1 FUJAIRAH ARABIAN HORSE SHOW DECEMBER 2017 by Simone Leo z photos by Alessio Azzali Fujairah is on the east coast of the United Arab Emirates, lying along the Gulf of Oman. Fujairah Emirate is known for its beaches and the Hajar Mountains, which run through much of the emirate. In the south, the city of Fujairah is home to the massive Sheikh Zayed Mosque, with its towering white minarets. Overlooking the city is Fujairah Fort, a reconstructed 17th-century fortress featuring round and square towers.

2 The Fujairah Arabian Horse Show 2017 was held in a wonderful venue just behind the Fort and it was entered by 450 horses. Not easy to move such a high number of horses from other Emirates as the road is long and hard to go. But thanks to the great number of farms entered and a crowd of people occurred to see the high quality horses showed the show was a success. Weather didn t support the management, violent thunderstorms caused flooding and some damage that were quickly solved by the organization to let the show go on. Mr. Essam Abdallah and his staff managed all the unexpected events the best way, also supplying rain equipments to all judges 280 TUTTO ARABI -

3 who continued their job without rest. Thanks to all the people of the organization who cooperated to drain the water out of the ring and boxes the show didn t have any delay. Furthermore Eahs organized every evening a nice lottery with phones as a gift to the winners that was a very nice initiative that created even more enthusiasm. During the show days we have the opportunity to visit the Fort and Al Hayl Palace. Enjoy the pictures from the tour taken by our photographer Mr. Azzali. The atmosphere of friendship and enthusiasm fed by the Association helped EAHS to have always more supporters. Arabian horse market in Emirates is very active. There are many auctions now in Emirates almost in every shows - TUTTO ARABI 281

4 in order to support new breeders and the level of the auction is really high every year more. Everywhere in Emirates there are great sales offer and if we think about the future we expect soon one auction in Fujerah too. All EAHS members are very satisfied about the show schedule and about all the improvements. 5 The prize money increase every year just like the number of horses entered to the shows. The number of farms in Emirates increased by 40% during the last years. As a matter of fact 720 horses are expected to the National show of Abu Dhabi that is the world record of horses entered ever. EAHS is planning new ideas for the future like to open the classification to the top 12 instead of top 10 just to give more chance to the participants and improve the competitiveness.
