POST ENTRY DEADLINE: For horses already entered in the show, post entries will be accepted up to 1 hour prior to the class, except in Dressage, Western Dressage and Sport Horse in Hand. New entries must be entered 4 hours prior to the class. Post entries in Dressage, Western Dressage and Sport Horse in Hand must be approved by the Dressage Manager, Annette Wells. No post entry fees will be assessed for championship classes. DOGS AND PETS: The state humane officer requires all dogs to be leashed AT ALL TIMES. This rule will be strictly enforced. Owner assumes all liability for pet animals. DRESSAGE: Dressage classes may not be run in the order listed. All riders must wear protective head gear (USEF DR120.6) FARRIER: A farrier will be available on the grounds during show hours. FIRE REGULATIONS PROHIBIT PARKING BETWEEN THE BARNS: As soon as you unload your horse, please move your vehicle to a designated parking area. Parking in the barn area is prohibited. Vehicles in No Parking areas will be towed at the owner s expense. Access to the barn area during the show hours will be limited. Specific areas have been set aside for parking horse trailers and vans for exhibitors showing from the trailer. Trailers may be moved by Brookside Management if not parked properly.

10 FIRST AID: There will be an EMT on the grounds during show hours. FOOTING There is sand footing in all arenas and warm-up rings. Ring dimensions are as follows: Main Arena 275 x 150, Arena #2 240 x 150 and Grand Prix Arena 150 x 240.The warm-up arenas are 200 x 150. REFUNDS: To encourage early entries, the management agrees to cancel and refund entry and stall fees on any horse not fit to show providing written notice is given to the Show Secretary on or before September 26, Requests received between September 28 and September 30, 2018 show management will consider refunds due to illness, injury or accidents. All requests must be in writing, accompanied by a Veterinarian Certificate, and must be received by the Show Secretary prior to the start of the show. On approved refunds, all class fees will be refunded. Refunds for stalls, tack rooms or miscellaneous fees will be on a case by case basis. Any refunds will be made by mail, approximately one month after the show. RV OVERNIGHT: Limited RV hook-ups (15AMP) are available on reservation only. RV spaces must be reserved. Any rig plugged into an electrical hook-up will be considered an RV. There is a flat fee of $125 for the entire show. Very limited electrical power is available especially on very hot days. It has improved though. Please bring your own generator just in case it is needed. Electrical improvements have continued to be made in the last year through Brookside Barns & RV hook-ups. SHOW OFFICE AND REGISTRATION: Registration at the Horse Show Office by the exhibitor is required upon arrival at the show grounds. The show office will be open 1:00pm on Wednesday, September 26, 9:00am to 5:00pm Thursday, September 27 and daily one hour prior to the start of the first class each day of the show. The office will be closed for lunch and dinner. It will close after the last class of each day except Sunday when the office will stay open 1 hour after the last class. STABLING ASSIGNMENTS: NO STALLS WILL BE RESERVED WITHOUT PRE- PAYMENT IN FULL Assignment of stalls is entirely at the discretion of the Barn & Show Manager. Horses must be placed in stalls assigned and no changes will be permitted without the express consent of the Barn Manager. Assignments will be made as fairly as possible on the basis of the many considerations, including sponsorship support, number of horses, past participation in this show optimum use and convenience, show décor, time of receipt of entries, ring use, number of classes entered and access considerations. We ask your cooperation in these assignments and once assignments have been made, please do not deviate without specific approval of the Barn Manager. Patron sponsors will have 1st priority in stable assignments. Exhibitors wishing to be stabled together should submit their entries in the same envelope. Please indicate on the entry form (stable with line) any special requests. Management will try to stable late entries as closely as possible to other entries, but there are no guarantees. TWO MINUTE GATE RULE: Due to a full schedule of classes, the two-minute limit for gates will be strictly enforced. Exhibitors are cautioned against entering the same horse in successive classes. The gate will close two minutes after the first horse has entered the ring or in the case of large classes taking more than two minutes, as the final horse in a continuous string of horses. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to ensure that his/her horse is at the gate on time. Class calls must be considered a courtesy only. No protests will be upheld on the basis of a public address system malfunction. VETERINARIAN: A veterinarian will be ON CALL only and NOT present during the show. All animals are subject to physical inspection by the Show Veterinarian at the discretion of the Show Committee. CRUELTY: Cruelty to, or the abuse of, a horse by any person at a recognized show is forbidden. Excessive use of a whip on any horse in a stall, runway, schooling area, show ring, or elsewhere on the show grounds before or during a show, by any person, constitutes a violation and renders the offender subject to penalty. (See GR839) ADMISSION TO THE RING: No person will be permitted to enter the ring except participants of the class, judges and their assistants and show officials. Attendants and grooms may enter the ring only when summoned by order of the judge. AGE OF HORSES: For horse show purposes, any horse shall be considered to be one year old on the first day of January following the actual date of foaling. A Junior Horse is one that is 5 years old and under. AHA MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT: Each competitor (this includes at least one recorded owner and all trainers, drivers, riders, halter handlers, coaches and the person(s) signing the entry blank) in an Arabian Horse Association recognized Arabian Division, at the time of entry into a competition, must submit a copy of a valid AHA Membership/Competition Card, join AHA or pay an AHA Single Event Membership Fee per competitor. When an agent signs for the owner at an AHA recognized competition, both the owner and agent must be members of AHA or pay the AHA Single Event Membership. Single Event Membership is not acceptable at AHA Regional or National Competitions. Exhibitors in Walk/trot classes are exempt from AHA Membership requirements at qualifying competitions, but must have an AHA Membership with competition card at AHA Regional and National Competitions. Exhibitors in lead line classes or parents/guardians signing for minors are exempt from AHA Membership requirements. (BOD 5/12) USEF MEMBERSHIP RULE Life, senior active and junior members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions. Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $45 Show Pass (nonmember) fee. 11 USEF AMATEUR CERTIFICATION 1. Every person who has reached his/her 18th birthday and competes in classes for amateurs under Federation rules must possess current amateur certification issued by the Federation. This certification must be available for inspection or the competitor must have lodged with the competition secretary, at least one hour prior to such class, an application for such certification provided by the Federation. Certification will be issued only on receipt of the application properly signed and is revocable at any time for cause. Any person who has not reached his/her 18th birthday is an amateur and does not require amateur certification. 2. An amateur continues to be such until he/she has received a change in status from the Federation. Any amateur who wishes to be re-classified on the grounds that he/she has engaged or is planning on engaging in activities which would prevent him/her from continuing to remain an amateur must notify the Federation in writing. AMATEUR/OWNERS TO RIDE CLASSES: An Owner s Class is one in which every contestant is an Amateur and the rider, handler or driver is the Owner or an Amateur Member of the owner s family (See GR142). Combined ownership is not permitted in Amateur/Owner classes unless all owners are members of the same family. Leased horses are not eligible for amateur owner to ride classes. CROSS ENTRIES: ARABIANS & HALF ARABIANS: Cross-entries are prohibited between Country English Pleasure section and the English Pleasure section and the English Pleasure and Pleasure Driving sections and/or Informal/Combination classes at the same show. Cross-entries are prohibited between the Pleasure Driving sections and the Country Pleasure Driving and Country Pleasure sections and/or Country Pleasure Combination classes at the same show. DRUG & MEDICATION: All horses entered in the competition must be assessed a fee of $23 (USEF) and $5 (CDF) per horse to defray the expenses of the Drug testing. Horses in competition at a recognized competition are subject to examination by licensed veterinarian or appointed technician to perform certain duties under GR402. EXHIBITOR IDENTIFICATION NUMERS: Each horse entered in this show must be assigned an identification number for this show. Correct numbers must be worn by the riders and handlers in all classes. HACKAMORES & SNAFFLES: Hackamore (Bosal) and standard snaffles (As defined in Rule XVI, Article ) are permitted on ALL horses five years and under in all Western classes. Two hands may be used on Hackamore (Bosal) and Western Snaffle reins. HALF ARABIAN COLTS: Half-Arabian Colts/Stallions, two years & older are excluded from all halter classes. HOOF RULE: See rule AR106 in the USEF Rulebook INDEMNITY & NON-RESPONSIBILITY CLAUSES: All entries are accepted with the understanding that the Diablo Arabian Horse Association and the Brookside Show Park will not be held responsible for any loss, damage or injury to any horse exhibited, or any article of any kind. All horses shall be under the control and direction of the Show Committee but solely at the risk of the exhibitor, who will be responsible for any loss, damage or injury to any person, animal or property occasioned by him, his agents or employees, or by an animal owned or exhibited by him and shall indemnify Diablo Arabian Horse Association and the Brookside Show Park against any and all loss, damages and liability thus occasioned, including but not limited to any and all legal costs, including attorney fees, which may be incurred as a result thereof. The submitting of an entry form to the Show Secretary shall constitute an acceptance by each person signing same of the revisions herein set forth. INSURANCE ADVISORY: Due to the number and quality of horses at this show we urge each exhibitor to verify their liability insurance coverage and their livestock mortality coverage with their own insurance carrier(s). Be sure your coverage is in effect. The Diablo Arabian Horse Association, its members, agents, employees and volunteers accept no responsibility for losses sustained or caused by any exhibitor. JUDGES: If, for any reason a judge fails to attend this show or perform his duties, the Show Committee reserves the right to substitute a judge for the one who is officially designated in the Prize list. It is a violation of USEF Rules to commit any act or make remarks during the show that are considered offensive and/or made with the intent to influence or cast aspersions on the judging. No one shall approach a judge with regard to a decision or at any time unless he first obtains permission from the Show Committee or Steward who shall arrange an appointment with the Judge at a proper time and place. JUNIOR EXHIBITORS: To be eligible, Riders must not have reached their 19th birthday as of December 1st of the current competition year. The age of an individual on December 1st will be maintained throughout the entire competition year. Persons born on December 1st assume the greater age on that date. SELECT RIDERS: Select Adult Amateurs: Has not received one of the following: a. Has not leveled out of the National Select Amateur Level, b. Has not received more than 75 AHA Achievement points Select Junior Riders: Has not received one of the following: a. Has not leveled out of the National Select Youth Level, b. Has not received more than 100 AHA Achievement points Select Open Riders: Has not received one of the following: a. Has not leveled out of the National Select Open Level, b. Has not received more than 100 AHA Achievement points NOVICE & LIMIT HORSES/EXHIBITORS: A Maiden horse or exhibitor is one which has not won one first place ribbon. A Novice horse or exhibitor is one, which has not won three 1st place ribbons. A Limit horse or exhibitor is one, who has not won more than 6 1st place ribbons at a Recognized Show of the USEF. In the Arabian Division, ribbons won within a section shall not count in reckoning maiden/novice/limit status if the animal or exhibitor is transferred to a new classification (e.g. Arabian Park to Arabian Western Pleasure, etc.) at a Regular Member Show of American Horse Shows Association or the Canadian Equestrian Federation. For purposes of this show, a maiden, novice or limit horse or exhibitor is as of the date of closing of entries. PADDOCK/WARM UP ARENAS: There shall be no conduct in the paddock area, which disturbs or creates a hazard to horses or handlers/riders. There will be no whips, noisemakers or other equipment device or objects allowed in the paddock area, which may disturb or create a hazard to horses or handlers/riders. Exception: The show whip carried properly by a handler. Spectators are asked not be in the paddock/warm-up arena area during the show. PROTESTS: Should any question or dispute arises, it must be protested in the same manner prescribed by USEF Rule GR603. A protest may be received by the Steward, Show Secretary, Show Manager or by a member of the Show Committee within 48 hours of the alleged violation. REFUSAL OF ENTRIES: The management reserves the rights to cancel any entries to any exhibitor, as stated in USEF GR914 RODE BUT DID NOT ENTER (RDNE): Horses that are ridden in a class but not properly entered in the Show Office will be assessed a fee of $ RULES: The Horse Show is conducted in accordance with the rules of USEF, the Prize List and the show based on rules of the current USEF Rule Book and the AHA Handbook; any changes or corrections of rules will automatically become part of the Prize List. Each participant in this show is responsible for knowledge of and is subject to the USEF and AHA Rules. Every class offered herein which is covered by the Rules and Specification of the current USEF Rule Book and the AHA Handbook will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. Questions not covered by USEF and AHA Rules shall be decided by the Show Committee and its decision will be final. SCRATCHED CLASSES/RIDER CHANGES: As a courtesy to the Gate Man, Announcer and Show Office, exhibitors are requested to notify the Show Office when it is necessary to scratch a class entered or change a rider/handler for a class. Any new riders on a horse must have current AHA and USEF membership cards on file and proper signature waiver completed for the entry. A fee of $10.00 will be charged for non-notification of a scratched class or rider change. MOTORIZED VEHICLES Minors who do not have a valid driver s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for the child committing the offense. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion for the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. EXCEPTIONS: Working Hunter, Team Penning, Ranch Sorting, Jumper, Eventing, Combined Driving, Carriage Driving, Cutting, Reined Cow Horse, Working Cow Horse or any existing Championship classes will be held during the TBA time slots as noted in the schedule. Contact the show secretary if you would like to add a class. TBA Classes will be limited to TWO classes per entry and will be assigned on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED BASIS. The sponsorship fees are $15.00 for a regular class and $25.00 for a championship class. The TBA class entry fees are $25 entry fee for a regular class and $33 entry for a championship class. The TBA sponsor pays a sponsorship fee on top of the class fee. Anyone else entering that class only pays the class entry fee. No post entry fees are charged for TBA classes. VACCINATIONS: Horses coming to the Diablo Arabian Fall Fling Horse Show will be required to have Equine Influenza Virus and Equine Herpes Virus (Rhinopneumonitis) vaccinations within six months of the show date, in accordance with USEF GR845. Horse entering from outside the state will also need a health certificate in addition to the Equine Influenza Virus and Equine Herpes Virus (Rhinopneumonitis) vaccinations within six months prior to entering the show grounds Personnel will be on-site checking for paperwork. Owners and trainers will need a copy of the paperwork with them in the barn and a copy must be submitted to the show office prior to back numbers being released.
