of 67.3%. LSSC s Transfer rate was 83.8%. 5. Community Service: Disseminated and reviewed the different projects and events our studentathletes participated in. 6. Athletic Mission Statement: Disseminated and reviewed. Each department s mission statement should link to LSSC s mission statement. Donna MacDonald motioned to approve the mission statement, Ginger Leach seconded and it was approved unanimously. 7. Upcoming Events: Lakehawk Roundup and Spring Fest will be April 10 th in conjunction with Student Life. There will be different games and contests for everyone to participate in. WingFest is on hold this year due to scheduling conflicts and the increase in wing prices. 8. Open Discussion/Comments: Progress reports were sent out electronically this semester via and Blackboard with very few returned from professors. Therefore, the paper progress reports were brought back along with the option for professors to use or Blackboard if they prefer. 9. Adjourn: Cindy Lackey motioned and Scott Pennington seconded the motion to adjourn.

8 Athletics Mission Statement: Lake-Sumter State College provides a comprehensive Intercollegiate Athletic Program that provides opportunities for active participation in intercollegiate activities in order to promote the growth and development of intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and civic knowledge and skill for all participants. LSSC Athletic Programs embrace excellence, diversity and innovation to maximize student learning and success.

9 Athletics Academic Mission Statement: Orient athletes to the college and quickly assist in the development of strong values for academic, community, and personal development. Systematically assess entering athletes for academic preparedness (recruiting and assessment testing). Identify the highest-risk athletes and create individualized plans to support and develop them as effective learners. Adopt structured study programs that will also serve other at-risk athletes (teachinglearning center and tutoring sessions). Use College and departmental tutorial resources to maximize learning. Monitor academic performance and engage coaches in partnership toward academic achievement. Demand the best from our student-athletes, challenging them to develop critical life skills. Lake-Sumter State College Student-Athlete s eligibility should be a byproduct of the systematic approach outlined above.
