2 2010 PROVINCIAL PARTICIPATION GAMES FINALS La Pocatière FSC Sanction P March 5 7, 2010 Announcement: The Fédération de patinage artistique du Québec is pleased to announce the 2010 Participation Games Finals. This competition is sanctioned by Skate Canada and will be held in accordance with the rules of this Association (7000) (B) (1.16). Host : Organizing Committee: Rinks to be used: La Pocatière FSC Competition Manager : Organizing Committee Chairperson : Coordinator : Centre Bombardier 600, 9 Street La Pocatière, QC G0R 1Z0 Denis Beaudoin Céline Corriveau Diane Choquet dchoquet@patinage.qc.ca # 3541 Ice surface : Size: 85 X 200 General Information: The 2010 Participation Games Finals will be held in accordance with the rules of Skate Canada, including every Skate Canada communiqué related thereto. Refer to sections 7000 and Deadline for test : Deadline for test is January 1, preceding the event. Entry date : Registration forms are to be completed and sent by ALL REGIONS by February 2, 2010, 4 pm. (Please sent us one form per entry) To : Fédération de Patinage artistique du Québec 4545, Pierre-de Coubertin PO Box 1000, Station M Montréal (Québec) H1V 3R2 Entry fees : $ 100 Singles / Dance / Pairs / Special Olympics * Payment by check or money order ONLY made out to Fédération de patinage artistique du Québec Checks dated after February 2, 2010 will not be accepted. Entry fees shall be refunded only if the competition is not held or if the entry is withdrawn before the date of closing of entries (7000) (B) (1.5) (1) (2). Participation Games
3 Music: The audio cassettes are not accepted. Each skater or couple will have to provide two (2) compact disks CDR (and not CD-RW) at the registration table at least one (1) hour before the beginning of his competition. There must be only one program by disc (on a single track) and it must be engraved in audio mode, mp3 will not be accepted. The name of the competitor, the category as well as the exact duration of the music must be indicated clearly. The discs must be presented in their protective cases. Clean your discs well and ensure that it is not scratched in order to avoid any problem of reading. For all questions concerning music, write to info@studiounisons.com. Results: The system Code by Cumulating Points will be used to determine the result for all categories at the exception of the Special Olympics categories. No open mark will be announced during this competition. Posting of results will be done with the version produced by CCP : Basic principles of calculation : 4. Publication of Results b) Following each segment the Total Technical Score, the Program Component Score, the deductions and the Total Segment Score of every competitor must be published. Awards: Medals will be awarded to the top three places in each event. In the case of only two entries, each entry shall be awarded a medal (7000) (B) (1.13). Admission: Adult entry $ 8 / day Weekend Pass : $ 20 Children entry $ 5 / day Weekend Pass : $ 12 At registration, only the competitor will receive a pass for the weekend. A certified coach according to rules ( must have the official photo I.D. card ) will be admitted free (Compulsory). Regional Eliminations: Each region must hold a competition to select its team for the Quebec Participation Games Finals. The skater's home club determines the region where he/she will compete. In the case of skaters competing in pair or dance who are from home clubs of different regions, the skaters must advise the region where they want to compete as well as the other region where they will not. If a skater wishes to compete in both singles and pair or dance, he can do so only if he represents the same region in both categories. A skater cannot represent his region in both pair and dance. Categories must be those of the Participation Games Finals. Regional Team Composition: Maximum : 8 entries Competitive categories 4 entries Special olympics The regional team must include 8 entries in the competitive categories and 4 entries for the Special Olympics categories with a maximum of 14 skaters (a single skater is an entry and a pair or dance couple is an entry). Immediately after completion of the schedule of regional competition, the technical representative determines the regional team composition as follows: Participation Games
4 a) The Gold Medallists (or in case of withdrawal the silver medallist only) of the 8 categories of the Regional Québec Games finales. If there is only one entry in a given event, the skater must skate an exhibition program to be eligible to the Provincial Participation Games Finals. b) In case of non-participation in one or more categories at the regional final competition, the team will be completed by selecting: 1) The second place of categories A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, in order until the team is complete with a maximum of three entries per category; 2) In case of a tie in the preceding paragraph and within a category, skaters will skate one more time on the same day; 3) For the categories I, J, K, L, M, N, of the Special Olympics : refer to the grid in the section Special Olympics. c) Substitutions will be accepted until the start of the competition. d) Pre-novice and Novice skaters, members of the Quebec Team, are not eligible in the category in which they competed at the qualifications rounds and the Junior National Championships, but they will be able to compete in a higher category if the test is completed. e) No skater may register in more than one category in singles. f) Pre-novice and Novice long programs only will be skated. In the Juvenile dance category, only the free dance will be skated. Please note : Programs are those of the Official Competitions. Please refer to Technical Package on the Skate Canada WEB Site PRACTICE ICE: Upon registration or attendance at an officially scheduled practice session competitors are not permitted to skate on ice other than the official practice or competition ice as scheduled for the event. Violators of this rule shall be subject to suspension from the competition in question. NOVICE LADIES AND MEN Age restrictions : Novice competitive singles test Must not have reach the age of 17 by July 1, preceding the competition A. Ladies: 3 minutes +/- 10 sec. program skated to music. D. Men: 3 minutes and 30 seconds +/- 10 sec. program skated to music. PRE-NOVICE LADIES AND MEN Age restrictions : Pre-novice competitive singles test. Must not have reach the age of 15 by July 1, preceding the competition B. Ladies: 3 minutes +/- 10 sec. program skated to music. E. Men: 3 minutes +/- 10 sec. program skated to music. Participation Games
6 JUVENILE LADIES AND MEN Age restrictions : Juvenile competitive singles test. The competitors shall be under the age of 12 (Ladies) and 13 (Men) as of July 1, preceding the competition. C. Ladies: 2 minutes and 30 seconds +/- 10 sec. program skated to music. F. Men: 2 minutes and 30 seconds +/- 10 sec. program skated to music. JUVENILE PAIR Age restriction : Juvenile competitive pairs test. No age restriction G. Pairs: 2 minutes and 30 seconds +/- 10 sec. program skated to music. JUVENILE DANCE Age restriction : Must have passed the complete Junior bronze dance test. No age restriction H. Free Dance : 2 minutes +/- 10 seconds 1) Rules SPECIAL OLYMPICS The Official Canadian Special Olympics Sports Rules shall govern all CSO Figure Skating Competitions (September 2009 version). 2) Eligibility All athletes registered at the Special Olympics Games. The new athletes and clubs will be able to register before the competition with QSOG at (514) No fee is required to register at the Quebec Special Olympics Games. A minimum of one participant is obligatory in the category of Special Olympics at the regional finale 2010 in order to make these categories eligible to the finale ) Categories Participants : Categories : Events : Coaches : 4 athletes per region 21 years old and under by January 1 preceding the competition Free program Levels 1, 2, 3 Ladies and Men 2 Coaches per regions (1 man and 1 woman or 2 women if skaters are all ladies) One coach must be certified level 1 and both coaches must be certified Special Olympics Level 1. LEVEL 1 Eligibility: A Skater competing in Level 1 must be working on Can Skate Stage 2 and/or Stage 3. The freeskate program will not exceed a time limit of one minute plus or minus 10 seconds. The music will be instrumental. The program must be well balanced and include: Four (4) out of Six (6) Can Skate fundamental movements from Stage 1 through Stage 3 Maximum of 2 jumps Maximum of 2 spins Field Moves (element in the field) are allowed i.e. spread eagles, lunges/drags and pivots. No Fundamental Movements above Stage 3 or Challenge Skills from any Stage are to be included in the program. Points will be awarded only for Stage 1-3 Fundamental Movements. I : Ladies : J : Men : 1 minute +/- 10 sec. program skated to music. 1 minute +/- 10 sec. program skated to music. LEVEL 2 Eligibility: A Skater competing in Level 2 must working on Can Skate Stage 4 and/or Stage 5. The Level 2 Freeskate program will not exceed a time limit of 1 minute 30 seconds plus or minus 10 seconds. The music will be instrumental. The program must be well balanced and include Fundamental Movements from Can Skate Stage 1 through 5 Must include 4 of 6 Fundamental Movements from Can Skate Stage 4 and 5. Choice of Challenge skills from Stages 1 through 3 may also be included. Note: A two (2) foot jump back and forth with no step in between would be considered a combination jump (1 element), if a step is put in between it would be considered two (2) jumps. (single Bunny Hop is a jump, Bunny Hop Bunny Hop is considered a combination jump) No Fundamental Movements above Stage 5 or Challenge Skills above Stage 3 are to be included in the program. The regional team will be composed of 4 athletes with the best regional finals results and selected as follow : Will be selected in priority 2 female athletes and 2 male athletes by alternating the levels of skill and by granting precedence at the highest level of skill. The grid which follows illustrates the process of regional selection according to levels' represented within the regional finale.
