1 game notes double-a affiliate Frisco RoughRiders (12-11) corpus christi hooks (14-9) Texas Rangers Houston Astros game #24 monday, may 1, :05 P.m. Whataburger Field Corpus Christi, TX RHP James Dykstra (0-0, 0.66 ERA) vs. RHP Dean Deetz (2-0, 0.66 ERA) Video: MiLB.tv Audio: RidersBaseball.com, TuneIn Radio and MiLB First Pitch App LAST GAME: The home run derby continued for Corpus Christi in a 7-1 win over the RoughRiders...A day after banging four homers, the Hooks blasted five long balls, including two from GARRETT STUBBS...Riders starter YOHANDER MENDEZ allowed four of the five dingers, allowing just two other hits (both singles) in 6 2/3 innings...the Riders narrowly avoided the shutout when ROYCE BOLINGER doubled in Frisco s only run with two outs in the ninth. HOME RUN HISTORY: After allowing just one home run in the previous six games, the Riders have surrendered nine roundtrippers in the last two games, including five Sunday. The five homers were the most against the Riders since Midland did it May 6, The team single-game record is six (June 16, 2013 vs. Midland and June 19, 2007 at Midland). Corpus Christi knocked five fence-clearers for the second time against Frisco (also July 13, 2012 at Whataburger Field). The four homers given up by YOHANDER MENDEZ marked the first such occurrence since VICTOR PAYANO allowed four dingers to Midland on August 4, Nine home runs in a two-game span is also a new team record. ANOTHER WINNING APRIL IN THE BOOKS: The RoughRiders finished the season s opening month with a record, marking the club s fifth winning record in April during the last six seasons. Overall, the Riders are (.538) in the fourth month of the calendar year, posting.500-or-better records in 10 of the team s first 15 seasons. TORRID TENDLER: Riders outfielder LUKE TENDLER has been red-hot for the Riders lately. After going 2-3 with a home run Saturday night, he s recorded hits in eight of his last 10 games, going (.342) in that span with two doubles, two home runs, seven RBIs and five multi-hit games. His recent surge has put him atop the team lead in slugging (.457). CARDONA CRUISING: Outfielder JOSE CARDONA is on a roll lately, recording hits in 11 of his last 12 games, including a seven-game hitting streak that ended Tuesday. In the 10-game span, Cardona is hitting.333 (16-48) and has taken over the team lead in average (.308) with his recent spurt. HEINEMAN AN ON-BASE MACHINE: After reaching base safely twice on Sunday, outfielder SCOTT HEINEMAN ran his on-base streak to 20 games, having reached at least once in every game he s played so far. The streak is the longest in the Texas League and tied for the fifth-longest active streak in all of Minor League Baseball. CAN T SPELL BOLINGER WITHOUT AN R, B AND I: Infielder/outfielder ROYCE BOLINGER moved into a tie for the team lead in RBIs (13) with his two-out double in the ninth inning Sunday. Bolinger has driven in at least one run in eight of his 15 games this season, including a season-high three RBIs April 19 at Tulsa. ROLLING ON THE ROAD: Despite dropping the last two games, the Riders still have the Texas League s best road record (8-5), winning each of their first three series away from Dr Pepper Ballpark. It s a promising start for a club that went just away from Dr Pepper Ballpark last season. That said, Frisco started 11-2 away from home last year before dropping 39 of the final 55 road contests. A HOME RUN FOR JOSE: Riders catcher JOSE TREVINO had quite the homecoming Friday. Playing his first professional game in his hometown, Trevino homered on the very first pitch he saw and finished the night 2-5. Born and raised in Corpus Christi, Trevino starred at St. John Paul II High School, where he tied the Texas single-season record for homers (25) in his senior season. Trevino played in Corpus Christi during the 2013 and 2014 seasons with Oral Roberts University against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. BELL TO THE BIGS: Former Riders pitcher CHAD BELL is expected to be recalled by the Detroit Tigers today, seeking his Major League debut. Bell pitched with the RoughRiders during the 2012 and 2015 campaigns, combining for a 9-15 record and a 4.13 ERA in 40 outings. Bell began last year with Triple-A Round Rock before being traded to the Tigers on May 3 for catcher BOBBY WILSON. upcoming pitching probables LONGEST ACTIVE ON-BASE STREAKS IN MiLB Rhys Hoskins (Lehigh Valley) 22 DJ Peters (Rancho Cucamonga) Jake Cronenworth (Charlotte) 21 Austin Hays (Frederick) Scott Heineman (Frisco) 20 Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (Lansing) 20 Wade Hinkle (Lakeland) 20 Kevin Kramer (Altoona) DATE TIME OPPONENT RIDERS STARTER OPPOSING STARTER 5/2 7:05 p.m. vs. San Antonio RHP Collin Wiles (3-0, 3.00 ERA) RHP Kyle Lloyd (2-3, 5.40 ERA) 5/3 7:05 p.m. vs. San Antonio RHP Connor Sadzeck (2-1, 4.43 ERA) TBA 5/4 7:05 p.m. vs. San Antonio RHP Ariel Jurado (1-3, 6.41 ERA) RHP Michael Kelly (1-1, 4.56 ERA) 5/5 7:05 p.m. vs. San Antonio LHP Yohander Mendez (1-1, 3.56 ERA) RHP Enyel De Los Santos (1-0, 5.32 ERA) team stats (tl rank) RIDERS HOOKS.253 (5th) AVERAGE.250 (7th) 4.7 (3rd) RUNS/GM 4.9 (2nd) 8.9 (5th) HITS/GM 8.5 (6th) 38 (T4th) DOUBLES 38 (T4th) 1 (8th) TRIPLES 3 (T5th) 17 (T5th) HOME RUNS 26 (1st) 68 (6th) WALKS 95 (2nd) 21 (3rd) SB 27 (1st) 4.21 (6th) ERA 4.14 (5th) 8.8 (2nd) K/9 INN. 8.5 (4th) 3.4 (4th) BB/9 INN. 3.1 (2nd) 20 (5th) ERRORS 27 (T7th) record through 23 games Best record...(2016) Worst record...
