1 Public Affairs Report Flotilla 6-10 November 2014 PATROL - 04 October The Santa Cruz Wharf celebrated its 100th Anniversary and put on a Fireworks display that was second to none! PATROL - 04 October (Cont.) The Fireworks show was launched from the Main Beach directly in front of the Boardwalk. Aux facilities & provided safety zone coverage at the request of CG Station Monterey. "474" on patrol near the Pt. Santa Cruz Lighthouse prior to the "Fireworks patrol".

2 FLOTILLA MEETING - 07 October FLEET WEEK October Several members of Flotilla 6-10 participated in Fleet Week activities on San Francisco Bay. Last year there was no Fleet Week due to the Federal government shutdown, however, this year featured a full slate including the Blue Angels! The Flotilla Meeting was well attended but it can be lonely at the top especially when the VFC is on vacation in Hawaii! Lynda Dossett, FC, presides over the packed house! Coxswain Linda Vetter pilots the SILVER CHARM with yours truly "riding radio". Lynda Dossett & Wally Smith also crewed on the SILVER CHARM. Above, DCAPT Wally Smith presents Lynda Dossett & Scott Richert with Membership Service Awards in recognition of their five year membership anniversary. The meeting was highlighted by the election of Mike Badano as Flotilla Commander and Steve Daley as Vice Flotilla Commander for 2015! Well done Mike and Steve and thanks for stepping up to the challenge! Ross Adams got a ride worth remembering on the 87' Cutter TERN. He was one of a few invited guests who experienced Fleet Week on that platform and got to watch the crew in action!

3 PATROL - 11 October PATROL - 11 October (Cont.) Fireworks returned to Capitola this year thanks to the Monte Foundation! This year the show was launched from the Capitola Pier. Aux facilities & provided safety zone support at the request of CG Station Monterey. Scott & Colleen Richert enjoyed the evening aboard their vessel SEA DREAMER. 4 SAFETY PRESENTATION - 18 October At the request of the Commodore of the Richmond Yacht Club, CAPT Greg Stump, C.O. Sector SF, and DCAPT Wally Smith gave a safety presentation to approximately 50 attendees at the Pacific Inter Yacht Club Association. The highlight of the presentation was the Question & Answer segment where CAPT Stump and DCAPT Smith were questioned re the relationship between the active duty and the Auxiliary. CAPT Stump had nothing but the highest praise for the Auxiliary and said that the Coast Guard could not be nearly as effective without the Auxiliary's support! PATROL - 19 October It was a routine "MOM" (Marine Observation Mission") for Aux vessel Great weather and another view of whales highlighted the day. 5 HAUNTED HARBOR - 25 October Port Director Lisa Ekers invited the Auxiliary to participate in the Santa Cruz Haunted Harbor event that was part of the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Harbor. Two groups of Auxiliarists, one uniformed and one not, took part. PATROL - 26 October The uniformed group provided safety support by standing by on the docks where the FREE RIDE was picking up and dropping off passengers on the Haunted Harbor ferry tour. Flotilla 6-10's newest member, Amanda McDonald at the helm of Aux facility with Flotilla 64 FC and DSO-PA Jerry Edelen to her left. Jane Smith and Jack Sprow stand watch. There were a bunch of Auxiliary members not on official Auxiliary business dressed as Pirates in keeping with the Harbor's theme. This group hung out under the bridge, kind of troll-like and, in addition to saying ARGHHHH a lot, handed out candy to the approximately kids who stopped by! ARGHHHHHH! Amanda listens intently to SO-MT Scott Galloway apparently contemplating the next piece of invaluable information that his is preparing to impart to our young trainee!
