Continued 8 COMPETITOR LIST - TEAMS 9 OFFICIALS LIST 10 PRESIDENT S WELCOME It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all, on behalf of the South Island Ice Skating Sub Association (SIISSA) Committee, to the 2017 South Island Ice Figure Skating Championships. It s been a real pleasure to be a part of this Committee as the members have been so ready to contribute and take on the various tasks that help ensure the competition is a success. I would like to take this opportunity to offer a special thanks to the officials who have given up their time to officiate, and to the many volunteers who have taken on various tasks over the 3 days of the competition. Without their help we wouldn t be able to run this competition. We are extremely fortunate that we have people who give so generously of their time. Among our members we have a select few that have been recognised as Life Members for their long term contribution to the SIISSA. Last week, very sadly, one of our Life Members, John Harrington, passed away. Our thoughts are with John s wife, Elva-Jean, and family. Without competitors, we don t have a competition. This is a very technically demanding and physically challenging sport, and I would like to acknowledge all our competitors for the hard work and training they have put in just to get here. Thank you also to the coaches for the key role they play and to the families for the support they provide. We re looking forward to seeing great skating during this competition and trust that after all their hard work and training our competitors have a great skate and come away having achieved a personal best.
