The Z s swept the Storm Chasers in their first four-game set April at Zephyr Field, outscoring Omaha in that series. The Zephyrs have won six of their last seven vs. Omaha dating back to last season, when they took 10 of 16 from the Storm Chasers, including 4-4 at Werner Park. LAST TIME OUT The Zephyrs rebounded from being no-hit on Wednesday with nine runs on 14 hits on Thursday in a 9-1 victory over Iowa. Elih Villanueva held the I-Cubs scoreless on two hits with a walk and six strikeouts in 7.0 innings to earn his third straight win, and chipped in at the plate with an RBI single during a four-run fourth inning. Iowa made two errors in the frame, which included a two-run double by Josh Rodriguez, leading to four unearned runs charged to losing pitcher Kyle Hendricks. The Z's added five runs against reliever Alberto Cabrera in the seventh, as Mark Canha hit a three-run homer and Kyle Jensen followed with a two-run shot to give the Zephyrs a 9-0 lead. ON THE HILL Brian Flynn gets the call for his eighth start, coming off a victory on Monday at Round Rock when he allowed three runs and six hits in 6.0 innings with a season-high eight strikeouts. Flynn scattered eight hits and three runs in 5.0 innings in a win over the Chasers on April 24, and is 1-1 with a 2.04 ERA in three career starts vs. Omaha. BOOK OF ELIH Elih Villanueva has won three consecutive starts for the first time since May 3-13, 2011, when he beat Memphis, Iowa and Salt Lake in succession. He earned his 21st career victory as a Zephyr to move into a tie with Steve Sparks for seventh on the franchise's career wins list. Villanueva was making his 59th start in a New Orleans uniform, tying him with Tom Koehler for fourth on the career chart. Villanueva has yet to allow more than three runs in any of his seven starts this season, and his 2.08 ERA (9 ER / 39.0 IP) is good for sixth in the PCL. RAINED OUT Friday s rain out was the Zephyrs' second of the season (April 29 at Nashville). The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on July 30 amidst what is now scheduled to be the first 13-game homestand in New Orleans Zephyrs history. The team twice played 13 straight home games while calling Privateer Park home, in 1993 encompassing the All-Star break, and again in 1995 when a road series was rained out between homestands. OUTTA DA PARK MARK Mark Canha s three-run home run Thursday was his fourth homer in the last four games, and he is hitting.346 (9x26) in his last six games with two doubles, four home runs, 10 RBI and seven runs scored.
