NOVEMBER 18, 2015 RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL The International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR ), the international division of the American Arbitration Association (AAA ), the Arbitration and Mediation Centre of the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce (CAM-CCBC), and the Arbitration Centre of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), São Paulo, bring together in-house counsel and international alternative dispute resolution (ADR) attorneys, experts, and arbitrators to explore the latest trends, legal framework, and conflict-management options for complex and evolving global commercial transactions. This year s event,, will have a special focus on the various types of industries and the possible disputes that may arise related to the Olympic Games to be held in Rio de Janeiro in Practitioners will be provided with practical guidance on how to avoid potential problems and enhance the probability of a successful outcome for the resolution of these international business disputes. But the program will not focus only on sports arbitration: additional sessions will cover international ADR best practices as they relate to licensing, construction, and infrastructure projects. The management of business-related conflicts that may stem from these Olympic Games is a major component of this event. With the massive undertaking and tight time frames involved, the Olympic Games require clear and efficient ways to prevent any potential disputes where possible, and, if not possible, to expedite and resolve any related conflicts and disputes to ensure that delays are mitigated and projects are completed as required. These powers are implemented in accordance with those policies and the approach of the administrative mandate, which stems from the arbitration agreement selected by the parties. While these institutions are impartial and independent and prefer not to insert themselves into the arbitration process, they often are required to make substantive decisions to ensure that the parties arbitration agreement is not frustrated.
