The Toshiba Classic has become so popular that more than 80,000 fans visit the tournament annually, making this the largest and most exciting sporting event in Orange County every year. With non-stop action, a lively atmosphere, first-class seats and affordable ticket prices, the Toshiba Classic is a great entertainment option for a group of friends, corporate partners and families. Before you make the trip to the course, here are a few key details you will need to know in order to maximize your tournament experience this year. Where to Watch There are several free public grandstands located throughout the course including the first tee and 8th, 9th, 16th greens and the 18th without a doubt, the place to be come Sunday. Another exciting spot is the grandstand behind the driving range (right next to the first tee), where you can watch the pros tune up for their rounds. While walking the course, be sure to stop at Fuzzy s Vodka Bar & Grill between the 10th and 18th fairways. It is the perfect place to sip specialty Fuzzy s Vodka drinks and enjoy barbeque with great views of the tournament action. In addition, Toshiba TVs will carry all the NCAA tournament action so you don t miss a thing! Buying Tickets One of the hallmarks of the Toshiba Classic is its great value. Few other sporting events can compare to the tournament s front-row views and intimate player settings. The $20 advanced-purchase price for any one-day ticket allows you to walk the course virtually next to the golfers. The Toshiba Classic can serve as a great excuse to play hooky from work or make for a great weekend. You can purchase tickets four different ways: 1. Visit the tournament s website, 2. Call the tournament office at Buy a ticket at the tournament gates on the day you want to attend (tickets purchased at the gate are $25) 4. Visit select Orange County Roger Dunn Golf Shops (Santa Ana, Mission Viejo and Seal Beach locations) Weeklong patron badges, providing admission to the grounds and clubhouse all seven days of tournament week, are only $100. (The Clubhouse will be closed to all badge holders on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday of Tournament Week). Toshiba Classic Focuses on the Community T oshiba Classic Scholarship Fund Over the past 19 years as title sponsor of the Toshiba Classic, Toshiba America Inc. has proudly led the way to raise $1 million annually for Hoag and other Orange County charities. Through the generous philanthropy of Toshiba and other sponsors, the Toshiba Classic has become the charity leader on the PGA Champions Tour. Toshiba continues its tradition of recognizing some of Orange County s best and brightest students with the Toshiba Classic Scholarship Fund. The scholarship fund is a joint effort of the title sponsor, Toshiba America Information Systems, Digital Products Division and the tournament. The Toshiba Classic scholarship panel interviews 24 high school seniors, nominated by their high schools, and then selects 12 finalists. The top two students selected by the panel will receive a $10,000 scholarship each, and all 12 finalists will receive a Toshiba laptop computer. In the 14th year of the Toshiba Classic Scholarship Fund, Toshiba America Inc. has donated more than $269,000 in scholarships and 158 Toshiba laptop computers to outstanding Orange County high school students. Breakfast With a Champion Presented by The Allergan Foundation The Breakfast with a Champion, presented by The Allergan Foundation on Tuesday, March 12 is always a highlight of tournament week. The 2013 guest of honor is 10-time PGA TOUR winner, including the 1995 PGA, Steve Elkington. Fostering the growth of Orange County s community is something The Allergan Foundation is quite proud to be associated with, and we value the relationships we ve built with Hoag Hospital Foundation and Toshiba to make this Breakfast of Champions happen, said Jim Hindman, president of The Allergan Foundation. Not only is it a remarkable event to learn about golf s great athletes, but also an opportunity to give back to the area of which we re so fortunate to be a part of. The Sixth Annual Toshiba Swing for the Green Recycling Event will provide the community with a free and easy way to responsibly dispose of e-waste. (Reaching Out Creates Kids Success) which affords Toshiba employees the opportunity to get directly involved with Orangewood s efforts to stop the cycle of child abuse. Our corporate campus annually donates hundreds of pounds of canned and other non-perishable items to the food pantry, South County Outreach, which helps feed over 650 families per month. For example, ExploraVision, in its 21st year, is the world s largest K 12 science and technology competition. Since its inception, more than 300,000 students from the U.S. and Canada have entered, and Toshiba has awarded over $4.4 million worth of savings bonds and prizes. Since 1990, TAF has donated 2,000 grants worth $10 million to 125,000 students. Last year s Toshiba Classic raised $1 million for the Mary & Dick Allen Diabetes Center, and the tournament has generated $15 million to benefit Hoag throughout its 15-year history. When their granddaughter was diagnosed with Type I diabetes at the age of two and a half, Mary and Dick Allen turned to Hoag s medical leadership for guidance and training. This experience inspired the Allens to become advocates within the community and actively support diabetes programming. The American Diabetes Association estimates that nearly 26 million Americans live with diabetes and more than 79 million Americans are at increased risk for diabetes. Recognizing that Orange County is deeply affected by this chronic disease, The Mary & Dick Allen Diabetes Center is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of people with diabetes through its clinical, educational and support services.
