1 2017 Hardwood Cross O-Cup #3 Sunday October 8 at Hardwood Ski and Bike Course Details For 2017 the course will be similar to the one that was used for the 2014 Provincial Championships which used a number of the features from the 2015 Pan Am Games Mtb course. The course is a mix of grass, sand, hard-pack dirt, and double track ski trails. There is 37 meters of climb each lap with one flat barrier and one run up per lap. There are two flyovers and a sand pit. The course combines all of the elements of a great cyclo-cross course including a couple of off camber sections, plenty of turns as well as faster sections. It will test the skills of all levels of riders. 2 Registration Pre-registration is available through the OCA website until Thursday October 5 at 11:59 pm. There will be no registrations accepted on site until Sunday October 8 th at 8:30 am. No one day permits will be available for purchase. All racers require a UCI license or an OCA Citizen Permit Registration/Sign in/number Pick up will be in the Main Chalet at Hardwood Ski and Bike starting at 8:30am on Sunday October 8 th. Licences M3, E4, SS, all U17 and below, and U19 women and Masters women events require UCI license or OCA Citizen Permit. E1/2, E3, U23, U19, Elite Women, M1, M2 events require a UCI license. Licenses/Permits must be presented at sign- in. US Domestic Licenses will no longer be accepted at any Ontario events. US riders will require a UCI international license to participate in any Ontario events. All foreign licensed riders other than US riders must produce a letter of permission from their country s federation. Prizes and Awards All riders are eligible for draw prizes courtesy of Hardwood Ski and Bike. There are medals for the top 3 in each category. There are cash prizes for the top 3 in elite men and women. Amount will be dependent on the number of riders. Awards will take place at the podiums in front of the chalet. First Aid There will be first aid on site that is located in the Jackrabbit hutch the small brown building just north of the main lodge. Please report any injuries to marshals or to the First Aid hut. Bike Wash There is a bike wash just beside the main chalet. There are no indoor showers available for riders. Café and Retail/Repair Shop The café will be open at 8 am with a great selection of cold and hot foods. The retail shop will be open at 9 am and there will be a mechanic on duty for any bike repairs. Event Rules The races will be governed by the current UCI rules for cyclo-cross as amended by the CCA. Call-ups will be based on the top 5 in the O-Cup standings. The UCI penalty scale with CCA/OCA modifications will be used for any infractions. Races will start promptly at their indicated start times. There will NOT be a team managers meeting. No one may warm up on the course once a race has started. Feeding: In the event of warm weather conditions (above 20 C) the commissaires panel may decide to allow feeding. If feeding is allowed it will take place in the pit lane. Under those conditions, feeding is not allowed during the first 2 and the last 2 laps. There will be one double equipment pit. There is no neutral service provided. Riders must supply their own spare wheels or bicycles. All service must take place in one of the equipment pits. In the event of a mishap, equipment changes must be carried out within the confines of the pit lane. Riders may change wheels or bikes in pit. Outside mechanical assistance can only occur in the pit. A rider may use the pit lane only in the event of a change of bicycle or wheel, or for feeding as described above. Riders may not ride through the pit lane without stopping. A rider who passes the end of the pit must continue to the following pit to change the bicycle or wheel. Any rider who is in the racing lane and has not gone past the end of the pit lane may enter the pit

3 area as long as they re-trace their route in the racing lane and enter the pit at its start without obstructing other competitors. This is the only place on the course that a rider may go backwards on the course. The exchange of equipment between riders shall be forbidden. Any rider dropping out of the race shall immediately notify a commissaire. Lapped riders may be pulled from the race at the discretion of the commissaires. The ringing of a bell will indicate the last lap. All riders will finish on the same lap as the winner. Lapped riders will complete fewer laps than the winner and are not to complete additional laps. Riders may not use any form of radio communication while competing. The use of personal music players (ipod, Mp3, etc.) are not permitted while racing or warming up on the course. Equipment Rules The use of mountain bikes, or bikes with flat handlebars (provided bar ends are removed) is permitted in all categories except Elite 1/2 Men and Master 1 Men. A traditional cyclocross-style bike with drop handlebars must be used in these categories. Riders are required to wear jerseys corresponding with the club or team printed on their license. Independent riders are required to wear a plain jersey with no significant logos, team names or advertising displayed on them. Sleeveless jerseys are not permitted. Two-way radios are reserved for race organization only. The use of radio links or other remote means of communication with the riders is forbidden. At all times when warming up or participating in the event, riders who are mounted on a bicycle shall wear a securely fastened helmet.
