This show will be governed by and run under the latest revised rules of the ARBA. All prizes will be awarded in accordance with the ARBA Standard of Perfection. 95TH ANNUAL AMERICAN RABBIT BREEDERS ASSOCIATION CONVENTION West Springfield, MA --- October 27-31, 2018 RULES 1. Open Class Livestock general rules, regulations and health requirements apply in this department. In case general rules conflict with Rabbit Department general or special rules, the latter will govern. 2. SUBMITTING ENTRIES. Entries may be made online at Entries may also be made by printing the form available at Complete entry form and return it with full payment of all fees to: Iowa State Fair, Rabbit Department, P.O. Box 57130, Des Moines, Iowa ENTRY DEADLINE IS JULY 14. ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED ONLINE OR POSTMARKED ON OR BEFORE JULY 14. NO LATE ENTRIES ACCEPTED. 4. ENTRY FEES. Each exhibitor, as a requirement for entry, will pay an entry fee of $2 per Rabbit (Junior, Intermediate, Senior), $2 per Meat Pen, $2 per Single Fryer and $1 per Fur class. Entry Fee must accompany entry or it will be returned. 5. A $2 service charge to cover veterinarian inspection fees will be required with all entry forms. 6. ADMISSION TO THE FAIR. Each exhibitor must purchase two discounted admission tickets at $8 each when making entry. Additional tickets may be purchased. Discounted tickets for children 6-11 years old may be purchased for $4 each. Without admission tickets, the full price of $12 (adults) and $6 (children) per day will be charged at the gate. 7. UNLOAD PERMITS. Each exhibitor will be given one unload permit. This permit allows a maximum of 30 minutes to unload animals and tack but does not provide parking. 8. VEHICLE PERMITS. Each exhibitor must pay for a vehicle permit at $10 per day. Each exhibitor is limited to two ongrounds lot permits per day. Any additional passes will be issued for Lot Y. Vehicle permits must be purchased in advance by indicating the specific days needed on the Rabbit Entry Form. Each vehicle permit will park one car or truck (no trailers) in a Fairgrounds lot for the specified day(s). Vehicle permits are required to park in Fairgrounds lots on a space available basis. Parking will not be available at the gate. 9. REFUNDS. No refunds of fees will be made unless cancellation is received IN WRITING (letter, fax or ) by July 21. No refunds will be given on tickets, wristbands or vehicle permits. No refunds of $5.00 or less will be issued. Refunds will be made by mail after the close of the Fair (separate from premium checks). CLASSES 10. On your entry form list Breed, Variety and Sex (buck or doe). List class as Junior, Intermediate, Senior, Single Fryer, Meat Pen or Fur. 11. Fur classes provided for: Normal Colored, Normal White, Rex, Satin Colored and Satin White. 12. No rabbit may be entered in fur classes unless entered in regular classes. 13. Commercial meat classes provided for pen of three and single fryer. Age limit 10 weeks. Minimum weight is 3 1/2 pounds each. Maximum weight is 5 1/2 pounds each. ELIGIBILITY OF ANIMALS 14. All rabbits must be entered in the name of the bona fide owners, NO Rabbitry or Farm Name. 15. Rabbits may not be spayed or neutered. 16. All stock must be permanently and legibly ear marked. Superintendent will refuse all rabbits not ear marked as specified. Entry fee will be forfeited. 17. NO SUBSTITUTING WILL BE ALLOWED EXCEPT IN THE SAME CLASS, BREED AND SEX. 18. All rabbits may compete only in the class entered. 19. NO RABBITS WILL BE ALLOWED IN SHOW ROOM UNLESS ENTERED IN SHOW. ARRIVAL 20. WE WILL NOT be using ARBA remark cards. When you arrive please come and get your check-in sheets for Ear # changes ONLY. CAGES / SHOW ROOM 21. Cavy entries will be accepted; however, there are no cavy cages available. 22. Rabbits will be properly cared for by experienced and competent rabbit breeders. 23. NO WATER OR FEED CONTAINERS WILL BE PROVIDED. 24. Absolutely no breeding in the show room. 25. Selling of equipment and supplies is prohibited except for Official Iowa State Fair vendors. 1
2 JUDGING 26. Each exhibitor is responsible for getting his/her entry to the show table. If you are unable to attend, please make arrangements with the Superintendent prior to show time. 27. The Iowa State Fair Board reserves the right to substitute another ARBA licensed judge in the event of the inability of the selected judge to attend. 28. Any person interfering with the judge or judging in any way will have his/her exhibits disqualified, without refund of entry fees or any premiums awarded previous to disqualification. 29. All rabbits must be shown in their natural condition. Any violation of this rule shall exclude such rabbits from competition and result in the withholding of any premium awards. 30. There must be 15 or more rabbits of a breed shown for that breed to be sanctioned the following year. 31. All specials open to the world unless otherwise stated. 32. Ribbons will be awarded through 5th place. AWARDS 33. There must be 10 or more of a breed or variety shown in order to be eligible for monetary specials offered by the Iowa State Fair. 34. Display points to count as follows: First, 6; Second, 4; Third, 3; Fourth, 2; Fifth, 1; multiplied by the number in the class. 35. An exhibitor must have four or more entries to be eligible for display awards. 36. An award of $8 will be paid for Best Display on all sanctioned breeds provided 10 or more rabbits are exhibited in that breed. RELEASE 37. All entries must be checked out by show officials. Any exhibitor removing entries without official authorization shall forfeit all premium awards. 38. On Sunday morning before you leave, please pick up your results and Legs from the Show Secretary. 1. No entry fee is required. 2. Rabbits must meet regular health requirements. 3. Rabbits will be judged by weight only. LARGEST RABBIT CONTEST RULES 4. Any use of techniques, drugs, procedures or practices to alter weight or appearance of animals shall be cause for disqualification. 5. A rosette will be awarded to the winner.
