Rolling substitutions are allowed in all league fixtures Schools must adopt the ESBBA guideline on full-court pressure defence for the Under 16 league and half-court pressure defence in the Under 14 league. Teams should not use full-court pressure defence to demoralise teams that are already clearly beaten. As a rough guideline we recommend a point margin as indicating a significant difference in the abilities of the teams; to continue to press in those circumstances serves no purpose, other than demoralise the opposition, to the detriment of the game The first period begins when the ball is legally tapped by a jumper on the jump ball. All other periods begin when the ball touches or is legally touched by a player on the playing court after the throw-in Teams shall exchange baskets for the second half A player shall not remain in the opponents restricted area for more than three consecutive seconds while his team is in control of a live ball in the frontcourt and the game clock is running Whenever a player gains control of a live ball in his backcourt, his team must cause the ball to go into its frontcourt within eight seconds. Whenever a player gains control of a live ball on the playing court, his team must attempt a shot for a field goal within twentyfour seconds Teams shall be entitled to one time-out in each ten minute period (Each time-out shall last one minute). Only a coach or assistant coach has the right to request a time-out A substituted player may replace another player.
