2 Summary of works August has seen yet another average rain fall for the month with 45.5mm falling this will take the total rain fall for the year to 377mm. with another wet month the course has handled the rain well; I would like to thank members for understanding the soft conditions. Greens have been performing well over the month with the cooler temperatures and with a healthy and strong plant fungicide applications have been drawn out to once a month as per our program. With spring just around the corner we have applied iron and magnesium to all couch surfaces this application will bring fairways out of dormancy in time for spring and fairway renovations. Spraying of greens and tees rough was a huge success and will now be looking to over sow the thin areas of the rough to get a nice even coverage of turf. Spraying of the long rough has started to and had a great result. Unfortunately the sprayer broke down and we haven t been able to continue. Due to the warmer weather we will not be able to spray the long roughs due to the herbicides needed to be sprayed; we will mow all long rough in the coming weeks when aeration on fairways commences. We are staring to prepare for planting down 12 th and 13 th holes. Selected areas have been sprayed out in preparation. Plants are being order and will be in the by mid-october. Irrigation has been on the agenda; getting ready for the summer we have replaced and rebuilt 12 sprinkler heads. Also all leaking valves have been rebuilt and are now in excellent working order. 2 P a g e

7 Executive summary September will be a big month for the course and the staff; with the first week renovating greens and tees. Greens will take day s to fully recover as there will be over 12,000,000 holes punched into the greens surfaces and 80 tons of fresh sand added into the profile. The second and third week will be fairway coring and a light scarify. This method will release compaction in the clay soil and allow water to move through the soil profile. As we will still be in renovation mode we will core the collars and over seed collars with a variety of fescue. This will allow the collar to stand out from the greens and it will be a much better playing surfaces. Fertilizing of all playing surfaces will commence as we work through the renovation period as we want the surface to recover in the quickest time.
