Fisher Cats 2018!! By Jim Loiselle- EndZone Editor - jim.loiselle@lyfs.org Over 120 Wildcats attended our annual trip to the Fisher Cats to see our Wildcat cheerleaders perform a pre-game show, watch a baseball game and see some fireworks. No better way to end summer training camp. We hope everyone had a great time.

Everyone Loves a Parade and then Some By A.J. Perkins- EndZone Social Page Editor - endzone@lyfs.org What a busy Old Home Day week the Wildcats had. First on Thursday the Wildcats along with the Londonderry Police Department hosted Movie Night at the Police station showing Cars3. Saturday was the parade and as you can see from the pictures below over 200 Wildcats were a sea of blue marching down Mammoth Road. Our own very fickle mascot Elliott showed up. Elliott even had some time to spend a few minutes with the Governor. I wonder what advise Elliott gave the Governor..? The governor asks, Why isn t everyone a Wildcat? Below Elliott spends some time with our flag team On the Commons our concession managers Jay Twardosky and Shaun Sawyer fed an army and then some. Between Old Home Day and the jamboree our concession stand and all the volunteers ROCKED! We fed thousands and went through a massive amount of food including hundreds of pounds of hand-cut fries, over 500 hamburgers and we ran out of about a million hot dogs. Cases and cases of soda, water, Gatorade quenced the hot summer heat. We even sold out our season supply of cotton candy. Special thanks to the Muffin Man who once again donated hundreds and hundreds of hamburger, hot dog and sausage rolls..

First Contact - 8U Cruises Over Keene By Biff Brockington- EndZone Sports Editor - endzone@lyfs.org Taking the opening kickoff 56 yards Wildcat Colton Boorda (#5) would put Londonderry ahead and the Cats had Keene in their rear-view mirrors for the rest of the game. Keene would have 3 offensive series through 2 quarters In those 3 series Keene would record no first downs and negative yards rushing as the swarming Car defense overwhelmed the Knights. Mixing up the running backs the Wildcats behind #31 Dante Fabiano (20 total yards), #20 Benjamin Williams (23 total yards) and Colton Boorda (getting 20 yards and a TD on 2 carries) would pull Londonderry ahead 12 to 0 to start the second quarter. Left As they did all day the 8U defense would swarm to the ball. Dante Fabiano and Colton Boorda would get the tackle as Ben Williams, #43 Cameron Grassis, #7 Tyler McGrath, #75 Brenner O Loughlin, #98 Brody Morrow, and #80 Christian Cipolletta swarm in On another 4 and out series Keene again would give the ball back to Londonderry and on a 58 yard running play Colton Boorda would push Londonderry ahead 18 to 0. On the ensuing kick-off Keene would fumble to give the ball back again to Londonderry. Dante Fabiano weaving his way first right then left stiff armed his way 44 yards for the Londonderry 24 to 0 lead. The one bright spot for Keene came near the end of the 2 nd quarter. Keene would take the ball down 46 yards fumbling the ball on the 1 yard line with Wildcat #1 Odin Delorey recovering the ball. With a minute to go in the half Londonderry would hold off Keene. Londonderry would recover the badly handled Keene kick-off coverage and start again where they left off to end the first half. Behind #78 Anthony Cipolletta and Dante Fabiano the Cats would get their final score and the 30 to 0 lop-sided victory over the Knights of Keene. Below Flag-Black goes up against the Salem Rams

Whats an MPR? By Hector Ortiz Football Director - Hector.Ortiz@lyfs.org Every football player plays in every game. AYF tackle football (Wildcat 8U through 13U) at its heart remains an educational and instructional program. Yes, of course scores are kept and wins are tracked but that s not the only thing we keep track of in AYF football. MPR or Minimum Play Rule is a fundamental method for ensuring that every player gets to play in every game. We do this by counting the plays every football player is involved in until that player meets the minimum play requirement. You may have seen this on the volunteer sign-up sheets each week. For every game (home and away) we need 2 MPR volunteers. One volunteer goes on the opponents side line and with a formatted sheet keeps track of the plays each player gets until that player meets the minimum requirement. They don t do this alone. An MPR person from the other team is watching and assisting. On our side of the field it s just the opposite. An MPR volunteer from the other team keeps track of the plays for each Wildcat player. The Wildcat MPR person on our side of the field watches and helps the other teams MPR volunteer. This trust but verify method keeps it fair and equal as both teams watch what each other is doing related to MPRs. With MPRs in play this requires some additional strategy from coaches. Each coach has their own style of managing to the MPR rule and making sure players get playing time. One old-time coach once told me he preferred to manage MPRs on the offensive side of the ball. As he remarked, if the offense makes a mistake they give up the ball. If the defense makes a mistake they give up a touchdown. Many coaches will run their MPR players first. This is critical as all MPRs must be completed by the start of the 4th quarter. The game referees will actually ask the head coaches at the start of the 4th quarter if they have met their MPRs. If teams have not met their MPR requirement by the 4th quarter they MUST play kids on every down until they have completed their MPRs. Do all plays count for MPRs? YES, all plays count, all kicking plays and point after TD runs/kicks do count as MPR plays. Plays that end with a penalty assessed are not counted as MPR plays. What happens if a team does not meet their MPR requirement? Well first that should never happen. It is the responsibility of the head coaches to make sure the rules are followed. If at the end of the day a team has not met the MPR rule, this is forwarded to the state governing board for disciplinary action that includes fines and game-suspensions for coaches. So what are the minimum number of plays required. Well, that depends on the teams size, as in the number of players on the day of the game. (NH requires more MPRs than national or regional AYF) 31 to 36 players 10 plays 25 to 30 players 12 plays 19 to 24 players 14 plays 13 to 18 players 18 plays So there you have the rule and some points around how coaches manage to this important element of AYF football. Any questions at all should be brought to the attention of your head coach. See this link for more information - MPR Back See you at the game.

9U Crushes Concord Capitals By David Daron - EndZone Guest Sports Writer - endzone@lyfs.org The Wildcat teams were all over NH on Sunday from the Sea Coast to Keene and in between. The Wildcat 9U squad along with the D8 cheer squad played in Merrimack against the Concord Capitals. The Wildcats quickly cruised over Concord collecting 5 scores on the way to a 33 to 0 defeat. Offensively Londonderry was led by #89 Jordan Ball and #87 Sully Daron each getting two touchdowns. Dillion Doucette (#13) also scored for Londonderry. On the defense #11 Josh Wheeler made numerous tackles for the Wildcats. Right Top - #89 Jordan Ball gets around the defender. Below - #2 Will Hazzard comes down with the ball and #15 Broch Stgelais stands by to help if needed. Right - #87 Sully Daron goes back for the pass and bottom right #11 Josh Wheeler flies in for the tackle Lop-Sided Score Rule Updated 2018 By Kevin McKenzie Football Director - Kevin.McKenzie@lyfs.org Good sportsmanship takes many forms one of them is the AYF lopsided score rule employed by AYF to protect both the players and the integrity of the game. Here are NEW UPDATED for 2018 details of the lopsided score rule from New Hampshire AYF. Section XXII Lopsided Scores - Slaughter Rule: The lopsided score is attained when one team is ahead by 5 TD s or a score of It could be anywhere from 30 0 (if the winning team does not make any conversions) or as high as 40 0 (if winning team makes 5/5 kicks). There could also be safeties or field goals added in, but the rule is designed for a 5 TD lead.

Tone it Down: When the score becomes lopsided, tone it down, horns, sirens, and other noisemakers will cease to exist. Coaches should not stop coaching, but criticism and praise should be muted and restricted to the sidelines. Mid Field Conference: Once the lopsided score is met, the game is stopped for a mandatory conference at mid field between the 2 head coaches and the home field Director in charge. The score is recorded, and this will be the final score of the game. There will be no Kickoffs ball is placed at 40 yard line for team to go 60 yards. The team on the losing side of the lopsided score will determine the remainder of the game and has the following options: A. Running Clock for remainder of game with clock only stopping for injuries or rules questions. B. Keep clock as is in typical games. If choosing this option, the losing coach can ask to begin running clock at any time. If games are running behind start times, the 4th quarter shall be running time TBD by game officials and home field director. All players that have not completed their MPRs at time of lopsided score must immediately be put into the game and kept in the game until minimum plays attained. All turnovers are blown dead (as too difficult for officials to know when not to blow dead and when to let game go based on above). There will be no defensive scoring. 7 10U Runs Over Keene By Oscar Madison - EndZone Sr. Sports Writer - endzone@lyfs.org It was not a good Knight nor morning for the Keene 10U football squad this past Sunday. The Londonderry 10U team ran wild over Keene to dominate in a 33 to 0 lop-sided victory. Keene had 5 offensive possession before the game was decided officially in the 2nd quarter. In those 5 possessions the Wildcats did not allow a single first down and Keene only had 3 plays for positive yardage. Kamron Weeks (#19) lead the defensive onslaught recording 3 solo tackles all for a loss! Kyle Romanek (#78) and Jonah Feliciano (#32) each had 2 solo tackles. Joseph Strong (#52) recorded a fumble recovery that lead to a Wildcat touchdown along with a solo tackle. Rounding out the solid gangtackling defense were Wildcats Brody Labbe (#39), Austin Holmes (#55) and #87 Tyler McKenzie. Above right - #29 Tyler Boudreau with the ball runs right with blockers #78 Kyle Romanek and #19 Kamron Weeks sweeping out front to clear the path The Wildcat offense struck quick on their first two possessions of the game time. The first series saw #55 Aidan Marshall gain 19 yards before Wildcat Weeks scored on a 19 yard counter off the right tackle for the early Wildcat lead. Again in the second quarter Marshall and Weeks would gain easy yards with Kamron Weeks going the final 8 yards for the score (Marshall EP run) and the now 13 to 0 Londonderry lead. The Wildcats would continue to churn up yardage on their next series mid-way through the 2nd quarter Wildcats Anthony Brathwaite (#24) and Jonah Feliciano would each score touchdowns with some help from #88 Nicholas Bishop and Austin Holmes. The final official Wildcat offensive series that made the final lop-sided score of 33 to 0 was powered behind Feliciano, Bishop, Brathwaite and Romanek for the Wildcat victory. Bottom-left - #32 Jonah Feliciano gets the strip-tackle and the ball is fumbled by the Keene back. Bottom-right an alert Joseph Strong #52 flops on the fumble Wildcat ball!!! 8 13U Fights Back From Behind By Oscar Madison - EndZone Sr. Sports Writer - endzone@lyfs.org Falling behind quickly in the 1st quarter the Wildcats scratched their way back in the 3rd quarter to keep it close. A late 4th quarter Keene TD would force the Cats to go 83 yards with under 3 minutes in the game for the potential win. Keene on their home field came out running and quickly took the lead after the Wildcat opening drive stalled. Taking over after a Londonderry punt the Keene back ran 61 yards untouched for the early lead. Then on their next series scoring on short runs to pull ahead 12 to 0. The Cats had an opportunity to cut the lead. Taking the kick-off #21 Nathan Palmer would get 20 yards on the return to the Keene 43. Behind the running of #42 Andrew Kullman and #23 Carmen Raymond Londonderry would move the ball to the Keene 12, but a Wildcat fumble would give the ball back to Keene. The Londonderry defense stepped up and after 3 plays for a loss the Keene punter miss-handled the punt snap. Now being pressured by #90 Nicholas Lemay and #77 Edward Kissell the Keene punter was stopped on the 5. Taking advantage of the defensive stop and the good field position Camren Raymond would make the score Keene 13 Londonderry 6. Right - #23 Camren Raymond with #31 Ryan Pemberton and #7 Kyle McPhail opening the hole - scores Starting the second half strongly Andrew Kullman would take the opening kick-off 73 yards for the quick-hit TD and the Cats would cut the Knights lead to one 13 to 12. Momentum began to change in the 3nd quarter and from there the Wildcat defense took charge of the game slowing down the Keene attack. Leading the defense was Nicholas Lemay who recorded a sack and 8 solo tackles 3 for a loss. Kyle McPhail (#7) and #28 Ethan Labbe would each record 4 solo tackles while Cat Edward Kissell would also record 4 solo tackles including a QB sack. Don t see your team story or pictures in the EndZone want to help contact Jim Jim.Loiselle@lyfs.org Rounding out the defensive effort were Cats Nathan Palmer (3 tackles), #31 Ryan Pemberton (2 tackles) and Andrew Kullman, Adding solo tackles for loss were #48 Dylan Wilson and #19 Matthew Ritchey. Kullmans solo tackle came on TD saving stop taking down the Keene back short of the end zone. Left - #77 Edward Kissell gets the solo tackle with #42 Andrew Kullman, #9 Aidan Vererka, and #28 Ethan Labbe closing in for support.

Keene would scrap their way forward scoring with under three minutes to play going ahead 19 to 13. Londonderry would have one more chance to tie the score. Starting back on their own 23 with 2 minutes 36 second remaining Wildcat Carmen Raymond would rush the ball 28 yards out to the 45. Kyle McPhail would follow on a 23 yard run into Keene territory. Kyle, following a Londonderry off-sides penalty, would get the first down to the Keene 26 yard line with 1:21 left in the game. Ethan Labbe would grab a pass compete down to the 15 yard line, now with just 26 seconds remaining. From there Londonderry would take to the air for a final play and chance to tie the game. Keene now in a cover-3 defense would intercept the Wildcat pass in the end zone, and with that hold on to their hard fought 19 to 13 victory over Londonderry. 11 Our Little Hero By Jim Loiselle - EndZone Editor - Jim.Loiselle@lyfs.org Originally published here in the EndZone way back in 2005 we were asked to print it again here below. No football this weekend enjoy the Labor Day holiday and this original poem.go Cats!! The crowd in the stands stood quiet The rain had begun to fall As much as they wanted to deny it their team had just fumbled the ball He waited in the heat of summer and now in the cold of fall the coach finally called his number but his little hands could not hold on to the ball If the ball had gone to Johnny or Roy, or maybe even better yet to Blake But to give the ball to that little boy was clearly they thought, a big mistake A few in the crowd had grimaced A few more even let out a moan But the stern look from the coach they just witnessed told them to leave that boy alone The crowd began to thin now as parents returned to their cars To get a win they didn t know how A victory was not in the stars But wait, hold on the heavy rain and mud caused their opponent to stumble On the very next play a crash, a bang, a thud and the other team too did fumble Hurry - Hurry! - everyone began to shout when the offense took to the field. Go quickly, time was running out With a touchdown the victory would be sealed. The quarterback fell deep Her pass, it took to flight The defense was caught asleep Our little boy was split wide right The ball was thrown low and then it was tipped But this time the little boy would not loosen his grip The cheerleaders began to yell He was well on his way He could feel his mom s pride swell This was to be his big day. He ran so fast could he be dreaming No - No - No - not today All he could hear was the announcer screaming He could (and did) go all the way!!
