ENTRIES ENTRIES CLOSE: MAY 16 th, Entries postmarked after this date or entered at the show will be charged post entry fees of $5.00 per class. Mail entries complete with signed entry blank, fee payment (NO BLANK/TAB CHECKS) and all photocopies of membership cards and registration certificates to Show Secretary. Credit Cards will be accepted with a $15 fee per horse added to your total. Entries will only be considered complete if copies of each of the following are sent with Entry Form: A. For Regional Show only: USEF Amateur Certification (if applicable) THERE WILL BE AN ADDITIONAL $10.00 CHARGE FOR EACH INCOMPLETE ENTRY. Entries lacking any of the above mentioned, will be considered incomplete and may be returned. Exhibitor packets will not be given to exhibitors until entry is complete. All entries must be accompanied by a valid check or money order for the full amount of all fees made out to ILLINOIS ARABIAN CLASSIC. THERE WILL BE AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR ANY CHECK RETURNED FOR ANY REASON. THERE WILL BE A $25.00 FEE FOR STOP PAYMENT OF CHECK FOR ANY REASON. *A copy of both the ownership side (and pedigree side for purebred Arabians) of the current registration certificate of each horse entered must be sent along with the entry form to the Show Secretary, or be presented in the show office for post entries. **All entries must be made in writing on an official entry form for this show or photocopies of the same. Please use a ballpoint pen or typewriter to complete entry form. Every owner, trainer, rider, driver, handler and parent or guardian of a junior exhibitor must sign the entry form and must be a member of USEF and AHA Competition Member or pay the nonmember/single event fees. A horse may be entered in the name of his recorded owner or lessee only. The complete address and phone number of the recorded owner or lessee must be given, even if an agent enters the horse. All horses belonging to one owner must be entered on one entry form. No horses may be entered on more than one form. 3

9 GENERAL RULES This horse show is conducted in accordance with the Rules of the USEF and Arabian Horse Association. The official rulebook of each organization will prevail for this show. Each participant in this show is responsible for knowledge of these rules and is subject to these rules. Any changes or corrections of the rules will automatically become part of this prize list. Questions that may arise that are not covered by either AHA or USEF rulebooks will be decided by the Show Committee and their decisions will be final. USEF MEMBERSHIP (FOR REGIONAL SHOW ONLY) Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 Show Pass fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) 9eservat; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes. USEF RULES: (REGIONAL SHOW ONLY)--Every class offered herein, which is covered by the rules and specifications of the current USEF Rule Book, will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. See USEF Rule Book for Arabian Horse rules, class descriptions and judging specifications. Any changes in the USEF rules will automatically become part of this Prize list. The Show Committee reserves the right to make such changes in procedure, personnel, rules and regulations as deemed by them to be in the best interest of the show. AHA MEMBERSHIP: EACH COMPETITOR (THIS INCLUDES AT LEAST ONE RECORDED OWNER AND ALL TRAINERS, DRIVERS, RIDERS, HALTER HANDLERS, COACHES AND THE PERSON(S) SIGNING THE ENTRY BLANK) IN AN ARABIAN HORSE ASSOCIATION RECOGNIZED ARABIAN DIVISION, AT THE TIME OF ENTRY INTO A COMPETITION, MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF A VALID AHA MEMBERSHIP/COMPETITION CARD, JOIN AHA OR PAY AN AHA SINGLE EVENT MEMBERSHIP FEE PER COMPETITOR.WHEN AN AGENT SIGNS FOR THE OWNER AT AN AHA RECOGNIZED COMPETITION, BOTH THE OWNER AND AGENT MUST BE MEMBERS OF AHA OR PAY THE AHA SINGLE EVENT MEMBERSHIP.SINGLE EVENT MEMBERSHIP IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AT AHA REGIONALOR NATIONAL COMPETITIONS. EXHIBITORS IN WALK-TROT CLASSES ARE EXEMPT FROM AHA MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS AT QUALIFYING COMPETITIONS, BUT MUST HAVE AN AHA MEMBERSHIP WITH COMPETITION CARD AT AHA REGIONAL AND NATIONAL COMPETITIONS. EXHIBITORS IN LEAD LINE CLASSES OR PARENTS/GUARDIANS SIGNING FOR MINORS ARE EXEMPT FROM AHA MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS. CLOSING OF ENTRIES: Entries close May 16 th, Entries postmarked after this date will be charged POST ENTRY FEES. This will be strictly enforced. Post entries are accepted but must be made no later than the session preceding the session the class is in. A $5 post entry fee per class will be added for entries that were not pre-entered by the entry close date. No post entry fees will be charged for horses pre-entered in at least 1 class. No credit will be given for swapping classes. CONDUCT: Exhibitors are hereby notified that the AHA Board of Directors will strictly enforce and actively support all AHA, USEF and/or CEF rules regarding sportsmanship, conduct & courtesy at all AHA Recognized shows and events. Excessive use of a whip on any horse in a stall, runway, schooling area, show ring, or elsewhere on the show grounds, before or during a show, by any person, constitutes a violation and renders the offender subject to penalty. DOGS: Illinois State Fairgrounds policy does not allow dogs in the Coliseum. NO PETS ALLOWED IN THE COLISEUM with the exception of service animals. FARRIER: No farrier other than the official farrier(s) will be permitted to shoe on the grounds without the express permission of Show Management. Farriers granted this permission will be required to purchase Commercial Exhibitor space and provide proof of insurance. Official show farrier(s), the USEF Steward (s) and the judge are the final authorities on shoe and hoof measurements. ADMISSION TO ARENA: No person is permitted to enter arena except judges, assistants, exhibitors in class & show photographer. Headers are not permitted in arena until summoned by order of Judge. ATTENDANTS: Headers entering the ring during any and all Walk/Trot and Driving Classes must be properly attired. A PLAIN UNMARKED SMOCK IS REQUIRED. CAMPERS: The Illinois State Fairgrounds regulations require that campers be selfcontained and parked in a specified area and that they pay a camping fee for use of electricity. No tents allowed. Fairground Security will collect fees. CASHING CHECKS: Personal or payback checks will not be cashed at the Show. Payback checks may be used to pay entries. CLASS CALLS: Due to unforeseeable problems with any mechanical device, the public address system must be considered a courtesy. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to be sure that his/her horse is at the gate at the prescribed time. Every effort will be made to maintain a working public address system to carry class calls. 9 FIRST AID: First Aid treatment will be available during all performances for the duration of the horse show in accordance with USEF Rules. FOOTING: All show and warm up areas are a sand loam mix about 4 deep. All areas are covered. The show ring is 163 x 228. GATE LIMIT/CLASS CALLS: Show will be run according to USEF Rules. The 2-minute rule will be STRICTLY ENFORCED. If time is needed for a tack change, the gate must be notified. All tack changes must be made at the entrance gate to the show arena. The gate will close two minutes after the first horse enters the ring or with large classes taking more than two minutes, the gate will close after the entrance of the final horse in a continuous string of horses. 10 HEALTH PAPERS: ALL horses must have a negative Coggins test dated within 12 months of the start of the show. Out of state horses must have a current 30-day health certificate and an Illinois Horse permit. Call or visit USEF GR845 Equine Vaccination Rule 1. At Federation licensed competitions, horses entering the grounds must be accompanied by documentation of Equine Influenza Virus and Equine Herpes Virus (Rhinopneumonitis) vaccinations within six months prior to entering the stables. Horses not in compliance with this rule may be required to leave the competition grounds upon request by Competition Management. Documentation should consist of one of the following methods mentioned below. The frequency of vaccine administration should be per the vaccine manufacturers or veterinarian s recommendations. It is recommended that vaccines are administered by or under the direction of a veterinarian. 2. In the case of vaccines administered by a veterinarian, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide documentation from the veterinarian on documenting that the horse in question received the vaccinations; name of the vaccines and date of vaccine administration. 3. In the case of vaccines administered by a person other than a veterinarian, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide a receipt of the vaccine purchase which is signed by the owner, or agent with care, custody, and control of the horse; name, serial number and expiration date of the vaccine; and date of vaccine administration. 4. In the case of a horse that is unable to receive either of the vaccinations due to a history of adverse reactions, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide a letter from the veterinarian on official letterhead stating that the horse in question cannot be vaccinated due to medical concerns and a log of temperatures taken twice daily for the seven days prior to entering the competition grounds. These horses must also have their temperature taken and logged twice daily while on the competition grounds. The log of temperatures should be provided to the Competition Management, steward, or technical delegate when requested. 5. Competition Management may not amend or enhance vaccination requirements without prior approval of the Veterinary Committee. BOD 1/17/15 Effective 12/1/15. INDEMNITY AND NON-RESPONSIBILITY CLAUSE: Illinois Arabian Horse Association and the Illinois State Fairgrounds will not be responsible for any loss, personal injury or damage to horses exhibited or for any kind or nature that may be lost, destroyed or in any way damaged. MOTORIZED VEHICLE OPERATION: Minors who do not have a valid driver s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. PAYMENT: No entries shall be accepted without full payment. No BLANK or POST DATED CHECKS accepted for pre-entries or stall reservations! Entries submitted with bad checks will not be processed and will be returned to applicant. PENALTY FEES: NO ENTRY Please do not show up in a class without first making the proper entry fee for that class in the show office. NO SHOW To expedite flow of classes, scratches MUST be reported to the show office or the Gate BEFORE the beginning of the class. If scratches are not reported, a $30 No Show fee and the class fee will be assessed per each unreported scratch. PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR: All riders (including junior riders) in hunter, jumper, and hunt seat equitation classes, where jumping is required and when jumping anywhere on competition grounds, are required to wear properly fastened protective headgear which meets or exceeds ASTM standards. Any rider may wear protective headgear in any division or class without penalty from the judge. USEF strongly encourages all riders to wear protective headgear. It is the responsibility of the rider, parent, guardian, or trainer of the junior exhibitor to see that the headgear worn complies with safety standards and is properly fitted and in good condition. Refer to current USEF Rule Book. REGISTRATION PAPERS: In order to credit exhibitors with their proper points toward Reg l and Nat l. eligibility, certification of registration from the Arabian Horse Association and/or the Canadian Arabian Horse Registry for each horse is required with the entry form, including the backside of the form. Imported or foreign entries must have been issued a Competition Visa by the Arabian Horse Association. If under one year of age, the horse must be eligible for registry and registration applied for. Photocopy of the registration papers of each horse MUST be submitted with the entry form! In the case of a sale or lease, it is required that a contract of the sale or lease, or a statement from owner be submitted with the copy of the registration papers. All entries must be in good condition. Horses entered in Amateur owner and Junior owner classes must be registered in the name of the competitor or a member of the competitor s family. Half- Arabian or Anglo-Arabian horses will be allowed in the Half-Arabian classes only (except where otherwise stated) and must have been issued a certificate of registration from the Arabian Horse Association in the Half-Arabian or Anglo-Arabian Registry, and must be entered under their full registered name. REFUNDS: All fees (except office) for entries cancelled before 5/16/18 will be refunded. Refunds of class entry fees only will be made after this date upon presentation of a Vet Cert. to Show Secretary before the start of the respective show. Once a horse is vetted out of a class, it will be considered vetted out of the entire show. SHARPS CONTAINERS: Refer to USEF GR1210. As per USEF rule GR1210.4, all used needles and other disposable sharp instruments must be placed in sharps containers. Per rule GR , competition management will fine any individual including trainers, owners, exhibitors and their agents $ for improper disposal of ndeedles or other sharp disposable instruments. SHOW OFFICE HOURS: The Show Office will be open each day at 7 AM and will close 30 minutes after the last session each day. SHOW OFFICIALS: In the event that an official fails to attend these shows or perform his/her duties, due to illness, injury or other circumstances, show committee reserves the right to substitute an official for the one designated in accordance with USEF rules. SHOW TABS: Show tabs will not be accepted for pre-entries or stalls. Exhibitors wishing to start a tab for post entries must leave a signed check. Exhibitors understand that these checks will be completed by the Show Secretary for the amount of the tab unless exhibitor closes out the account prior to the close of the show. There will be a $50 charge per check for checks returned by the bank. Interest of 1 ½ % per month will be assessed on all outstanding accounts. Returned checks not paid within 2 weeks after being notified will be turned over to USEF. STABLING: Stalls are mandatory for all horses, weanling or older. All 10 x 10 stalls have doors and are under cover. Aisles are to be kept clear at all times and are not to be blocked with stall curtains. No charges in stabling permitted without Barn Manager s permission. NO STRAW ALLOWED AT THE SHOW! Shavings available for purchase or bring your own. No nails, staples, or tape in new stalls. Hay & grain available on grounds at market price. All stall assignments will be made by the Barn Manager. NO STALLS RESERVED WITHOUT PAYMENT. LIMIT CLASSES: A limit class is open to horses/riders which have not won six first place ribbons at a regular member USEF or Equine Canada show in that particular performance division. A Limit entry is such from the date of the closing of entries. NOVICE CLASSES: A novice class is open to horses/riders which have not won three first place ribbons at a regular member USEF or Equine Canada show in that particular performance division. A Limit entry is such from the date of the closing of entries. SELECT/CHOICE/ELITE RIDERS: See USEF Rule Book Arabian, Half-Arabian/Anglo-Arabian Division. RANCH HORSE RIDING CLASSES: The Ranch Horse Riding horse should reflect the versatility, attitude, and movement of a working horse. The horse s performance should simulate a horse riding outside the confines of an arena and that of a working ranch horse. This class should show the horse s ability to work at a forward, working speed while under control by the rider. Light contact should be rewarded and horse does not have to be shown on a full drape of reins. The overall manners and responsiveness of the horse while performing the Walk/Trot-Jog/Canter-Lope and the extended jog & extended lope (at least one direction), and the horse s quality of movement are the primary considerations. Patterns available in office. LEAD LINE, RIDERS 2 TO 6 YEARS OLD: Handlers must be 16 years of age or older. Horses to be led by on a loose line at a walk on the rail both ways of the ring. The safety of all exhibitors must be of primary consideration during this class. Safety is of the utmost importance in tack and attire. Saddle must fit rider, rider s feet must be engaged in the stirrups/irons, leading rein may be attached to the cavesson or halter placed under or over the bridle. It is strongly encouraged that riders wear protective headgear (ASTM/SEI). Boots are required. To be judged on child s seat & rein. Riders may not show in any other performance class except Walk-Trot. WALK/TROT CLASSES: Walk/Trot classes are open to riders aged 10 & under. Walk/Trot riders must never have been judged at a recognized competition that required a canter or lope. 14 Arabian Community Tournament (ACT) Class Specifications 113 ACT Walk Trot Horsemanship 114 ACT Walk Trot Equitation 121 ACT Hunter/Saddle Seat Horsemanship W/T/C 122 ACT Western Horsemanship W/T/C ACT Class Specifications: The purpose of this division is to introduce potential new owners to the joys of showing and riding Arabian & Half Arabian horses by giving beginning riders of any breed an opportunity to gain experience by offering beginner classes at our Arabian Class A horse shows. Walk/Trot Sections are provided to allow multiple riders to show the same horse. *Sections will be assigned at Coach s request. RIDERS: Riders are encouraged to be in a professionally operated lesson program and to be a member of AHA, with neither being required. Riding suits and chaps are not allowed. Riding pants, jodhpurs, breeches or colored jeans are considered appropriate. A neatly fitted shirt or top is suggested. A riding helmet is also mandatory for riders 10 and under and suggested for all ages. Appropriate footwear with a small heel is mandatory. Riders are NOT allowed to cross enter into any non-act riding classes, and are ineligible to compete in ACT classes once they have shown in a full riding suit or in a Class A Arabian horse show. HORSES: Horses are encouraged to be lesson horses of any breed and should display the characteristics of such, but it is not mandatory that they are utilized by in a professional lesson all horses are welcome, as long as they display good manners and a quiet disposition. A cut-back saddle for saddle seat, western saddle for stock seat, and hunt saddle for hunt seat are to be used. Work bridles and bits, including snaffles, are allowed, and running martingales are permitted and encouraged. However, tie down martingales are not allowed. The horse show management may eliminate any horse or rider that is deemed unsafe or is not abiding by these rules. ACT entries are to follow horse show rules but are not AHA or USEF sanctioned classes. Show grooming is permitted, but not necessary as HORSES ARE NOT TO BE JUDGED. JUDGING: All academy classes are to be judged on the ability of the rider to control and show their horse to its best advantage, and upon the riding skills of the rider. Each class should be judged on the rider s basic equitation and horsemanship skills suited to the class discipline, with emphasis placed on the rider s ability to control the horse at all times, identify correct diagonals and leads promptly, and to control their horses rate in a consistent manner. Riders should convey the impression of good posture, balance, and effective control while commanding proper speed of gaits and show ring placement. Headers are allowed in the lineup in all walk-trot classes.
