Ulitmately defence was the difference in the wet and blustery conditions. A cagey, opening to the game saw the visitors dominate possession early on. However Warlingham looked collectively comfortable soaking up pressure, forcing errors and gaining turnovers through the outstanding back row trinity of Zack King, John Dowling and David Thornton. A penalty goal each from Atkinson and Reigatians number 10 Collard wasn't keeping the scoreboard operator busy but the intensity was clear. Warlingham began to attack through barnstorming midfield runs from the ever impressive

2 centre Dave Priest and improving prop Lewis Unsworth. On the back of defensive holes created by the big men, the last action of the half saw fly half Brad Saffrey magically unlock the ORs defence. Taking on the line with intent, Saffrey's flat miss pass to the flying Irish fullback Callum McElligott saw the youngster slice straight through the defence and slide under the posts. A touch of quality at a key time. Atkinson converted and gave the hosts a 10 3 lead at the break. Still elated, Warlingham were at it again from the restart. Reigatians ill discipline under ferocious pressure allowed Warlingham to camp deep in the ORs half. The home side kicked for the corner from a penalty and the dynamic Warlingham forwards made their scoring impact. Thornton took the line out 15 metres from the line and the pack executed the perfect rolling maul with Lewis Unsworth plunging over. A simply unstoppable reward for the work of his front five colleagues. With Atkinson's touch line conversion lifting the spirits further, Warlingham were on top. The home side continued to play the conditions well with scrum half Alban Edwards, Saffrey and McElligott kicking effectively for territory and thus controlled the game. Huge defence from Skinner, Priest and Prince in the middle stifled Reigatians. The set piece scrum and line out worked efficiently and Atkinson added another penalty to extend the lead to Reigatians were only able to break Warlingham down after Thornton received a yellow card for a late tackle, making the extra man count immediately with centre Jack Wheeler going over. But the conditions were not a conducive for playing catch up with the wet ball and Warlingham continued to play intelligently and aggressively. Atkinson was able to add a further penalty for infringement at the line out and the game was won. At 23 8, Reigatians did manage a consolation try right at the death from Collard but the referee s final whistle was greeted with cheers from Warlingham supporters and players alike at a job well done. Warlingham captain Zack King said, Old Reigatians is always a huge game for us, to get one over on your local rivals always feels great. Most importantly for us it was an opportunity to build some momentum, this league is so tight that if you can go on a good run you can fly up the table. We know there is still lots to work on and we re certainly not going to get ahead of ourselves. Weybridge will be another tough game next time and we ll need to be at our best to get another win. Head coach Paddy Dennien agreed saying, : 'This was an important win for the team. Not only in the context of the league but also to re enforce that they have the ability to compete and beat any team in this league. We controlled the game for long periods and scored two good tries. I thought we pressurised Old Reigatians well and that appeared to frustrate them and created errors, which we were then able to capitalise on. Credit to them, they played for the full 80 minutes and really came back strong in the last 10. However, we had done enough by then and the guys held on for a deserved win.' Warlingham II XV beat Chobham with Josh Turner scoring a hat trick. No carded fixtures this weekend but we are looking at having a warm up match before the

3 RWC15 final. Details will be sent out as soon as possible cry on now if fancy getting your studs in the mud. RWC15 Final this Saturday will be Antipodean day Plans are afoot to make the most of the World Cup Final taking place in our own back yard. Who knows when it will come back to England. Apart from our own warm up match, we are planning a BBQ, specials on lager, beer and wine We will also be showing the Argentina v South Africa on Friday evening, could our cousins in colour beat the Boks? 10 Volunteer of the month Susan Carter. The minis and juniors have had 3 consecutive Warm up festivals this month and Susan was instrumental in making sure all 3 went smoothly. From preparation, to being in the Control tent making sure teams, coaches, refs, medals, trophies were all in place and generally making the festivals run smoothly. Many thanks Susan for all your time, organisational skills and making the festivals so successful that many teams already want to come back next year. As always...the club does need your help, we have a plenty of day to day jobs that will take just mins, others that need specific skills, like plumbing, electrical and carpentry. If you want to enjoy the facilities and make them better for everyone then please step forward. There is no "somebody" who will do it...it needs a real live club person as you are the club.
