HELMETS ThecurrentEArulesforDressageandWerribeeParkNECRegulations: Anapprovedhelmettobewornwhilsttrainingandpracticeatcompetitionvenue EA DressageRule2.2 ALLridersunder18andallridersofhorses/poniesunder7yearsold(ageatnaturalbirthday) mustwearanapprovedsafetyhelmetinalleacompetitions(rule2.2) Protectiveheadgearmustconformwithoneofthecurrentapprovedsafetystandardsoutlined below.theeageneralregulationsatrule122.2prescribethecurrentstandards.itisthe responsibilityoftheridertoensuretheyareusingacurrentstandardsafetyhelmet. CurrentAustralianstandardAS/NZS3838(2006onwards)providedtheyareSAIGlobalmarked. NewAustralianstandardARBHS2012providedtheyareSAIGlobalmarked.

4 CurrentAmericanstandardsASTMF1163(2004aor04aonwards)providedtheyareSEImarked, orsnelle2001. CurrentBritishstandardPAS015(1998or2011)providedtheyareBSIKitemarked. InterimEuropeanStandardVG1(01.040: )withorwithoutBSIKitemark. OutgoingEuropeanStandardEN/1384during2016only notpermittedfrom2017 FEI CODE OF CONDUCT FOR THE WELFARE OF THE HORSE TheFédérationEquestreInternationale(FEI)expectsallthoseinvolvedininternational equestriansporttoadheretothefei scodeofconductandtoacknowledgeandacceptthatat alltimesthewelfareofthehorsemustbeparamountandmustneverbesubordinatedto competitiveorcommercialinfluences. Atallstagesduringthepreparationandtrainingofcompetitionhorses,welfaremusttake precedenceoverallotherdemands.thisincludesgoodhorsemanagement,trainingmethods, farrieryandtack,andtransportation. Horsesandathletesmustbefit,competentandingoodhealthbeforetheyareallowedto compete.thisencompassesmedicationuse,surgicalproceduresthatthreatenwelfareorsafety, pregnancyinmaresandthemisuseofaids. Eventsmustnotprejudicehorsewelfare.Thisinvolvespayingcarefulattentiontothe competitionareas,groundsurfaces,weatherconditions,stabling,sitesafetyandfitnessofthe horseforonwardtravelaftertheevent. Everyeffortmustbemadetoensurethathorsesreceiveproperattentionaftertheyhave competedandthattheyaretreatedhumanelywhentheircompetitioncareersareover.this coversproperveterinarycare,competitioninjuries,euthanasiaandretirement. The FEI urges all involved with the sport to attain the highest levels of education in their areas of expertise.
