No idea A few Spicks & Specks (so I m in mourning!), Gruen Transfer, Planet etc and Inspector Rex Magazine Most Inspirational Person? Don t really read magazines Several - one that first comes to mind is Nelson Mandela to go through what he did and emerge to work for reconciliation rather than revenge At a different level, I have also met a few amazing people working with the Aboriginal community. If you could have dinner with anyone (dead or alive) who would it be and why? How did you become involved with horses? How long have you been member of HRCAV? Favourite HRCAV Discipline/s and why? Other Hobbies or Interests a part from horses? Tell us something quirky about you? Any thing else you would like to say? Probably Nelson Mandela (for all of the above reasons plus I doubt he will be around for much longer). I was brainwashed by my mother. It took till I was about eight to take effect, but it stuck. Not sure probably about 15 years Dressage (although I wouldn t mind trying Navigational Rides) I am totally over showing and the other options involve jumping. Travel, reading, learnt Latin dancing for a while and it was great fun but I was no good at it, cryptic crosswords Nothing I d share Don t ever ask me to do one of these again!

4 Page 4 KDARC Monthly Members Newsletter Presidents Update Thank you to all who attended the AGM last month. Our committee has a new face, Samantha Forrest, for next 12 months as an Ordinary Committee member with newsletter responsibilities, and Nicky Goodson has returned as Vice President. Thank you to Vanessa who undertook the task of the newsletter for past 12 months. All members are welcome to our monthly committee meetings and are encouraged to provide the committee with your thoughts on how the club is running. There is not much to report this month on the new clubroom. It is still ongoing as the background permits take time to obtain. Please remember our club Dressage competition on Sunday 8 January. We need all members to help out even if it is just for half a day. Welcome to our new members also. And finally I would like to wish all members a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! Murray Robertson Secretary Update A friendly reminder the end of the HRCAV membership has concluded for Please remember your membership expired on 31 October You can not ride at a rally or participate at any HRCAV events if you are not financial. Memberships can be paid at a rally or by post. Please bring/include your membership card along so it can be stamped and validated. Both these forms will need to be completed and handed in before cards can be validated. My new e- mail address is garthowan@hotkey.net.au It is great to see our members our and about now the weather has been kind to us. With all the grass around the ponies all need the exercise too! Thank you to members who are sending results and photos in, this makes my job of compiling the newsletter a lot easier. The end of the year is fast approaching and we are well on the way to getting our dressage competition organised don t forget to put your entries in if planning to ride and offer your help on the day. I'll try to include educational information in our newsletters. As most of these are produced by companies promoting their products they generally have some sort of reference to these products in the article. These articles are to highlight different health needs etc and get owners thinking about different issues that can arise. If you are not sure about your horse always consult your vet. If members are wanting to sell any items, horse related or not, we will have a classifieds page too. Deadlines for KDARC newsletter is 15th of each month. Happy reading ~Samantha

5 Page 5 Rally Update Our November rally saw 10 riders. This is our maximum number to have individual lessons of 45 mins, which many members and instructors prefer. The BBQ lunch is proving to be a popular way to feed us hungry riders. It is good to see other members come along to support the club, even if they are not riding on the day. Our December rally will be brought forward a week on the 3 December and will be held at our club grounds Rollinson Reserve unless weather dictates otherwise and our instructor will be Shanon Mc Kimmie. Rally Costs: $30 if outdoors (indoors $40). Can you please ensure that if you want to ride I have your name down by 12 noon on Tuesday 29 November. If you are riding new horse or have not been to a rally in sometime please let me know what level as a combination you are riding at so I can match people up. Rally bookings can be made by phone or debswanwick@hotmail.com Thanks ~Debbie Fundraising ideas sought from members Fundraising Have your ever thought of helping our club out with a fundraising activity? It might be a raffle, games night, trivia night, auction night, BBQ s/ Sausage Sizzle, chocolate drive. Can you think of something else? With the planning well under way for the building of new facilites at our club grounds any extra funds might just mean something we can purchase to make life easier. So if you have an idea and you would like to take the task on please contact Murray our President or Lyn our Treasurer. This is so the idea can be minuted at the committee meeting and necessary approval given. We are sure there are some members out there with a flair for organising things! TTT Dressage and Our TTT Dressage Team came 63rd. Barb Canning riding Canbaren Park Minuet Level 4 3rd and 16th placing. Lisa Thomas riding Summerzar Rhombus Level 2 10th and 14th placing. Kate Parker riding Illawong Harvest Moon Level 2 4th and 7th placing and 4th in Level Two Jackpot Well done to all who represented our club and flew the KDARC banner!!! Once again thank you to Carol Thomas, Lisa's mum, for being the team volunteer. Cheers Vanessa Kyneton Agricultural Show Been and Gone The Official HRCAV ring at the Kyneton Show was reasonably successful despite a very bleak weather forecast. There were 25 HRCAV members who came along to ride. Unfortunately the mild pleasant morning turned disgusting about a.m. with heavy rain and thunder. Despite this difficult scenario the judging was completed and by about 1.30 p.m. it was all finished. And so was the rain. At least until late in the afternoon when it returned with a vengeance. We banked over $800- from the day so it can be considered a success. Thanks to all those of our member who assisted on the day and thanks also to those members who braved the weather to ride. Nicky

Pony Club Please note as per the agreement between both our committee and the Pony Club Committee, Pony Club use our arena for the kids on leads from 9am to 12noon. This in only on Pony Club days which is the first Sunday of each month. A reminder to members you are more than welcome to use the club grounds anytime as long as it has not been booked by Pony Club or on Pony Club day. Our riders club arena is available for use every day. Members wanting a key need to contact Lyn or lynkeyse@westnet.com.au Club Dressage Competition As mentioned in our last two newsletter planning is well under way for our club Dressage Day to be held 8 January It is important we are organised for this event well ahead of time given Christmas is some where between now and the competition. Samantha has assisted me in getting judges booked, which is not easy task. We have sent out sponsorship request letters and to date have had four replies favorably. This still means we need four more sponsors. Members Help Required This is our clubs major fundraiser and it is expected that all members will contribute in some way. This can be assisting on the day in the office, supplying food, organizing a raffle, arranging sponsors. A volunteer roster will be drawn up for the day and you will be contacted to see how you would like to help on the day. The day commences at 8am and will run till 5pm. You don t have to assist all day even just half a day is great if that is all the time you can spare. Please have a think about how you can best offer your help for this event. Even if you plan to ride we will take this into account when allocating time and volunteer roles. 7 Page 7 KDARC Monthly Members Newsletter TTT Showing There has been some expressions of interest for the club to have a team at TTT Showing. If you are interested please see details below. To be held at Geelong Showgrounds 14 and 15 January 2012 We will request our team rides on the Saturday as that is the only day level one is being ran. Be Part of the TTT Showing Team Please contact Barb Canning by 2 December. This will allow ample time to ensure entries are completed and submitted by the closing date or barbaracanning@hotmail.com Member Thoughts on Club Logo A brief discussion was held at AGM regarding the club logo after feedback was sought in last newsletter. Lyn still has quite a few badges left of the current logo that can be sewn on to garments if members prefer that option they are $10. Some members preferred the revised logo with new rider and the club name in full. In addition to this some members preferred to have the logo embroided directly on to items. It was noted the club only registers club colours with HRCAV and as long as you can be recognised when competing members could choose what logo to have. Dressage Tests: Levels 1 5 Tests B & D; Advanced A1 & A2 HRCAV RULES AND REGULATIONS APPLY Current validated HRCAV performance/membership cards to be presented to Secretary s Office.. Entry fees must accompany the entry form. There will be no refund for scratchings after entry closing date unless vet/doctor s certificate is presented within 7 days of the event. Each competitor is required to gear check 15 minutes prior to test. Entries will be taken in order of receipt. The KDARC reserves the right to cancel or alter any section at the Committee s discretion. KDARC shall not accept any liability or responsibility for any accident, damage or injury, suffered by any competitor, person or themselves as a result of attending this event.
