2 MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE EUROPEAN GOLF ASSOCIATION On behalf of the European Golf Association (EGA) I would like to welcome all competitors, officials and supporters to the 2013 European Men s Challenge Trophy. My special thanks go to the Czech Golf Federation for organising this event and to the officials, staff and volunteers who have helped with the preparations. I also extend my gratitude to all members of Golf Club Kunětická Hora who have made their superb and challenging golf course available. This event bears a very special importance; the best Amateurs from each of the competing nations will be trying to lead their countries into the European team competition while competing for a European Challenge Trophy. I am certain that all will be inspired to perform at their best and that we will see golf of the highest standard. I would like to wish all teams, officials and spectators a very successful and enjoyable championship and that the experience will provide fond, lasting memories. May the best team win. 3 MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE CZECH GOLF FEDERATION Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Golfing Friends Let me greet you sincerely on behalf of Czech Golf Federation. Our beautiful game has a very long tradition in the Czech Republic. The first courses here were built in the western part of the country (Karlsbad, Marienbad) at the beginning of the twentieth century and we are among the 11 founders who signed the first Constitution of the EGA in Luxembourg on 20 November After years of communism when golf was suppressed we have started a new era in 1990 highlighted by the new dynamic development of golf in the Czech Republic. Nowadays there are more than 55 thousand registered golfers and 96 rated golf courses in our country. Team competitions are traditionally highly appreciated in the Czech Republic. Thus, we are happy and feel honoured to be again given the chance by the EGA to organize an important European golfing event. We will do our best for your full satisfaction and comfort. Welcome to the Czech Republic, to a country promised to golf. May the best team win! May all the participating teams enjoy a successful and memorable championship! 5 Venue & Contacts Golf & Spa Resort Kunětická Hora Dříteč Dříteč Czech Republic Tel: /212 Fax: Webpage: The Course The championship golf course complies with all the requirements of a modern complex of European and world standard. The course was designed by a top Australian architect Graham Marsh who has constructed more than 80 courses all over the world. As part of the premises you will find three lakes with six holes designed in their proximity. There are a number of typical ragged sand bunkers, wavy fairways and multi-leveled greens. You have to judge the wind very carefully and play the course accordingly throughout the year. The course spreads out on the area of 140 hectares and by its length it belongs to the longest courses in the Czech Republic. The total length from the white and blue tees is and meters respectively. Mainly the 11 th (par 5, 600 m) and the 17 th (par 3, 205 m over the water) holes provide a true skill and endurance test. As the "signature hole" stands out the 13 th hole (par 3, 148 m) on the bank of the lake with a 130-meter long bunker. From all the holes there is a beautiful view of the dominant of Eastern Bohemia, the Kunětická hill and castle about a kilometer away from the course. The course is surrounded by the greenery of the forests which perfectly isolate the players from the noise of two hectic cities, Hradec Králové and Pardubice. Thanks to its location the resort is not only easily accessible from the nearby cities but also from Prague and its international airport.
