The 2012 champion and current Florida Gulf Coast freshman Edward Figueroa carded a 72-74, missing the cut just by one stroke. Coming back for more Jorge Garcia tied for second at last year s event, while Christopher Petefish tied for fifth. These two along with Max Greyserman (eighth), George Cunningham (ninth) and Colin Proctor (T11) will also look to past success in hopes of claiming a win. 3 3 Top Players to Watch Cameron Champ, Sacramento, Calif. (2014) At No. 8 in the Polo Golf Rankings, Champ is the highest-ranked player in the field. He will kick off his 2013 campaign at the Puerto Rico Junior Open sponsored by Sport Link on the heels of three top-10 finishes in national competition in The Texas A&M verbal commit placed second at both the Junior PGA Championship and The PING Invitational. The high school junior was a 2012 first-team Rolex Junior All-American. Matt Gilchrest, Southlake, Texas (2013) Gilchrest will begin his last year of junior golf before heading to play college golf at Auburn at the Puerto Rico Junior Open sponsored by Sport Link. The senior made AJGA history in 2012, tying the boys record for most consecutive wins after claiming three victories in the season. The honorable-mention Rolex Junior All-American is No. 16 in the Polo Golf Rankings. Max Greyserman, Short Hills, N.J. (2013) Greyserman returns to the Puerto Rico Junior Open sponsored by Sport Link after placing eighth at the event in The Duke verbal-commit posted four top-10 AJGA finishes in 2012, including a win at the Golf Pride Junior Classic and a third-place showing at The PING Invitational. 4 4 Media Accommodations The AJGA is prepared to make covering the Puerto Rico Junior Open an enjoyable experience. Whether it be on-site professional communications staff or timely results, the AJGA is ready to honor all media requests. At the event, the AJGA will provide: Information about the tournament and its participants leading up to the event Assistance with player interviews before, during and after the tournament A golf cart to make covering the tournament as easy as possible Assistance locating players on the course A recap with results after each tournament round in a timely manner During the week of the tournament, the AJGA will have one communications representative on hand to assist the media. These media officials will write an AP Style recap and produce agate results each tournament day. These will then be faxed and/or ed to all media outlets. Interviews with AJGA Tournament Directors, Tournament Chairmen and juniors can be conducted before or after every round. The AJGA website, ajga.org, is a tremendous media resource. The tournament website, which is linked from the AJGA homepage, includes recaps, results, list of participants, tee times, live scoring, scorecards and sponsor information. About the AJGA The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf.
