These 16 golfers will duke it out on a match play basis (no handicaps). Others will be placed in flights based on their handicaps, so all players will have a fair and balanced chance to win their flight. The two players who ultimately vie for the Champion s Trophy are always followed around the course by a raft of carts and numerous walkers. All championship matches will be 18 hole contests, with the individuals in the other flights deciding whether to go 9 or 18 before teeing off, of course this is serious golf! Individual events are planned by committees who publicize the event and details about it. Guests are welcome at mixed golf events. Tournaments are scheduled throughout the season. The Crossover Tournament and Adam and Eve Tournaments are annual events. Eshquaguma CC Crossover Tournament Each player will be assigned to a two-person team; one man, one woman. A high handicapper will be teamed up with a low handicapper assigned by the Pro Shop. The scoring for the two person team will be medal play for 18 holes. Scoring is determined as follows: both team members tee off (from the men s tee and women s tee, respectively). For their second shots, they each hit each other s drive. After these second shots, they will choose one to hit, and if it s the man s, the lady will hit, and vice-versa. They then alternate shots until the final putt. The entry fee for the event is payable in the Pro Shop, with nice awards going to the various winners. 33

4 ECC Information 1. The annual $40 fee for is to be paid to the Golf Committee NOT the Pro Shop by June 12, Those who cannot join us on Ladies day and wish to play occasionally, may pay $5.00 to the Ladies division each Wednesday they choose to play. 2. Paying the $40.00 fee allows you to play in the Team Event, Handicap Event, Fun Day & the Ladies Club Tournament. This fee also entitles the member to two greens fee passes for guests. The Ladies Handicap Prize is donated by a family member in memory of a deceased female ECC member. Please notify the Handicap Tournament Committee if you would like to donate and/or present a prize hole golfers should be on hand at 7:30 a.m. for 7:45 start. Those golfing 9-holes should be on hand by 9:30 a.m. for a 9:45 start. 4. All paid golfers will be given a printed schedule of events and games to be played, for each Wednesday of the summer. Know your handicap and how to adjust your scores. The Rules Committee is always available and willing to show you how to figure and use your handicap. 8. On, you are NOT to adjust your scores with handicaps. Score ALL strokes for each hole you may NOT score your maximum handicap per hole. The Pro Shop personnel will adjust your scores after you hand in your score card and they will record your adjusted score. 9. Finish out your putts NO GIMMEES! 10. This year s festivities kick off with the Family Golf Outing scheduled for June 30th. Many families have numerous players, from age six to eighty-six, playing 9 holes or more. No formal scores are kept, but it s a wonderful chance to have Mom, Dad, the Kids, the Grandparents, and other assorted relatives play golf together and do some special bonding. July 4th is an extraordinary ECC tradition, beginning with a roadside party around 11:00 a.m., followed by a delightful parade with several homemade floats, animals, our own band, local police, fire, and ambulances sounding their horns and sirens, capped by kids games galore. Amazing firework displays light up the evening skies from many sites around the lake as a final tribute to a beautiful and meaningful day. June 30th, 2012 July 22, Hole Adam and Eve Event This is a 9-hole couples event, match play with handicaps. Entry fee is a modest $15.00, with prizes and awards at a dinner following golf. Any and all rulings during stipulated matches will be made by the Proshop Manager. If there is any question to a ruling or if the Proshop Manager is not available, a provisional ball shall be played until a decision is made. 36

Players choose their own partners and make up their own foursomes for the round of golf. There are no assigned tee times. Those who wish to do so, may stay for dinner at the Club. Arrangements may be made in advance with the Pro Shop staff if special games or pairings are desired. ECC Holiday Party December 2nd Golf Scramble E.R.A. Eshquaguma Retirees Association golf is open to any Eshquaguma retiree. Each Tuesday and Friday morning, players meet at the Clubhouse to draw straws for partners. Tee off is at 9:00 a.m., and players stay for coffee after the round. Breakfast is served to E.R.A. players on the first Tuesday of the month in June, July, August and September. There is a banquet for players and their spouses/significant others when the regular season concludes in early September. Here s our final tournament played as a fitting end to a happy season. The weather is generally superb. The format is a scramble all players drive; the best drive is chosen; all except the person who hit the drive hit the second shot; similarly, the third shot is hit by all except one, and this continues to the green, where all players can putt. Generally, two drives from each player must be used. The golf is followed by cocktails, dinner, and fabulous prizes. (September 9) 37

8 2012 Men s Tournament Schedule of Events August 12-19, 2012 CHAMPIONSHIP FLIGHT FORMAT FOR 2012 The top 16 players in championship flight are no longer required to play a qualifying round to determine seeding. Instead, players will be required to have a current and valid MGA/GHIN handicap index prior to registering for the event. Players are required to post all scores throughout the 2012 golf season. Posting accuracy and frequency will be monitored by the Proshop. If you have an insufficient number of rounds entered and/or your postings are deemed inaccurate, your entry could be subject to change. The players having the lowest 16 handicap indexes effective on the July 31, 2012 revision date will be eligible for championship flight. The #1 overall seed will be awarded to the previous year s champion; seeds #2 through #12 will be seeded by handicap index; seeds #12 through #16 will be drawn randomly to complete the field of 16. The first round losers will still form first flight. You must register before the Proshop closes on Tuesday, August 7. SUNDAY, AUGUST 12 - THURSDAY, AUGUST 16 Championship Flight First Round Matches Players will determine pairings and play dates and should notify the Proshop Manager prior to starting. All Championship flight matches must be completed by 5:00 pm on Thursday, August 16. THURSDAY, AUGUST 16 Men s Shootout (9 holes) 4:00 pm $10 cash entry fee and is open to all men and space in the shootout is unlimited. This year s shootout will be a two-man alternate shot format. Pairings will be made by the Proshop. See separate sign-up. Past Champions Reception & Parimutual - 6:00 p.m. Place your bets on the tourney favorites and dark horses while enjoying an evening of cocktails and hors d oeuvres sponsored by the ECC Past Champions. FRIDAY & SATURDAY, AUGUST 17 & 18 Championship and Other Flights Tee times and pairings will be established by the Proshop Manager. See or call Proshop for starting times and pairings. The course will be closed until all matches are completed. SUNDAY, AUGUST 21 GLORY S LAST SHOT Championship and Other Flights Tee times and pairings will be established by the Proshop Manager (beginning with Championship Flight at 9:00 a.m.). Men s final pairing to start at 1:00 p.m. Awards ceremony to follow the completion of the final match. Cocktails and food buffet available after the final match.
