Adrian Peterson was the lead rambler, as he rushed for a championship game-record yards and scored three touchdowns. Georgia Southern scored unanswered points in the second quarter in becoming the first team to win five titles. Bennie Cunningham finished with yards and Greg Hill had for Georgia Southern, which finished the season with a - record. The Eagles set a championship-game mark for points and a new record for rushing yards in all playoff games. Adrian Brown scored two touchdowns for Youngstown State and rushed for yards on carries. 9 DIVISION II F o o t b a l l DIVISION II Championship H i g h l i g h t s Tenacious Cats Come Back: Despite trailing by points at halftime and still behind by with three minutes to play in regulation, Northwest Missouri State staged a dramatic rally and outlasted Carson-Newman - in four overtimes to defend its championship December in Florence, Alabama. The game was the longest in terms of the number of extra periods in NCAA football playoff history, surpassing six contests that were extended by three overtimes. Northwest Missouri State's Travis Miles threw a -yard touchdown pass to J.R. Hill in the fourth overtime and the Bearcat defense forced a turnover on Carson-Newman s ensuing possession to cap the comeback. The points scored by the two teams set new records for all Division II playoff games and the all-divisions mark for championship contests. Miles threw five touchdown passes as he completed of attempts for yards. Hill finished with seven receptions for yards as Northwest Missouri State capped a - campaign. Antwon Oliver racked up yards on carries for Carson-Newman, which suffered its first defeat of the season after consecutive wins. Travis Miles tossed five touchdown passes in Northwest Missouri State s wild come-frombehind victory. Chad Johnson threw two touchdown passes to tight end Todd McDevitt and ran for one score as the Lutes ran off unanswered points in a - minute span over three quarters.
