1 FISH BITES The Marlins are looking to avoid a three-game sweep today when they take on the Dodgers at 1:10 p.m. Left-hander Chris O'Grady (1-0, 5.06) will get the ball for the Fish, making his second career start and appearance. The Dodgers will counter with southpaw Rich Hill (5-4, 3.69), who is 1-1 with a 5.84 ERA in three career appearances (two starts) against Miami. Miami is on a six-game homestand, which will also see the Phillies come to town tomorrow through Wednesday. Following an off-day on Thursday, the Marlins will head out on the road to Cincinnati (July 21-23) and Texas (July 24-26). Miami wrapped up the first half with a 6-4 road trip through Milwaukee (1-2), St. Louis (2-2), and San Francisco (3-0). LAST NIGHT VS. THE DODGERS The Marlins were limited to three hits over the first six innings by Alex Wood in a 7-1 loss to the Dodgers. The Los Angeles offense gave the southpaw all the support he would need in that time, putting up five runs in the third and one more in the fourth for an early 6-0 lead. Miami cracked the scoreboard against the Dodgers' bullpen in the seventh, as Justin Bour (double), J.T. Realmuto (single), and JT Riddle (RBI-single) recorded three consecutive two-out hits. Christian Yelich (3x4) and Realmuto (2x3) had the only multi-hit games for Miami. Los Angeles scored six of its runs with two outs last night; Miami has allowed 16 base runners and nine runs with two outs in this series, and a.423 (11x26) average against. VS. LOS ANGELES The Marlins need a win today to avoid tying their worst single-season winning percentage against the Dodgers in Club history, which was a 1-5 (.167) campaign in Miami had been 8-3 over its last 11 games against Los Angeles prior to this season, which has seen the Fish drop three-of-four at Chavez Ravine in May and the first two games of this series. Miami trails the all-time series, , and is at home (7-11 at Marlins Park). SWEEP INFO The Marlins are looking to avoid their eighth sweep at the hands of the Dodgers all-time, the first since a three-game sweep from August 4-6, 2006 at Dolphin Stadium. Five of the previous sweeps have been in three-game sets, while two were in two-game sets. UP NEXT The Philadelphia Phillies come to town tomorrow to open a three-game series. Miami has a three-game winning streak against the Phillies, but that is the longest winning streak for either side in this series in nearly two years, since the Marlins won four straight from September 23-October 3, Since then, Philly holds a slim advantage. The Phils have a lead in the all-time series, but Miami has a lead in South Florida (27-22 at Marlins Park). O'GRADY LOOKS TO TURN TWO Chris O'Grady is making his second career appearance today. He made his Major League debut on July 8 at San Francisco, picking up a win in a 5-4 victory after tossing 5.1 innings and allowing three runs on five hits and two walks, with four strikeouts. Only one pitcher in Club history has started and won his first two Major League appearances: A.J. Burnett in Three other pitchers have started and won their first two appearances as a Marlin: Alex Fernandez in 1997 (eighth career season), Al Leiter in 1996 (10th), and Charlie Hough in 1993 (24th). No pitcher in Club history, making his MLB debut or otherwise, has started and won his first three appearances as a Marlin. RIDING THE TROLLEY J.T. Realmuto went 2x3 last night, extending his career-opening hitting streak against the Dodgers to 16 games record on this date: 8-10 (.393/22x56). That puts Realmuto into exclusive company against the historic Dodgers' franchise. Since 1910, only Jim Davenport (18 games from April 15, 1958 to September 1, 1958) and Juan Pierre (16 from Sept. 8, 2000 to July 22, 2001) have opened their careers against the Dodgers with hitting streaks of at least 16 games. Realmuto's streak is also the longest active run in the Majors against Los Angeles. Additionally, Realmuto's streak is the third-longest to open a career against an opponent in Club history. The longest was Luis Castillo's 23-game streak against Tampa Bay from , while Marcell Ozuna's active 21-game streak against Tampa Bay is second. THE KIDS ARE OUT OF CONTROL Giancarlo Stanton (26), Marcell Ozuna (23), and Justin Bour (20) are the first trio of Marlins to reach the 20-homer plateau together in the first half in Club history. According to Stats LLC, they are also just the third trio-plus of teammates all under the age of 30 to do so in Major League history (based on age as of July 1). The 2000 Blue Jays had four players under 30 reach that mark (Carlos Delgado, Tony Batista, Raul Mondesi, Jose Cruz Jr.), and the 1970 Reds had three (Tony Perez, Johnny Bench, Lee May). BASH L.A. Giancarlo Stanton enters this series as one of just five players all-time to compile an OPS of or better for his career against the Dodgers in their 60 years in Los Angeles (min. 150 plate appearances). Stanton has 14 doubles and 13 home runs in his career against the Dodgers, with a.365 OBP and a.671 slugging percentage. At 1.036, Stanton's OPS ranks fourth on that list, behind Gary Sheffield (1.093) and Jim Eisenreich (1.087), and Joe Cunningham (1.051), ahead of Brad Hawpe (1.014). Stanton homered five times over his final five games of the first half, including the 22nd and 23rd multi-homer games of his career (fourth and fifth this season). Only the Dodgers' Cody Bellinger (6) has more multi-homer games this season, while only Jose Bautista (27) and Miguel Cabrera (25) have more since 2010, while Edwin Encarnacion also has 23.
