John Hitt s daughter and son-in-law will be doing the honors. The dinner begins around seven. Hello to all, Well for all of you who just couldn't put it together to make the Mirage trip, the six of us had a trip of a lifetime. We made the rather uneventful trip to Rosa Friday night. The weather was a little breezy but nothing major. After trying for the usual possibility of the phantom white sea From the Bridge Bill Chartar bass bite, we made our move to San Miguel Island. Captain Joe definitely worked his magic. We were all limited out on quality rockfish by 9:30 AM. The weather had worked with us and went almost flat calm. With our sacks full of the reds, Joe asked what now guy's? It was a unanimous vote to look for the lings. The weather was right, the current was right, so Joe said lets go to Jurassic Park. Well, I have heard about this spot, but this was my fist visit and boy oh boy did it live up to it's reputation! Joe said let them hit the bottom and start winding. On my first drop I hit bottom, made two winds, and the rod went bendo. A nice 22 pounder. With that in mind we had our limits by 12:50. The club members that made the run were Robert Allen, Stan Young, Don Heim, Ray Hallit, John Hitt and myself. It was definitely a trip to remember. The other eleven anglers from the landing where all super nice. Points went in this order: Bill Charter 1st, Stan Young 2nd, and Ray Hallit took 3rd. All I can say is, if they could all be like this, we would be in heaven. 5 VOLUME 70, NO. 05 Page 5 April Club Meeting WVSC welcomes two new club members joining our ranks at the April meeting. Welcome aboard to Todd Dillmann and Frank Garcia! (need your address / so we can send you the monthly newsletter) Winner of the big door prize, a very nice fishing rod, was new member Todd Dillmann. Beginners luck strikes again! Congratulations Todd, put that stick to good use on an upcoming club trip. And speaking of club trips, our premier multi-day tuna trip needs a lot more people to sign up. At this point we have opened it up to non-club members, but we only have nine bookings so far. Spread the word, this promises to be an outstanding trip! The Constitution leaves H&M landing Thursday the 25th of June, and returns Monday, the 29th. If tuna and yellowtail are among your favorites, this is the trip of the year for you! ~ FISH STORY of the MONTH ~ New Canadian record, a 56 lb. Pike caught on the Winnipeg River. This monster taped in at 56 inches. The bait: a 36 lb. Pike! This guy actually was bringing in a hefty 36 lb. Pike when this bigger one grabbed it right next to the boat. He brought them both into the boat in the same net. It goes to show you that the bigger baits work best on the big fish. (submitted by Hal Haberkamp)
