3 Side Match 8: Long Range Handgun Guns Of The Trijicon World Shooting Championship Official Match Awards Match Sponsors Match Overview The goal of the Trijicon World Shooting Championship is to annually hold the world s greatest shooting competition, and to crown the world s greatest shooter each year. To achieve this goal, we will provide all relevant and useful firearms, optics, equipment and ammunition in order to even the playing field among domestic & international competitors. We will also provide the facility, targets, target systems, match staff, scoring officials, winnings and prizes. All shooters will be required to use a common set of match provided and approved firearms across the four day competition. Our approach in this and future competitions will be to take a broad and reasonable measurement of a shooter s skill across twelve EQUALLY WEIGHTED shooting sport disciplines. Each of the twelve courses of fire will be BASED UPON an actual and highly popular shooting sport. However, in many cases we will MODIFY the actual sport / discipline rules for safety and range logistics and to hold that specific discipline on a set of common firearms and ammunition. While we completely understand the are significant issues faced by each shooter competing on common firearms, we know that the greatest shooters will be able to overcome these challenges as needed in order to win the overall event and or match segments. Since all shooters will be required to shoot the same set of reasonable firearms, and scoring has been modified to reflect these realities, our position is truly best of luck to all shooters. In summary, this competition, the individual shooter and the skill of the individual shooter while eliminating the advantage produced by individual firearms or ammunition, will determine who the world s greatest shooter is.
4 General Regulations and FAQ s All firearms and ammunition used will be provided All holsters, and related shooting gear will be provided There are twelve match stages of fire where scores will be used to determine the world champion. There are four match segments, which include three stages per segment in the officially scored portion, in addition to 8 side matches for entertainment value. However, in some cases, and as outlined in this document, some the side matches will be used to break ties in the actual twelve match stages! Cash awards are given for: side match wins, stage wins, segment wins, high lady shooter win, and top four finishers. No shooter is permitted to bring or use any non match provided gear or ammunition, optics gear or firearms Shooters may bring their own hearing and eye protection, which will be required on all stages. Due to time and overall match time requirements, ties on all stages and side matches are determined by a competitors overall stage finish / place in other relevant stages or side matches. In the event of a tie in some stages, prize and or winnings will be shared as directed by match officials. All shooters attempting a stage will receive a minimum point value. Those who DO NOT attempt a stage will be given a ZERO point value for the stage. Match Scoring All stages equal a 100 point maximum point potential A shooter's overall placement on each stage will be ranked based upon finishing placement order. 100 points will go to the first place shooter and each shooters after first place will receive a percentage of the 100 point maximum point allowance Side matches are based on the same overall place finish system with the award to the first place finisher. Side match results in some cases will be used to break ties in the actual match stages for determining the overall champion and or stage winner. When shooters tie on a particular stage, points will be divided equally between the tied shooters. Example: two shooters tie for second place. If the point total for second place is 99 points, and third place is 98 points both the second and third place shooters would receive 98.5 points for the stage OVERLL TIEBREAKER: If a tie in the overall match points earned occurs, the better finishing place on the Stage 5 FClass event will be the tie breaker. If a tie exists beyond stage 5, stage 12 will determine the overall winner. If a tie still exists then Stage 7 will determine winner. If a tie exists beyond stage 7, then stage 8, then stage 2, then stage 1, then stage 3, then stage 4. If a tie still
5 exists then a split in the winnings will occur and a cochampion will be crowned. Disqualifications Any reasonable firearms competition safety, penalties and disqualification play a significant factor. All stages will follow their respective shooting sports safety rules. Shooters are only to handle firearms under the direct supervision of a range officer. Any shooter who is intoxicated, overly rude and or exhibits unusual or unprofessional behavior will be immediately disqualified from completion and asked to leave the facility Any shooter attempting to modify, tamper or disable any firearm or act outside of the specific stage rule given an the onset of each stage in the stage briefing will be disqualified Any shooter having a safety violation on a side match will be disqualified from that side match only. Protests and Appeals The world shooting championship protest process is as follows: The official protest committee is made up of a 3person protest committee lead by the match director and Dennis Willing Director of NRA Competitive Shooting of the NRA. All determinations from the committee are final. Protests by shooters must be logged within 30 minutes of incident occurring and arbitrated within 1 hour by the Protest Committee for final decision Shooters filing a protest will need to complete a formal protest form and submit the protest to the segment RO within 30 minutes of the incident All stage RO s will have the ability to render scoring judgments and disqualifications Each shooter will be able to appeal to the segment RO no more than one time during the match Each shooter will be permitted one formal protest during the match which must follow an official Appeal to the segment director Upon a stage RO disqualifying a shooter for a safety violation, a stage RO will report the disqualification to the segment RO A segment RO decision may be appealed one time in the match per shooter A match director appeal will be after the match
