3 Round 2 Warwick 1 st July Stage One: Prologue Program The prologue is intended to be a short, hard, and fast race against the clock. Starting at one minute intervals, the QRTS women will go first followed by the QRTS Men, then Darling Downs Cycling Club members. A decision has been made based on your feedback: no TT bikes and no clip on handle bars are allowed, but TT helmets and disk wheels are permitted. The complications with local traffic have been resolved, but racing needs to start as late in the morning as possible to avoid the extremely heavy Saturday shopping traffic in the CBD. Without knowing your final roster and number of riders, the first race will start no earlier than 10.30am. We all need to be patient as we are racing across State roads and we have needed to build a major detour around Warwick CBD to connect highways from Toowoomba, Goodiwindi and Brisbane. A huge thank you to Council, TMR and Police for working with us. Riders must be aware of the crossing of traffic on Victoria Street as well as the use of the football fields on Park Rd and Jackie Howe Drive. This year, all team tents are to be set up on the grass beside the start/finish line in Leslie Park, not in the car parks on Albert Street. This is to avoid upsetting local shoppers. 4 Round 2 Warwick 1 st July Stage Two: Criterium Program The criterium is set on wide local roads amongst residential properties and parks. Most roads have car parking lanes both sides and riders must only use the central vehicle lanes. The start time for the community ride (30mins) is estimated to be 2.00pm, followed by QRTS Women (35mins + 2 laps), followed by the Darling Downs Club race (40mins + 2 laps) and then the QRTS Men (60mins + 2 laps). *The original model of heats for men has been argued against by many team managers, this has resulted with heats and finals cancelled. **We cannot confirm exact start times until you supply your riders for the start list. Already we have two additional wild card men teams, and 10 individual women riders. All team tents are to set up on the grass beside the start/finish line not in the car parks on Albert Street to avoid upsetting local shoppers. 10 Round 2 Warwick 2 nd July Stage Three: Road Race Program We warmly welcome the Masters to join us for Sunday s road race for the first time. The road race is based in the lovely community of Yangan. Starting from the Hotel, the course is set on a 40km loop with two sprints and one QOM/KOM. Teams and tents are to be set along the finish at the hotel. With regards to the race convoys, we have staggered the starts to minimize resources and to present the local community with exciting racing.
