Should this product malfunction during the warranty period, RACEAMERICA will, at its option, repair or replace it at no charge, provided the product has not been subjected to misuse, abuse, or alterations, modifications, and/or repairs not authorized by RACEAMERICA. Any product requiring Limited Warranty service during the warranty period should be returned to RACEAMERICA with proof of purchase. 4 PRODUCT OVERVIEW Model 6810A Dual Lane Scoreboard is a dual microprocessor controlled system based upon the 7-segment format display digit using the latest technology Ultra-Bright LEDs. The display uses an RS422 multidrop link to receive data to be displayed. The 6810A is designed to connect to RACEAMERICA s Model 2800 Series Pro Tree XL Drag Timing Systems displaying Elapsed Time, Vehicle Speed, and Winning Lane Indication for both lanes after each race. NOTE: THIS PRODUCT USES ULTRA- BRIGHT LED TECHNOLOGY. DUE TO THE BRIGHTNESS LEVEL OF THIS DISPLAY, CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN, AS WITH ANY BRIGHT LIGHTING SOURCE,TO AVOID PROLONGED VIEWING AT CLOSE RANGE AND SHORT DISTANCES. AS WITH ANY BRIGHT LIGHTING SOURCE, VISION MAY BE AFFECTED SHORT TERM SIMILAR TO FLASHBULBS ON CAMERAS. POWER REQUIREMENTS The Model 6810A Dual Lane Scoreboard can be powered by a 12VDC automotive battery or any 12VDC power source capable of 2.5 amperes current load maximum. Average power consumption is approximately 1.0 ampere. Maximum voltage should never exceed 13.2VDC at Power Input Connector. 5 PRODUCT SET-UP Model 6810A Dual Lane Scoreboard is designed to hang from side mounted eyebolts or solid mounted directly to the side frames of each display unit. STEP 1 - Configure the Display Units DIP Switches are located on the backside of the display behind the access door by sliding the door to the left revealing the power connections, data connections, and DIP switches as shown in Figure 1. The DIP switches ship from the factory preconfigured for left and right lane operation. Switch settings have two positions, ON and OFF. The ON position is indicated on the DIP switch and is active when the switch button is moved to the down position when viewed from the back of the display. DIP Switch 1: Determines how long to display the race results from the previous race before clearing the display. When a new race completes, the scoreboard will automatically update the scoreboard with the new race results irregardless of the setting of switch 1. Clicking on the RACE RESULTS button of the XLSCORE software running on the PC will redisplay the last race results on the scoreboard. display left or right lane race results. DIP Switch Definition: Switch Position Function 8 ON 30 sec 8 OFF 120 sec 7 ON Left Lane 7 OFF Right Lane STEP 2 - Assemble the Scoreboard Tools Required: #2 Philips screwdriver Straight blade screwdriver 1/4 Hex wrench (supplied) Connect Left/Right Display Units: Identify the Left and Right Display Units by the CONFIGURED LEFT/RIGHT label on the rear panel. Position the Display Units inline approximately 24 apart. Install the four Cylinder Connectors into the frontmost 5/16-18 tap of the frame of each display as shown in Figure 2. 6 are used to secure the Interconnect Rails between the Display Units. Position the lower Interconnect Rail w/ Basket over the round side of the lower Cylinder Connectors moving the displays units closer to mate with the Interconnect Rail. Install the upper Interconnect Rail from under the upper Cylinder Connectors. Tighten the screws in the Cylinder Connectors as shown in Figure 3 using the 1/4 Hex Ball End Allen Wrench. Use the short end of the Allen Wrench to make a final tightening on each screw. Attach the Center Panel: Insert the M5-25 screws through the Center Panel mounting holes. Attach the four Slot Locking Nuts by spinning then 1 or 2 turns onto the M5-25 screws Align the Slot Locking Nuts to the horizontal slots in the upper and lower Interconnect Rails as illustrated in Figure 4. Correct tightening is attained when the nuts rotate inside the Interconnect Rails while turning the M5-25 screws. Attach the L/R Lane Panels: Place the appropriate Left/Right Lane panels on top of the Scoreboard Display Units aligning the mounting holes to the taps on the top of the display frame. Using the 1/4-20 Phillips Head Screws, attach the Lane Panels to the Display Units. STEP 3 - Conect the Data Cable Open the Rear Access Doors on both Display Units to connect the power and data cables. Connect the part number RS232 Interconnect Cable to the RS232 connector of the 4500A Communication POD. Connect the other ends of this cable to the RS232 connector of both Display Units routing the cable through the cable access hole located to the right of the sliding rear access door as shown in Figure 5. Connect the long RS422 Interconnect Cable the 4500A Communications POD RS422 connectors and the XL Electronics Box connector labelled RS422 LARGE DISPLAY. Use the Twisty Ties on the rear of the Display Unit to secure loose cables as shown in Figure 5. Use the rear basket or waterproof tube to also hold loose cable and AC Adapters or other power connections. The power cables are routed through the cable access hole and connected to the mating power connector in each Display Unit. Figure 3 - Using Hex Ball End Wrench Figure 4 - Locking Nuts Positioning 6

7 SCOREBOARD MOUNTING The side frames of the Display Units have multiple 5/6-18 taps for solid mounting of the Scoreboard or hanging the Scoreboard from a cable or chain. To solid mount the Scoreboard, 5/6-18 bolts may be inserted into the outside rearmost taps onm the side frames of each Display Unit. This enables the Scoreboard to be bolted directly to rigid upright mounting brackets. To hang the Scoreboard, four eyebolts are inserted into the upper rearmost tap on both side frames of both Display Units as illustrated in Figure 7. When hanging the Scoreboard, a cable should extend from the left eyebolt on the left Display unit to the right eyebolt on the left Display Unit. A second cable should extend from the left eyebolt on the right Display Unit to the right eyebolt on the right Display Unit. The four points of contact are required to insure the integrity of the Scoreboard remains rigid in windy conditions. The double suspension cabling also helps in the event one cable fails. For additional mounting bolts, remove the plugs in some of the mounting holes in the side frames using a 5/32 Hex Allen Wrench. POWER-ON SELFTEST When the Model 6810A Dual Lane Scoreboard power source is connected, the Scoreboard begins an internal selftest and an external visual check of the display elements. The selftest begins by stepping through each segment of all twenty digits, one segment at a time. Each segment is then cleared sequentially on all 20 digits. The selftest then displays all vertical segments, then all horizontal segments, followed by three boxes inside each other. The selftest then displays the revision level of the microprocessor code and [ready], then scrolls the display until blank. The Scoreboard is ready for use.
