2 Works undertaken during August GREENS All greens cut or rolled daily Application for poa annua seed head control (ethephon) Application on N,K,CA and Minor nutrient package for renovation recovery SURROUNDS Cut with fairway mower at 12mm as required Sprayed with half rates of 360ml/l glyphosate for late poa control TEES Height of cut is 8mm Divoting of tees was carried out Once weekly Cut fortnightly FAIRWAYS Height of cut is 12mm Cut as required Sprayed with half rates of 360ml/l glyphosate for late poa control BUNKERS Bunkers broomed and raked twice weekly or left smooth after levelling Levelling and addition of sand (ongoing) Bunker works undertaken on holes 13,16,15,12,11,8,5 these works include addition of sand, replacement of matting ROUGH Greens/Tees rough cut X 1 Fairway first cut X 1 Second cut rough X 1 2 P a g e

4 Issues Relating To Course Pump Station Pump station quotation was put to tender and is currently seeking board approval Irrigation Issues Flow sensor works are 80% complete after we discover a new section of pipe leaving the maintenance yard. As unfortunately we do not have any drawings or plans of our main irrigation leaving the pump station and yard, which makes some of these simple task s a little more difficult. A total of 40 man hours was spent on wire detection and re-doing wiring joints on our irrigation system. 7 decoders were replaced and we are left with 3 more to replace at present The one way valve on our transfer pump on the 4 th has failed, parts are on order to replace ASAP Water Usage 0 mega liters of water was transferred from the 4 th dam this month 0 mega liters was used on course 4 P a g e

5 Planned works for September Greens Major greens renovation Poa annua seed head control Foliar fertilize application Surrounds Iron and magnesium application Poa annua control (late in the month need ground temperatures above 15c) Tees Low N Fertilizer application Poa annua control (late in the month need ground temperatures above 15c) Fairways High N Fertilizer application will be applied to encourage spring green up after this harsh winter Spot spraying of heavy problematic areas of poa annua Dabbing of rye grass will commence late in the month and continue through to march Kikuyu dabbing/spot spraying will commence also and continue throughout the entire growing season Roughs All rough to be mowed X 2 Areas of greens rough to be over seeded Fertilizer application to encourage both cool and warm season varieties Greens/Tees rough to be sprayed with broadleaf herbicide Poor rough areas to have greens cores and sand added and marked G.U.R Bunkers Raked twice weekly minimum Spot spraying of weeds on a fortnightly basis ongoing throughout the season Other Speaking to council regarding tree removal down the 7 th and 8 th for future water storage works and development Decoder and irrigation audit Spraying off waterway on the 12 th for prevention of aquatic weeds Replacement of waterway valve on the 13 th 5 P a g e

6 Executive summary August has finished up being our wettest month of the year with 44mm falling at Sanctuary Lakes although this is good timing, this year is the second driest for the last 7 seasons recorded on-site. The addition of James and Matthew to team has been a huge sigh of relief. These guys both bring great knowledge and skills to the table which will help progress the team and course further and help us reach new team goals this season. We continued with some average to good frosts throughout the month taking the total to 16 for the season, I will be very surprised if we see any more for the season now, this has hampered our fairways from firing up nice and early for the first time in many years. The long-term forecast isn t exactly exciting form warm season grass growing conditions though we will continue to prevail and work tirelessly. The last week of August saw the team setting up for greens renovations, making sure we had our tees crossed and I s dotted as we knew the weather would be against us with one of the worst cold fronts in many years passing through the week of renovations. The process this time around is to hollow tine to a depth of 7-8 inches into our greens profile, we know this depth passes any of the surfaces layering build from the past 20 seasons and enables roots to dive deeper again. Minor bunker renovations have taken up majority of the teams time over the past two months working tirelessly with the addition of sand and re-shaping of problematic bunkers, to then go back the week after to redo works due to above average high winds this season. Bunkers were edged in between all general task s and will be completed during renovation week more than likely with the poorly forecasted weather. With the below average temperatures we have changed up all our renovation dates and techniques, as to not cause any disturbance to members and our corporate day calendar.
