Help me welcome the director of the 2008 Miss Jefferson Parish pageant, Mrs. Shelly Winters Black. Shelly (The director) Good evening and welcome everyone. Welcome to 26th annual Miss Jefferson Parish pageant. I am so pleased that you decided to join us as we celebrate beauty and achievement through the field of pageantry. It's time to meet our fabulous delegates and their opening number and onstage introductions. (Music: Brown Eyed Girl sung by Rockin Dopsie Jr.) Contestant s parade and introductions. Shelly: As our contestants prepare for the swim suit competition let me introduce our mistress of ceremonies -the reigning Miss New Orleans 2008, Hailey Ridgel. (Insert your emcee's BIO) Hailey: Thank you Miss Shelly for inviting me. I'll begin by introducing our distinguished panel of judges. Judge number 1 is (insert Bio) (Repeat process for all judges) (Auditor-side award judge-and judge liaison, which can be a reigning queen) Hailey: Thank you judges for accepting this challenge. Earlier this afternoon these five judges met personally with each of the contestant for the first phase of competition- the interview. This important phase counts for 50% of the total score. The next phase of competition is the swimsuit competition. It counts for 25% of the total score. Judges if you are ready we will begin the swimsuit competition, starting with the teen division. Our first contestant is Michelle Guillot. Michelle is a sophomore at John Ehret High School. Her ambition is to become a hair stylist and own her own salon. The one person she would most like to meet is country singer George Jones. The three words that best describe Michelle are passionate, optimistic, and compassionate. Michelle is five-three, weighs one hundred fifteen pounds. This is your contestant Michelle Guillot.

We have something wonderful entertainment scheduled for you. Introduce the entertainment and have it last for 10 minutes. Hailey: Looks like our contestants are ready to begin the evening gown competition. Judges if you are ready we will start the evening gown competition beginning with the teen division. (Music: generic music) Hailey: Please help me welcome back to the stage Michelle Guillot. Her daily philosophy is to never look down on anybody unless you are helping him up. Michelle believes her best asset is her ability to make people feel comfortable and to make them smile. She is being sponsored by Pontchartrain Marketing. This is contestant number 1, Michelle Guillot. (Use same format for the rest of the division) (Follow suit with the other division) Hailey: That concludes the last phase of competition for this evening. (Hailey exits the stage and Shelly enters) Shelly: As our auditor is calculating the scores we will introduce the visiting royalty. (Shelly uses the visiting queen paperwork to introduce the queens and encourage them to talk about their titles, and promote their pageants. This usually takes about 10 minutes.) (Shelly introduces the 2007 royalty-each queen gives their going away speech- and director queen exchange gifts. Director presents Queen with a bouquet of roses as they take their farewell walk. This usually takes 10 minutes. The total of the two events give the auditor 20 minutes. You are now ready to crown the royalty. Special awards presentation is next...) Shelly: The first special award is our congeniality award. This award is sponsored by pageantry magazine and is called the Pageantry Spirit Award. This award is voted on by all the delegates. This award honors those who exemplify the true spirit of competition. The Spirit award promotes friendship, sponsorship and character development. The 2008 pageantry award spirit award goes Michelle Guillot. Congratulations.

11 Our next special award is the Director's award. This award is given to the contestant that promotes the pageant and helps out her fellow delegates in n preparation for the pageant. And this award goes to Michelle Guillot again. And now the people's choice award. This award is voted by the audience for the contestant they came to cheer on. The lucky girls name is... Beth Macaluso. (Hailey joins Shelly at the podium) Hailey: And now, finally the moment has come to crown our new 2008 Miss Jefferson Parish queens. We will begin with the teen division. This triple header, with months of preparation, brings all here on the Glorious Day in Pageantry. The Metairie Pageant celebrates 23 years of Excellence, The Miss. La. American Dream is on it s 2 nd year The National organization works hard to promote women in a Healthy & Inspiring manner So they may all reach their goals and assist them in development of their Individuality! My Dear and late friend ( Debra Freeman Balsamo) asked for my assistance in directing the Miss. Louisiana Plus America pageant for full figured women that promotes Beauty in All sizes and assist women to reach their fullest potential through the field of Pageantry! Mrs. Black has over 16 years experience in the field of Pageantry. She has held competitive titles at the state and local level. She has coached, inspired, and prepared 3 national title holders. Her girls have an impressive winning record at the state and local level with consistency attaining top ten statuses at national competitions. In addition to her experience with pageantry she also has over 25 years experience in the field of cosmetology and is a former salon and boutique owner. She serves as an on location stylist and makeup artist for pageants as well as bridal events and is in association with the film and movie industry. Shelly's work has been featured on E.T. in association with The Miss. Plus America Pageant. She is also the Official Hair Stylist & Make-up Artist to the Miss.
